Project Sora shows off its smashing new office

The room with the most furnishing is the office game room, seen above, which features an impressive array of consoles (including the dreamy Twin Famicom on the floor) and plants. "The cactus was a gift," Sakurai boasted.
As for what Sora is working on in this new space: "Our project is a secret!"

Wiizer (Michael Pachter MUST DIE.. Professionally) @ Jul 14th 2009 8:06PM
Geez, emulators on a desktop could cut out some of that hardware!
DBuck_Eye @ Jul 14th 2009 8:09PM
The hardware's what makes it impressive.
ShadowXOR @ Jul 14th 2009 8:10PM
He could ditch the PS3 too, that would save a lot of room. There isn't any paper under it, what is he using it for then?
McWilly @ Jul 14th 2009 8:37PM
Maybe he's using it as a dust magnet.
Cody @ Jul 14th 2009 10:05PM
ShadowXOR,
I think you meant to say the 360.
Longhorn of Myon [PSN: MariusElijah] @ Jul 14th 2009 10:33PM
No they cant take out the 360, the room will get cold
Bagels: Commander in Chief of the lolcat sarcasm alert force. @ Jul 14th 2009 11:26PM
I lol'ed @ all of you, even if I'm not sure of who's being serious and who's not.

Hardware > emulator
And is that a white PS3?
S. Tiger @ Jul 15th 2009 8:03AM
They're missing a LAN center.
arrness (PSN: chsowls) @ Jul 15th 2009 2:35PM
@ Spartan

Jinsenken @ Jul 14th 2009 8:10PM
I want a white PS3 :(
Sly @ Jul 14th 2009 8:12PM
all of sony's consoles look best in white IMO.
aristokrat @ Jul 14th 2009 8:14PM
How did they get a white one? Is it an aftermarket mod or a dev kit or something? That's freaking awesome, and I'll sell my 60 gigger for a white slim one day one.
Nerdy Desi @ Jul 14th 2009 8:23PM
A white 40gb PS3 has been out in Japan and Asia for a while now. Not sure if there are other variations of the white model, like an 80gb or 160gb.
Nerdy Desi @ Jul 14th 2009 8:25PM
According to wikipedia, the Ceramic White PS3 is available in the 40gb and 80gb models, both with 2 USB ports, no PS2 backwards compatibility, no card readers and SACD support, just like today's PS3 models.
Sly @ Jul 14th 2009 8:30PM
yeah, they've had the whites for a while now.
sony boy @ Jul 14th 2009 8:59PM
racist
aristokrat @ Jul 14th 2009 11:15PM
Bummer, why aren't they out here? Is Sony afraid they might sell too many PS3's or something?
B3astofthe3ast @ Jul 14th 2009 8:12PM
I want a sequal to brawl...NOW
ChromeAlchemist @ Jul 14th 2009 9:09PM
Doubt it. I would personally like to see something new, THEN Smash Bros sequel.
The Smash Bros sequel needs as much TLC as this one got, if not more.
LuiginDaisy @ Jul 14th 2009 9:11PM
I'd rather see a Smash Bros DS game come out.
R (XBL: Esoteric Lord) @ Jul 14th 2009 10:05PM
WTF would they add to a brawl sequel? Theres already a ton of chars, a ton and a half of items, and a map editor.
The only thing left to add would be decent online play, and thats more a problem with the wii/nintendo itself than the game.
Metayoshi @ Jul 15th 2009 2:11AM
@ R (XBL: Esoteric Lord):
Not necessarily... The Friend Code thing is definitely Nintendo's fault, but the net code of Brawl is just horrible. Mario Kart Wii and the Conduit, however, show a lot more potential for Nintendo WiFi Connection enabled games. Mario Kart, specifically, has no noticeable lag, all with 12 racers globally, items flying everywhere, and on race tracks much that are much larger environments than Brawl's stages. Sora could have definitely dealt with this, but I assume they chose not to, considering how bare-bones and unreliable it is compared to other Wii games that go online.
Not only that, there are definitely more characters that could be added to the pretty amazing roster of characters already on there. Mewtwo definitely could make a comeback if he was rebalanced, which he probably would be considering that no two Smash Bros. games are alike. Plus, some assist trophies could definitely become full blown player characters if they decided to put that much time into it. Isacc, Lyn, and even Lil' Mac come to mind, just to name a few.
The items this time are ridiculously unbalanced compared to SSB and Melee, where many guarantee KOs such as the Smash Ball or Dragoon. They could definitely change that up...
And the stage editor... It's versatile as it is, as we've already seen somebody propose with it not too long ago, but there could definitely be more pieces. For example, there's a right isosceles triangle with one of the sides facing down to create a slope, but there isn't a right isosceles triangle with one of the sides perpendicular to the ground and the hypotenuse facing downward creating a sloped ceiling instead of a sloped ground. The latter piece I described is exactly what the edges of Battlefield are, but it's impossible to recreate those type of edges with Brawl's current set of stage pieces.
A Smash Bros. sequel can definitely happen, and it will if you consider that even though Brawl is a great game in its own right, it is by no means a perfect game.
However, there's no way I'd want Sakurai to do it. I'd let him do the single player mode as I thought Subspace Emissary is one of the best things done to the Smash Bros. Series, but I'm one of those people who believe that Brawl's gameplay mechanics, specifically the physics, are inferior to both Melee and Smash 64. Sakurai's philosophy of "everybody is a winner" is a good one... But I believe it made what could have been one of the greatest games of all time into simply a great game. Especially in the tournament scene, I don't think Brawl is going to be anywhere near where Melee was back in 2007.
ArchiGamer [thephilosophyofgames.wordpress.com] @ Jul 14th 2009 8:17PM
That's the Entertainment Room of my dreams!!!
Nerdy Desi @ Jul 14th 2009 8:24PM
I just need a bigger screen and I'm good.
Sly @ Jul 14th 2009 8:33PM
yeah, i'd have a bigger wallmounted screen, a kickass sound system, and have all the consoles in hidden nooks in the wall. it looks cheap with them just out there like that.
Bagels: Commander in Chief of the lolcat sarcasm alert force. @ Jul 14th 2009 11:28PM
It's still cold and heartless without one thing: companions. :)
Ew, sorry if I got any soppy on you.
itbekevin2010 @ Jul 15th 2009 1:27AM

