PSA: Penny Arcade Adventures: Episode 3 still in development

It's been quite a while since we last got to command Penny Arcade's Gabe and Tycho around New Arcadia, pugilizin' giant fruit f###ers and sweepin' the boardwalk clear of barbershop quartets. So long, in fact, that we nearly forgot the series was intended to be episodic (we've been told that means every four to six months in PAA's case), which resulted in a call to series developer Hothead Games.

We were told by a Hothead rep this morning that, while no release date or information has yet been revealed about the game, "It [Episode 3] is still in development." Would it be fair to say we'll hear more about the game in the upcoming weeks leading up to PAX 2009? From the conversation we had this morning, we'd say that sounds mighty likely. With PAX 2009 just six short weeks away, we may not be waiting too much longer before we hear something more official.

Yeah, I enjoyed the first 2 games. Looking forward to the next one... but with a new monkey island, my point and clicking time is currently occupied.

Maybe they're going to release it on a disc? Or maybe they're just busy with Deathspank. I'm hoping for the disc thing though.

It was delayed because they got a new CEO before E3, which messed with their schedule.

The problem with most episodic content is that one or two episodes gets made and then... it's eons before the next.

Yeah I just started thinking about this a few days ago. I thought there would be one in August. Oh well... I will be happy to wait for such a funny game and maybe by then I will have an HD tv so I won't have to strain my eyes trying to read it!

Wow, that's good to know I guess. I love the first two episodes (still have to complete the 2nd one) and I was wondering when they are going to come out with the third one.

I wanted so very much to like the first episode, but didn't. I like the humor and the art, just not the game play. Oh well, maybe they'll come out with a Lookouts game.

I'm a big fan of the gameplay, at least of what I've seen from Ep1. I wonder if they'll have a sale on Ep2 right as Ep3 comes out, which is how I got my hands on Ep1 when Ep2 came out.

Damnit, I'm just stuck on the last boss of the first episode. Looking forward to playing them all eventually though.

What does everyone have against the gameplay? I thought it was fun and easy going. More of an RPG than say, Diablo but simple enough to jump in and play for a short while without too much effort. Episode 1 was good, Episode 2 was great. Let's hope that Ep. 3 continues the trend.

this is the game series that got me interested in playing sam and max and the monkey island games, so i'm very happy that they will eventually come out with the third game, can't wait to play the game with the CTS suit i unlocked on the hardest difficulty
