4 player local? I can see a TV screen getting really cluttered with all the activity a typical Battlefront game usually has. Two player is probably enough for a game like this.

i would agree if it was back in 2005, but with current gen consoles, most people have HDTVs, and most of them are pretty big. big enough for 4 player local.

A re-make of Tie Fighter? I would probably kill for that. So much childhood wasted on that game.

They did that already, they were directx windows games. How people quickly forget that both were remade already using the XvT engine.

I don't think a the updated graphics engine that came out in 1995(?) is what people are wanting. That's probably the version most of us have. I know its what I have. That game is hard enough to get running on xp and vista, don't even bother with windows 7. And yes I would also kill to get a modern version of these games.

Isn't that the company that somehow decide to remake Monkey Island, give us a NEW Monkey Island, and put a massive chunk of their software catalog on steam for chicken scratch all within the last month?

Yeah... nothing to get excited about here. Piss off.

Re-releasing a lot of their old games for next to nothing that are fully compatible with new hardware without dicking around. I don't think it's comparable.

Lucas Arts rereleasing long-forgotten classics for $10 isn't even in the ballpark of Square-Enix releasing the exact same games everyone has played already for $30 and $40.

You're missing the point. Re-releasing old games doesn't mean anything when you can't make anything new and decent.

New? As in that "NEW Monkey Island" game Telltale Games developed in cooperation with Lucas Arts?

You are trying so hard but keep falling short. At least you're determined...

How about new AND good? "Good" is generally considered better than "decent" isn't it? Because that's exactly what Tales of Monkey Island is, "good."

You must be confused with another game, cause it's not good. I'd use awful, but I'm in a good mood so I'll go with mediocre.

Woah I don't hate them with a passion, I save my hate for things like Halo and casual games. I just disliked them cause they tend to put art ahead of gameplay.

Yup, but only mediocre. Awful is for things that I think will be truly bad, like Two Worlds and The Conduit (right with both of those btw :P)

Revising your paper, I see. The Conduit was far from "awful" and way to go on that Two Worlds prediction! Can I get a round of applause for tmac being able to tell us that a game is bad almost 2 years after its release? Truly, Pachter has a successor and his name is tmac!

I said two worlds was going to be awful since the first gameplay videos were released.

The Conduit is just....beyond awful. Seriously, I tried to warn people not to get excited for it since HVS has never made a good game. I even gave them proof of it, but they didn't listen. So everyone who was disappointed with it, you have no one to blame but yourselves.

Sorry tmac, but I have a really hard time believing that you've played the Conduit. You know the drill: pics or it didn't happen. If you didn't play it, then you don't know whether it's awful or not.

There's the problem. I can't spend money on a game that I know is awful, whether it's by buying it new/used or renting it, that would just be dumb. Maybe when I get gamefly and after I get a Wii during x-mas.

It'll still be really hard for me to play it, since I play 360/ps3 FPS.

It's not uninformed when I know all about the game and have seen the countless scores ranging from mediocre to terrible, and I even predicted it would get these bad scores (actually got worse than I expected, saw some 4s and 5s in there).

I laugh at everyone who says you don't know anything about a game unless you play it. That's beyond ridiculous, as you can know all about a game and what it's like just by following it. What's the one thing I and many others said leading up to the game? That its only redeeming quality was controls. What's the verdict in all the reviews? *gasp* Controls! Everything else was trashed.

I'd love to see a real sequel to jedi knight. One that doesn't involve a shitty story and even shittier voice acting. Jedi Outcast's lightsaber gameplay was untouchable, but everything else in that game was garbage.

Unfortunately cinema-games are dead and buried... even wing commander which once championed it stopped after wing commander prophecy bombed -- the last WC release is an awful 2d arcade shooter on xbox live. Sigh. I *loved* the cutscenes in Dark Forces 2, I thought it was a taste of what the prequel movies were going to be like, but alas...

Hopefully it includes the Trilogy remake of Rogue Squadron for Wii. Word out of Factor 5 Germany still indicates "multiple" unannounced Wii projects still set for 2009, and we know from here http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/08/rumor-enhanced-rogue-squadron-trilogy-due-on-wii/
that it was in the works at some point. Rumors point in that direction.

Also Battlefront III, but that thing's been in development hell for some time, up to the point where rumor had it that the PS3 and 360 versions had been scrapped entirely

@tmac: i've played the hell out of the others, but a trilogy remake would be 1/3 new to me, given that i never played the original N64 game.

In a perfect world, Lucasarts would announce BF 3 and The Force Unleashed 2. However, since reality is imperfect, they will likely bore us with details on the clone wars series.......otherwise known as the death of everything I loved.

a game based on clone wars the tv show would suck, but a decent shooter set during that period would be great. come to think of it, have there been any star wars FPSes? if they do it right, they could make a GREAT FPS set in the clone wars.