ximena79 @ Jul 15th 2009 11:09PM

pat1202003 @ Jul 14th 2009 8:18PM
Wow! It's beautiful!
yokel @ Jul 14th 2009 8:34PM
I'm really diggin the clean Japanese styling. It looks very pretty.
deanb @ Jul 14th 2009 9:06PM
Thats not clean at all, it's cluttered as hell it's just there's bugger all else in the room but consoles and a few plants.
At least they could of got a decent ( even bespoke) cabinet to put the consoles away neatly. and maybe get a cable tidy like most folks with a ton stuff hooked up to their tV.
Reader @ Jul 14th 2009 9:45PM
Seriously. My room is more clean and organized than that.
bongoes @ Jul 14th 2009 10:03PM
Clean? That's what my living room looks like! Minus the cactus and most of those game systems.
J-Link @ Jul 14th 2009 8:38PM
I wonder what amazing games they're making in that dream house. Perhaps a Kirby Wii?
Mr Khan @ Jul 14th 2009 9:29PM
It's supposed to be something new, something unique, and something Nintendo is otherwise incapable of.
Misfit Toy @ Jul 14th 2009 8:39PM
Looks awesome. I'll come work for you...except I have no skills. That won't be a problem will it?
ToadStoolPorridge @ Jul 14th 2009 8:43PM
that's a wicked set up they have there. I would love to have something like that. I have my PS3, Wii, and original XBox hooked up, and I thought that was pretty good :(
captainprotonx @ Jul 14th 2009 8:59PM
I'm loving the Twin Famicom (turbo) in the bottom right.
Makes me wish my Twin would be delivered this week. +( (sad cyclops).
Nytrojen @ Jul 14th 2009 9:06PM
Where's the Dreamcast? :(
ArchiGamer [thephilosophyofgames.wordpress.com] @ Jul 14th 2009 9:33PM
In Heaven, where it belongs.
Josh @ Jul 14th 2009 9:06PM
Beautiful.
Desert Eagle @ Jul 14th 2009 9:07PM
I'm not really a fan of one-liners, but after seeing this set-up, I can't say something else than this one word I am going to say...
DA-YUM!
j.howlett @ Jul 14th 2009 9:08PM
i'm jealous of the tv stand. i'm still rockin with the same one i put together in high school.
ChromeAlchemist @ Jul 14th 2009 9:10PM
Jesus. That's incredible. All I need is my credit card and I wouldn't have to leave the room.
LuiginDaisy @ Jul 14th 2009 9:13PM
I suggest he put the 360 out in the open on a flat surface, or he wont be able to play it for long. I just got RRoD right now.
captainprotonx @ Jul 14th 2009 9:16PM
I have every system in the picture, plus ten more.
After four systems, the wiring is a nightmare. But kudos for the Super Famicom and Twin Famicom still taking residence.
And of course, how could I have overlooked the model one Sega CD setup above the Twin!?
Mr Khan @ Jul 14th 2009 9:33PM
They better do something truly fantastic with that kind of leisure delight
