Paws for concern, 'Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days' trademark discovered
Discovering a trademark for Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days has made us preemptively fire Ludwig Kietzmann, before his upcoming review of the game could be completed. In the future, Square Enix Europe will pull all advertising from our site due to these choice quotes:
[Thanks, Spencer!]
- "This game will send you to the doghouse."
- "You will roll over when playing the game."
- "You'll beg for it to stop."
- "I played the game for a bit, but then I had to put it down."
- "Here's our score, K? 9/100."
- "Kane & Lynch is a bitch."
[Thanks, Spencer!]

I'd like mustard on that hot dog. What? I'm hungry.
NaeemTHM @ Jul 14th 2009 9:26AM
I heard Gamespot already gave this game a 10.
Damian @ Jul 14th 2009 1:37PM
They will re hire Jeff, then fire him again.
WINterfang @ Jul 14th 2009 11:39PM
That's a weird thing, this post was fully upvoted now is only 2.5 stars xD.
captainprotonx @ Jul 14th 2009 9:28AM
woof.
Hooligunn @ Jul 14th 2009 9:33AM
Woot. I actually really enjoyed Kane and Lynch, it only let me down by having no online co-op. Apart from that, strangely, I found it a very entertaining rental. Definetely glad to see a sequel, just hope they can improve it to make something good into something great.
The_Punisher @ Jul 14th 2009 10:09AM
Yeah, it was really a pretty fun g-
Sorry, i almost said it with a straight face.
emirabal @ Jul 14th 2009 12:02PM
Concurred, i currently just played it about a month ago and have to say that i thought it was well done for all the crap talked about it, yes it had its flaws, but i have played plenty games with flaws, also felt the story needed to be closed better, but im hoping the sequel answers my questions.
Mazrael @ Jul 14th 2009 2:12PM
trying the demo, my mate lasted 12 seconds before he had to turn that crap off.. I suffered through to the end.. I can't believe they even considered making a second game.. I guess when they pitched it, the higher up's laughed in their faces
j.howlett @ Jul 14th 2009 9:35AM
i don't know if that apology will cover it
WINterfang @ Jul 14th 2009 9:39AM
Everybody deserves a second chance.
zaglis @ Jul 14th 2009 9:40AM

Storm Eagle::The Blood Edge @ Jul 14th 2009 9:42AM
Oh man, look at it. It's pissing on EVERYTHING.....
Darkwun @ Jul 14th 2009 9:53AM
You'd be barking mad to play this.....
WINterfang @ Jul 14th 2009 10:45AM
that was terrible, somebody PUNish this guy!!!.
Josh @ Jul 14th 2009 9:53AM
The real shame about this is a number of hard-working programmers and designers are going to attempt to build a product that has such a negative stigma within the video game press.
Just look at how defensive this initial article is. Is anyone going to give it a fair shake?
uncle jesse @ Jul 14th 2009 9:56AM
I know, throw them a bone.
The_Punisher @ Jul 14th 2009 10:11AM
Yeah, it's a doggone shame.
Paul @ Jul 14th 2009 10:47AM
just let sleeping dogs lie
Lookhappy @ Jul 14th 2009 10:04AM
This is a weird post - did you actually fire someone for writing a negative review of a shit game? Or am I missing a joke or something more serious?
Neuromancer @ Jul 14th 2009 10:09AM
A while back Jeff Gersmann got fired from Gamespot, supposedly for his negative review of the 1st Kane and Lynch. He went on to form the awesome Giant Bomb website.
Neuromancer @ Jul 14th 2009 10:09AM
Oops typo, meant to write "Gerstmann".
Lookhappy @ Jul 14th 2009 10:30AM
ahh I see, cheers for the heads up :)
Think my brain is failing today
NaeemTHM @ Jul 14th 2009 10:32AM
Gerstmann is a great video game critic. People would constantly lash out at him for actually having an opinion. Remember all the shit he got for his 8.8 review of Twilight Princess? Man the internet is filled with whiny babies.
Getting fired from Gamespot was the best thing that could happen to him. It let the video game community see that he was a game journalist that kept it real, and we got the Giant Bomb (which kicks the crap out of Gamespot).
Sly @ Jul 14th 2009 3:48PM
ahh, i knew of the gamespot review debacle and i go to giant bomb every once in a while, but i didn't know they were related. hmm...
PedoJokerBear (aka Deeznuts) @ Jul 14th 2009 10:09AM
i hope the graphics dont drag its ass
dark_inchworm (on Steam!) dark inchworm (on XBL!) @ Jul 14th 2009 10:25AM
I'll buy it if it features a cameo from Scruff McGruff.
counterinsurgnt @ Jul 14th 2009 10:28AM
You know what, not only was the game awesome its one of the few that gave 250 more achievement points and 3 new maps FOR FREE!
Show some respect to people who are not money hungry jerks *looks at cliffyb*
Crimson_Ryan @ Jul 14th 2009 10:37AM
I might just give this dog a bone.
Levi (God Hand Defense Force) @ Jul 14th 2009 10:43AM
"Putting peanut butter on your genitals for Fido to lick off would be time better spent than playing Kayne & Lynch 2."
It's a good thing I don't write game reviews.
hellg @ Jul 14th 2009 10:44AM
give them a chance first...
Killzone 2 was a nice improvment...
Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood was another great improvement..
I don't have high hopes for this game, but you never know.
Metal Gear!? @ Jul 14th 2009 11:16AM
It is too bad that KZ 2's controls sucked a soggy fat one. I lost all interest in that game after the demo. Wondering if the controls patch could be/is added to the demo so I could try it out. Of what I played, I actually liked the single player of the first KZ(multi-player sucked ass though). Kane and Lynch sucks hardcore.
ChomskyKnows @ Jul 14th 2009 4:02PM
wtf are you talking about. neither of those 2 games has any relation to the publisher or dev of kane & lynch, or each other for that matter...
Kdiggy @ Jul 14th 2009 11:16AM
Kane and Lynch: Dog Days - doing reviewers doggie style
Bravo6 @ Jul 14th 2009 11:42AM
I really like the direction the first one took, but the gameplay itself was pretty weak. Hopefully they can improve on that and keep the dark, twisted storyline.
TheUnknownComicFan @ Jul 14th 2009 11:45AM
You guys fire Ludwig, but you won't fire Justin?
Johnny Neat @ Jul 14th 2009 4:05PM
This game needs major improvement and co-op period. If not, forget it.
ChomskyKnows @ Jul 14th 2009 3:35PM
If there was a way to punish the publisher and not the developer, i'd say the entire gaming press should take a giant shit on this game to avenge jeff gerstmann...
If they supposedly didn't fire him over it, then why did half the fucking gamespot staff quit after that bullshit. i removed gamespot from my myyahoo page feed when that happened.
jeff's review was right in line with the general consensus.
