Madden 10 pre-order demo drops July 23, public demo July 30
Remember that fancy Superbowl reenactment demo that's only available to those that pre-order Madden NFL 10? EA has announced that said demo will arrive next week on July 23. But what about all the little people, the ones that won't be putting down some reserve cash for Mr. Madden's latest outing? EA has them covered too, announcing that a public demo will arrive on PSN and XBLA one week later, on July 30.
As previously announced, the public demo will not be a reenactment of Super Bowl XLIII, but will instead be a boring, snow-covered night game between the Dallas Cowboys and New York Giants. We suppose you might want to pre-order if the particular setting of your virtual football demo is of great importance to you. Otherwise you can wait a week to take Madden for a spin without committing your cash.

On XBL, gold subscribers usually get demos a week before silver subscribers. Is that the case here? Can silver members who preordered get demo access July 23?
kanjilee @ Jul 14th 2009 12:20PM
first to say first!!!!
GoldN @ Jul 14th 2009 12:25PM
you're the first to get down voted as well...
ill trooper @ Jul 14th 2009 12:24PM
They need to add night-vision goggles to this pre-order to make me even care.
Storm Eagle::The Blood Edge @ Jul 14th 2009 12:34PM
Or a replica helmet of a your favorite team would be coool.
dpirtle22 @ Jul 14th 2009 12:36PM
Or somebody's tooth

I was hoping to get Chad Ocho Cinco's used tampon.

i realized after i preordered this game that i buy a madden game every other year. i am pretty excited for this demo (and the game itself of course). i have been following the new changes to the game on the ea sports developers blog. although i gotta be honest, i will probably play a few games on here and get bored with it and only end up picking it up a few more times.
Khaled @ Jul 14th 2009 12:31PM
I'm happy with NCAA Football 10 for now. After college football is over, maybe I'll buy it.
kanjilee @ Jul 14th 2009 12:36PM
i love you
Eminemdrdre00 @ Jul 14th 2009 12:40PM
I pre-ordered @ Gamestop this past weekend, but they never mentioned the demo. What'll I have to do to get it? Go in an get a card with a code or something?
i.c. weiner @ Jul 14th 2009 12:57PM
you don't deserve to know if you are dumb enough to actually pre-order a game at gamestop
Khaled @ Jul 14th 2009 1:04PM
@ i.c .
WTF?
Khaled @ Jul 14th 2009 1:05PM
Yeah go in with your receipt and tell them you never got the demo card, they should give it to you.
Brazell @ Jul 14th 2009 5:09PM
THey'll give you the demo card after July 15th. Or if you pre-ordered online, they'll email it to you.
McBrick @ Jul 14th 2009 12:50PM
I'm seeing the Houston Texans featured in the Madden 10 screenshots I'm seeing here and elsewhere (i.e. July GameInformer). What's up with that, I wonder?
John Perkins @ Jul 14th 2009 12:51PM
It's not just a different location with different teams, but it's also over twice as long at 20 minutes rather than 8. That to me is worth pre-ordering then canceling if I'm not feeling the demo. 8 minutes is not enough time to really get a feel for the game.
Shmil @ Jul 14th 2009 1:40PM
Why don't you try the other dozen madden games, I'm sure they all play the same.
John Perkins @ Jul 14th 2009 1:57PM
@Shmil,
This is a tired argument that really holds no weight. Every year they make at least a few changes that affect gameplay in some way. And this year they've supposedly revamped the physics engine, which would dramatically affect the game. I think a demo will be a much better example of the type of gameplay to expect in Madden 2010 than playing a game of Madde 09.
But thanks for your insightful comment. Really brought a lot to the discussion. Your mother would be proud, and will be able to tell you herself after she finishes giving me head.
Bravo6 @ Jul 14th 2009 1:06PM
I buy Madden games once every few years and I'm usually disappointed everytime. But for some reason, this one really has me thinking about it again.
John Perkins @ Jul 14th 2009 2:06PM
I feel the exact same way. I ended up buying the last 2 Maddens used after vowing not to buy them any more. And as expected, they were utterly disappointing.
I liken it to sleeping with a woman who has herpes. You know it's a bad idea, but there's nothing you can do to stop yourself.
Bubbameister33 @ Jul 14th 2009 7:23PM
You could not sleep with the woman who has herpes.
Bravo6 @ Jul 14th 2009 8:07PM
Again, you mean?
Sweets @ Jul 14th 2009 1:47PM
Maybe we'll get Backbreaker Football with real physics and that will give Madden a run for the money, more at least make them skip a year to make real advancements.

check it out
dpirtle22 @ Jul 14th 2009 2:12PM
Prrrrrrrrrrrrrrroduct Plaaaaaaaaaaaacement!
Sweets @ Jul 14th 2009 2:28PM
I just hope they release the game, just seems like that's the advance that Madden should have done a long time ago, but didn't.
CrashSpyro123 @ Jul 14th 2009 9:46PM
Looks like Backbreaker Forever to me.
Tim @ Jul 14th 2009 2:31PM
i cant stress it enough.. madden 10 just screams "uncanny valley!" to me. i think its because the background is blurred so much. The focus is to unnatural to look appealing
Brazell @ Jul 14th 2009 5:05PM
That's a replay filter
TreyIM @ Jul 14th 2009 3:15PM
"As previously announced, the public demo will not be a reenactment of Super Bowl XLIII, but will instead be a boring, snow-covered night game between the Dallas Cowboys and New York Giants." - ??? That's not boring at all. Love Joystiq's angle on EA. Very professional, all the time. Ha...
I am getting the pre-order demo code whenever it hits GS since I pre-ordered mine way before this demo code thing was even announced then I will check out the "boring" snow-covered night game demo when it hits PSN. In a minute, I am going to pickup NCAA 10 and see if those codes finally came in, as well.
Brazell @ Jul 14th 2009 5:09PM
Needs a little more info here:
The demo coming out on the 23rd, is a full 20-minute game (4 quarters, at 5 mins each) between the Steelers & Cardinals, exclusive to Gamestop preorders. Codes for the download are released tomorrow (July 15).
The demo coming out on the 30th, is an 8-minute game (4 quarters, at 2minutes each), between the Cowboys & Giants available to all XBL gold/PSN subscribers.
The biggest thing about the exclusive demo is the time limit, which is generally at an amount that many people play a full game (4, five-min quarters).
Randy @ Jul 14th 2009 5:19PM
I just started playing Madden 09 again and started a Franchise mode. I only played roughly 20 games or so of it this past year and it was meh. I'm trying to use a franchise mode to get me back into caring it.
I'm kind of sick of all of these slight improvements that madden does every year and how they improve the graphics but it's not really that noticable, except on replays that no one watches. I'll probably pick up a used copy unless this demo just blows me away
