It's time we checked in with the most popular games on Xbox Live from last week. Major Nelson's figures confirm our suspicions: Halo 3 once again dominated the competition, marking the third week in a row Master Chief's extra-terrestrial murder sim has been in the top spot. In tow were the usual suspects, including Call of Duty: World at War and Gears of War 2.
On the XBLA side, DICE's Battlefield 1943 emerged victorious, as many, many men and women enlisted in the new Arcade title, waging war across the islands of the Pacific. It would seem that despite major hiccups in its release, gamers just put their heads down and pushed through. We totally get it. The frustration of playing the game's menu-based QTE (see: trying to get into a match) is nothing compared to the sheer ecstasy of flying a plane into someone.

Nelson's site has it listed after W@W, so I'm not sure why it was omitted for GoW2..

Every week I am more and more heartbroken that people aren't giving Red Faction a chance. There is no better multiplayer game so far this year.

I always feel the same way about Ghostbusters. Such a fun multyplayer that no one plays.

Well, it was pretty much a given that Halo 3 would win this week. Tuesday was Bungie day, 7/7. People wanted Recon, so they logged on to get in to the Bungie vs. World playlist.
There were 185,000 players in that one playlist at its peak, in addition to relatively normal amounts of players in the other playlists... Halo 3 normally has 100,000-110,000 online at any one time.

I'd say that it depends upon how the 2nd multiplayer disc registers... If it registers as Halo 3, and not Halo 3 ODST, it probably won't change much. There will probably be a lot of people playing Fire Fight... It's like Horde, and people sure do love Horde...

yeah halo 3 is always near the top, but Bungie Day definitely ensured it would be first. i definitly put in a few hours myself (too bad the chance of any one person running into Bunie was less than half a percent, and that's if they played all 24 hours).
and yes, Horde is awesome. though the impression i get is that Firefight won't be as drawn out as Gears' Horde. it takes over two hours to play through all fifty levels in horde.
