Shadow Complex script penned by comic book scribe Peter David
Epic Games and Microsoft Game Studios are ramping up for the impending release of Chair Entertainment's Shadow Complex on XBLA, today revealing that the game's script was written by Eisner Award winning author Peter David. David has worked on various comic book titles for numerous imprints, but is probably best known for his run on The Incredible Hulk. He currently writes She-Hulk and X-Factor for Marvel. The script for Shadow Complex is adapted from work by sci-fi author and visionary Orson Scott Card, whose 2006 novel, Empire, is based on the game's universe and an original concept by game designer Donald Mustard. David has written a story that parallels the events of the novel, which itself focuses on a future American civil war. We recently saw the game in action and wrote up our impressions.
David, Mustard and Epic's Cliff Bleszinski will be on-hand at next week's San Diego Comic-Con to promote the game, which hits the Xbox Live Marketplace on August 19.

She-Hulk was actually canceled some time ago, but at some point this year David with artist Eric Nguyen will be releasing the next Marvel Halo comic called Halo: Helljumpers.
(Figured that would interest some people around here, at least)

You're fucking kidding me... his name is Peter AND David? His dad probably thought it was funny.

Could've been worse. It could've been "David David", "Lee Roth David" or "Pilot Inspector David".

Awesome, I love Peter David. His X-factor is one of my favorite current marvel books, right after all the Abnett and Lanning written cosmic stuff.

X-Factor is the best X-book on the stands and one of my favorite comics at the moment, so this news only serves to make me more excited for Shadow Complex.

I agree X-Factor is the best X-book right now.

Considering the novel Empire is a pile of terrible dreck, it is excellent news that Card is not writing the game. Here's hoping that the backstory in Shadow Complex is kept to a minimum.

Can someone tell me why Shadow Complex has a 10 hour plus campaign and Gears of War has a 7 hour campaign?

Peter David is now a hack. I love his old work, but the man has not produced.
McWeen @ Jul 17th 2009 7:49AM
Have you even read his current run on X-Factor? Give it a try.

Peter David is ok, but he's not as good as Jeph Loeb.
Dehumanizer @ Jul 17th 2009 11:09AM
You've *got* to be kidding. Red Hulk is the worst comic I've read in years...

I was reading Peter David's work over 20 years ago. His work on the Incredible Hulk with Todd McFarlane, and later with Dale Keown, is truly the stuff of legend. Mr. Fixit, indeed. Peter David was awesome then and he is still awesome now. I find it somewhat ironic, that almost 20 years after leaving his original stint on X-Factor, that he has returned.
Fans of his comics, should give a read-thru of some of his novels. I highly recommend the Sir Apropos of Nothing series, the Psi-Man series, Howling Mad, and the first boon in his current series, The Darkness of the Light.
Peter David is a wonderful author no matter what medium he is working in. Shadow Complex was already a day one download, but with news of Peter David's work on the project revealed, then August 19th cannot get here soon enough.
