Tony Hawk Ride sequel already planned

There's probably going to be a sequel. To the tenth Tony Hawk game*.
Asked what else was happening at the company aside from development of the first Ride, Tsui said that "Obviously, we're very focused on getting this done, but being the creative types that we are, we're always writing up new game proposals and things we want to do." One of the new game proposals, of course, is Ride 2. "It's just a matter of timing," he said. "With Tony Hawk: Ride finishing up [we have to think about] the sequel to the game and where that fits into our schedules. It's a lot of juggling at this point."
Of course, while Robomodo has just started thinking about the sequel, it's been an absolute certainty at Activision since, say, 1999, as have annual Tony Hawk sequels from now until they outnumber humans.
*Not counting ports, handheld versions, or spinoffs like Tony Hawk's Motion.

Unless I can play it with a controller I don't care. Tony Hawk was simple and fun before but recent games have lost what made it a great intro to gaming for me.
Sayed @ Jul 15th 2009 2:01AM
I don't think you can mate, I'm hoping I'm wrong though i really loved Tony in the old days.
I just have to say though WTF!!!! How can they start planning a sequel to a game when they have no idea how well the first will do. Maybe Kotick is a wizard and can predict the future by sticking a guitar up his ass :P
JXCgunrunna @ Jul 14th 2009 6:55PM
well I could have told you that much
Mazrael @ Jul 14th 2009 7:02PM
It should say "A new Tony Hawks game is sheduled and set to release 6 months apart, with a brand new accessory to complement the board, so to keep things fresh.. also with our other franchise, players will be able to purchase foot pedals for guitar & bass players to add a new dynamic"
Look At This Suit @ Jul 14th 2009 6:55PM
This article really only needed to say "Activision."
mwrench @ Jul 14th 2009 6:56PM
Why don't they do a prequel or, even better, a postquel? Ya know, just to mix it up a bit...
sony boy @ Jul 14th 2009 7:15PM
what's the difference???it's not like they have a story.
Ashitaka @ Jul 14th 2009 8:14PM
A joke, perhaps?
Nadril @ Jul 14th 2009 6:56PM
New skateboard controller confirmed for Tony Hawk Ride sequel.
(you know it too).
Sly @ Jul 14th 2009 7:14PM
which makes buying this even more pointless.
kentuckyfried @ Jul 15th 2009 7:41PM
This time, it'll be made out of titanium and be able to support a max load of 1000 lbs instead of 250.
XGM @ Jul 14th 2009 6:57PM
Hey ill pull some analyst work here, there will be a sequel after this sequel too...
knor @ Jul 14th 2009 6:57PM
The only way i'll ever be interested in this game is if they tell me that is hovers, and that it won't work over water.
and that it will prevent my son from going to jail
Spike @ Jul 14th 2009 7:54PM
i'll wait for a 3rd party one by mattel

captainprotonx @ Jul 14th 2009 7:02PM
Is there going to be a GBA version?
ArchiGamer [thephilosophyofgames.wordpress.com] @ Jul 14th 2009 7:23PM
Might as well make it for the Virtual Boy for old consoles that have gone away.
Too soon?
captainprotonx @ Jul 14th 2009 7:26PM
And let's not forget the Dreamcast. Tony Hawk 2 was the #1 selling skateboard game for that system in 2000.
False @ Jul 14th 2009 7:56PM
Yeah, but plans can always change. If this bombs like a lot of people think it will, I could see the sequel getting cancelled.
Paper @ Jul 14th 2009 7:03PM
yea.. good luck with that. I will stick to my controllers thanks!
343 Guilty Fart @ Jul 14th 2009 7:08PM
*gasp*
ChromeAlchemist @ Jul 14th 2009 7:15PM
Of course it was confirmed, no one would pay a hundred quid for a board and one game.
Courtney @ Jul 14th 2009 7:16PM
Wow, I'm disappointed that this is only post tagged as "obvious" on Joystiq. That tag needs some more love people!
MystileArmor @ Jul 14th 2009 8:55PM
Pachter will fucking rape the flying fuck out of that tag and you know it.
Mr Khan @ Jul 14th 2009 7:17PM
I still say that the absolute least they could have done was put in Balance Board compatibility for the Wii version, but they didn't because they "wanted to have the same experience across SKUs..."
http://gonintendo.com/viewstory.php?id=89284
yeah.
Ashitaka @ Jul 14th 2009 8:16PM
Maybe because the balance board is teh sh1t?
Paul @ Jul 14th 2009 7:18PM
man if only I was tool that bought into all of this crap...
I could ride on this piece of shit skateboard and rock out with two plastic guitars...while seeing everything in night vision!
what's next a bullet proof vest with the next 50 cent pile?
The Dark Wang @ Jul 14th 2009 7:19PM
100 bucks says the sequel will be named 'Tony Hawk Ride Hero'
Kdiggy @ Jul 14th 2009 7:20PM
Tony Hawk: Ride 7, confirmed then?
ArchiGamer [thephilosophyofgames.wordpress.com] @ Jul 14th 2009 7:24PM
Damn you Activision!!!!!
Kyattsuai @ Jul 14th 2009 7:26PM
Good to know such an expensive and single-purposed controller will have more than one game, I suppose... How old is Tony anyway? Only a matter of time until Tony Hawk's Pro Stater, with rubber glove peripheral.
dagamer43 @ Jul 14th 2009 7:33PM
Honestly, if the games hadn't come out every single year like a Madden game, then it would definitely be for the best. But if they continue this year whore-ish attitude like they did in the past, Tony Hawk games are going to continue sucking.
ArchiGamer [thephilosophyofgames.wordpress.com] @ Jul 14th 2009 7:42PM
I love black-and-white loving!!!
Trep @ Jul 14th 2009 7:50PM
Why wasn't there a spoiler alert preceeding the title? It completely ruined the suprise!
Doc Doom @ Jul 14th 2009 7:59PM
The bastards.
Neuromancer @ Jul 14th 2009 7:53PM
That's amazing, I am looking for the perfect hot sexy celeb!
Dr. Ew @ Jul 14th 2009 7:59PM
To heck with TH:R, I'm waiting for the sequel to B l a c k W h i t e L o v i n g.c O m !
Neuromancer @ Jul 14th 2009 8:27PM
If they make a hoverboard game I may be forced to buy one of these silly things. But Ride 2? Forget it.
MystileArmor @ Jul 14th 2009 8:58PM
Yeah cause only the hottest chicks will date guys that found them through a website advertised in the comment section of a blog.
VaultICEE @ Jul 14th 2009 9:35PM
I've said it before, and I'll say it again.
The day that all people buying games realize Activision is the cheap whore of the industry and stop buying their games is the day I become happy.
I imagine at one point or another that Call of Duty will have a yearly peripheral.
korwyn @ Jul 14th 2009 10:28PM
I'm not looking forward to buy any of them, thank you.
Princessb89 @ Jul 14th 2009 9:53PM

Insert generic sarcastic "What?! A sequel?!" post here.
l555l PSN l555l @ Jul 14th 2009 10:48PM
The only way to justify a purchase of this is if they make a snowboarding game, a surfing game, and a flying hoverboard game. Tony Hawk games, not so much.
