Kojima finally explains his wacky countdown site

Remember when Kojima's countdown ended ... and started another countdown? Man, that was fun! The creator of the Metal Gear series seemingly had a big laugh as he teased gamers all the way to his E3 announcements: Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker for PSP, Metal Gear Solid: Rising for PS3 and Xbox 360, and Castlevania: Lords of Shadow.

As the countdown continued, the site featured a number of symbols that flashed on the screen. Many of you attempted to break the code ... but were you successful? Kojima just revealed what each of those symbols was supposed to mean:

5 = it is an MGS5 class game
S = Snake
巳＝snake in Kanji
E = E3
R = Raiden
3 = 3 from 360 and E3
6 = 6 from 360
P and S = PSP and adding 3 makes it PS3

Once again, Kojima asks gamers: "Did you like it?" We think we can speak for most gamers when we say ... "no."

Yep. Kojima is damn lucky he has the fanbase he does because if it was any other developer, gamers would have lost interest.

Based on the success of this teaser, Kojima has announced he is making the official 'Metal Gear Puzzle' going multiplatform this fall 2009

What is that in the back there? An 8? There's no explanation for an 8! WHAT DOES THAT EIGHT MEAN?????

I liked it thanks to the Joystiq biomass attempt to decode it through MS Paint.

If Kojima wasn't all that then we wouldn't be here raving about him... yet here we are O_O And everytime a new MGS comes out, EVERYONE goes nuts... for a good reason...

Actually I loved the countdowns.. I was always on the phone with my brother 10 min before the end of each one - speculating about what will happen.

Then at the end we were both shocked, and we found it funny each time... beacause we knew - sometime, we would know what it's all about.

the most epic moment was when we saw THE BIG BIG BOSS FACE !!!

Wait... The Kanji and Hanzi (Chinese character) for snake is 蛇. (shé in Chinese and hebi in Japanese) That character 已 means 'already'...
Well, he is a Japanese guy so I probably shouldn't doubt him on this one....but he is Kojima, so maybe I should?
Anyway, stupid countdown. Where's the Z.O.E.!

That's 巳, not 已. (The last stroke touches the start of the first stroke)
巳, while itself is not the kanji of snake, it represents the chinese zodiac of snake.

Um...yeah speak for yourself Joystiq at least the man is trying to make figuring out the next game fun and a mind tease. What fun would it be if he just told us?
