We know, we were shocked too! Well, maybe not shocked, considering that Resident Evil 4 popped up on the Japanese App Store before it was pulled right down. The game will return (legitimately this time) to Japan by month's end.
If you're nowhere near the Land of the Rising Sun, fear not! Capcom says the game will roll out to the rest of the world soon after.

Yeah definitely not for games we play now, they will need to develop games that fit with the iphone controls, new type of games.

Probably because they could come closer to the graphical fidelity of RE4 much easier than RE5. Also, I've always been under the impression that--while RE5 was a great game and well received--RE4 seems to be the more popular game, although part of that could just be that RE4 has been given more time to sink in.

Actually...I was being serious. I PERSONALLY don't know anyone who liked RE5 better than RE4, but that is just from my personal experience. RE5 was an excellent game, but RE4 was one of the absolute pinnacle games of last generation, so it's no dig at RE5 if it wasn't quite the same achievement as RE4.

Really? After playing RE4 on Wii, and then going back to analog controls in RE5, I found it very frustrating. I could only imagine the analog "nub" on PSP being even more frustrating. I'd rather them port the GCN REmake to PSP just because it's less action-orientated, suiting the PSP's control set up much better.

i'd love to see this on PSP too. i don't see the controls as an issue, of course i did not like or use the wii controls - i used classic controller...i liked the playtime better with that than even the wavebird when i played it one of many times on cube.
bring it on, i'll buy yet another copy of this game, hell....i may buy it for my wife on her itouch......which she's ALWAYS playing games on, the ds sits around alot nowadays.

Does anyone know if this is the full version of the game, or has content/areas been cut from the game? If it is the full game, that's incredible! If I had an iPhone, I'd get it!

Just to be a dick, I'd say less zombies on-screen and only one zombie model.

They did: Resident Evil Degeneration. It looks (and plays) pretty much the same as the game pictured in the above screenshot.
I wish Capcom would just port over Puzzle Fighter. That's a game I would buy on the iPhone.

I seem to think this is degeneration, and they just called it re4, because this is not the re4 i played, and degeneration is made for portables.

They did say they were going to start releasing "3G and under" versions of a game and "3GS" versions of a game.
In that cases, from what I know about the insides of the 3GS, they could easily pull off near ps2 quality graphics with the 3GS. The 3GS should put it about dreamcast level, and that's certainly doable for this game on a small screen.
For those talking about only having one zombie model, blah blah... You do realize there's not size restriction on the iPhone. There are games that take 10 megs, and there are games that take hundreds of megs. The sky is the limit for this.
Curious how it turns out..

Meh! I'm happy with the games that I've downloaded for $0.99, but a lot of games look great but play like poo poo.
The iPod/iPhone isn't powerful enough to support full quality games. And the file size of the games can't support the cost to consumers for games that pose as franchise hits.

I think you're wrong about the power, but the lack of hard controls might be a larger deterent as the only people that will get excited about a game like this are gamers coming from a "controller" mindset. To really sit and get comfortable with a game like this, an actual d-pad and buttons really help. Still, that iDracula game was very playable, control-wise, so who knows? I'll check it out when it lands.

Power is an issue, as well as controls, and file size. My copy of Let's Golf is fun but chugs like a teenager at a frat party. Read this quote below I found at http://www.hardcoreware.net/graphics-specs-compare-iphone-3gs-to-psp-to-ds/:
"Well the iPhone 3GS is fast, but not that fast. According to AnandTech’s report, the 3GS is running a PowerVR SGX, most likely at 200 MHz. at that speed, it can push about 7 million triangles per second, and fill at rate of 250 million pixels per second.
Compare that to the PSP, which pushes 33 million triangles per second, with a fill rate of 664 million pixels per second. (source)"

Agreed, I havn't got a single game that actually conrols well on my iPod touch, except maybe Rolando. 99% of games will control very badly on iPhone/Touch, no matter how much you change around the control scheme. Just curse Jobsy's button phobia.

Without getting into the iPhone as a console debate, I gotta comment on the controls: aiming that gun with the virtual analog looks atrocious. It might be fine for moving around, but not for aiming. I would bet money that they won't implement this, but I feel using the screen as a trackpad while in aiming mode would be a thousand times better. However, this is a port of RE4M that was available on other phones such as Nokias, so a trackpad aiming system would just require more work. It won't happen, and the game's control system will feel clunky.
But we'll all buy it anway XD

I just dont like that for iphone games, i have to use my finger for aiming, when i will be much more accurate with a stylus, and the finger wont be in the way.
Also my finger causes much more friction than a stylus, and just doesnt work.
