FIFA 10 hits the pitch October 2 in the UK
51
MCV confirmed with EA that its latest entry in the long-standing soccer franchise, FIFA 10, will arrive at UK retailers on October 2. There's no mention of a release date for North America, so we've put in word to EA to see just when we Yanks will receive the game. We'll be sure to update you as soon as we hear back.

Another FIFA already?
It seems like with EA's yearly releases of it's sport games, time goes by faster and faster....

Yet the difference between gameplay in 08/09 was phenomenal, and converted many pro evo soccer fans back to the Fifa franchise.

I wouldn't say "back to FIFA".
PES/WE11 was reigning supreme since its first release up to the 360/PS3. Once the current gen hardware came out ... Konami did not revolutionize their games to take advantage of all the extra power, unlike EA who took the opportunity to give a big upper cut to Konami's PES.

If you're willing to part with your money now (they take your money now, not on dispatch), you can pre-order FIFA 10 for £28.79 using the code GAME20 (also applies to most, or all, other pre-order games for 20% off).
Also, there's at least one major change this year (haven't been following too much), 360-degree movement as opposed to 8-direction system from previous games.

USA gets the shaft once again. i understand the game is biggest in UK, but the EPL is even a couple weeks deep by then. by the time FIFA comes out, the current MLS season it's covering is already over.
i know it'll never happen, but i want an august release. that way its EPL preseason, and only about 2/3s of the way through the MLS season.

As you said, the EPL is possibly the main draw (I say that as a Man City fan though, so im bound to be biased), and I assume the delay is to ensure that all the transfers are through for the beginning of the season

the improvements promise to be worth the purchase, and if last year was any indication then i won't hesitate to make my wallet a little lighter. FIFA 09 was a vast improvement over 08, and i can only imagine that 10 will be another step forward for EA. IGN had a great interview with David Rutter (i think that's his name) talking about this year's game. in all honesty, i cannot wait to see what new stuff we get in this game. i want more stadium chants, player editing improvements (not being able to correct player model characteristics is kinda crappy...that and the shite selection of footballing boots), more precise passing, better goalies (already announced), more dramatic atmospheres (crowd oohs and aahs, or electric feel to an important league or cup game)....stuff like that. supposedly, EA might announce something really awesome for this year's build, but unfortunately i have no clue what that may be. read the IGN article...cheers, FIFA fans!

ARHHHH!!!! I hate how the Americans get to call football soccer. Just because our sport is more entertaining and popular around the world than their american football, which i think (correct me if im wrong) is only official played in north america, which copies rugby, they call it soccer because they're jealous :)
sorry for my little rant but i just hate how the American's dictate what your British made sport should be called.

I can understand you not liking the word 'soccer', but, er, the word was invented by us Brits.......which would make your argument like so:
Americans: 'Hi, friendly comrades, we already have a game we call Football in the US, what should we call the game you are playing over there so as to avoid confusion?'
British: 'How about 'soccer', good sirs?'
US: 'Fantastic! 'Soccer' it is!
British: 'DAMN YOU! DAMN YOU TO HELL!"

There's different kinds of football all over the world. Soccer is football, rugby is football, NFL is football. Why is it such a bad thing that we call it soccer so that we can differentiate it from the most popular American sport? It's been like 150 years since American's called it Football...I think it's time to get over it.
Also, I really, really doubt that Britain made soccer.

Erhmm.... Have you heard of wikipedia? Or maybe google?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soccer
Quoting the 3rd paragraph:
"The modern game was codified in England following the formation of The Football Association, whose 1863 Laws of the Game created the foundations for the way the sport is played today."
And no, I'm not british :)

1.) If you look at EA's announcement in the general section (NOT THE FIFA SECTION) it says the "International" release date is the 2nd. So apparantley we all get it at the same time.
2.)Soccer is a word invented in ENGLAND. The Brits wanted us to use "Soccer" for "Football", and use the word "Association Football" for rugby. Which is why our football is a mutated form of rugby.
So bitch at your own ancestors, not ours.

New transfers, New teams and New kits! But, what about Ultimate Team?
Is FIFA10 gonna have Ultimate Team? I wasted so many MSpoints buying training cards and player cards to create my Ultimate Team. Right now I'm selling a 99 Fernando Torres for 45,000, anybody here interested?

Manchester United is the most used team in FIFA09, in FIFA10 Real Madrid will be the most used team, with Cristiano Ronaldo, Kaká, Karim Benzema and with Xabi Alonso and Franck Ribéry later joining the team. Is really gonna be the team to use in FIFA10.

All the more reason FIFA needs an online mode that allows hosts to restrict teams based on criteria like leagues or skill level.

im guessing the european leagues are the main attraction in the game, isnt it logical for the fifa franchise to be produced in europe and not in canada, then they would overall have a better perspective and understanding of player growth and development etc. because they would be in a country where football is regulary mentioned and talked about in news papers etc.?

But then you get bias.
Especially if EA made it in a UK studio, I would think some teams might be magically un-relegated.

2 months after the start of the season. Interesting...
Also, Man City better not be stupidly overpowering. Yeah, they spent a ton of money have have 9 world class strikers on the books but it doesn't mean they'll all fit together.
Plus, Fifa is the only game I can play as the mighty Wycombe Wanderers. Must buy for me I reckon.

No way Man City is gonna be overpowered. Those players aren't that amazing. Real Madrid will be the overpowered team because FIFA doesn't take chemistry into account, only individual skill, which sadly Real Madrid has the most of..

Aye, hopefully Rangers will be more than 4 stars this year, but let's not get too carried away. We should have better stats than Celtic this year since winning the double.
I go Rangers who are like 73 but everyone else is Barca or Man Utd who are 83/84 and it's such a struggle.
