They are a death metal band just like The Eagles are a rock band.
Hence, they are The Eagles of Death Metal.
Shaun @ Jul 18th 2009 4:31AM
I want some more Eagles DLC... maybe Already Gone, Those Shoes, Take It Easy, Witchy Woman, Good Day In Hell, The Long Run...
I assumed Eagles of Death Metal were a thrasher hard rock band, but since you said that, I listened to the vids and dig them.. I'll probably pick up the track pack now.
willie @ Jul 17th 2009 11:10PM
DAMN! this one is SERIOUSLY making me consider picking this game up.
three EXCELLENT songs from an awesome band
Hafkie @ Jul 17th 2009 11:25PM
If I were you , I would just wait til GH5. You could download this pack in it, and there is a Eagles of Death Metal song in the game, so you would have 4 songs. Also, GH5 will have a better vocal engine (Hopefully the one in Smash Hits), and is more Rock Band-like with its band play, so it should be better overall. Also, you don't have to suffer through GH:WT. (Which has, half good, half filler, maybe? I never play it anymore.)
willie @ Jul 17th 2009 11:29PM
ah sweet, i was thinking about doing just that. also because it'll have vampire weekend and megadeth AND children of bodom. im just waiting to see how the menus and the presentation looks, if it looks anything like 2 or 3, then sure i'll pick it up. world tour looks like TRASH, i'm very glad i purchased rock band 2 instead.
Sly @ Jul 17th 2009 11:51PM
world tour was good only because of hendrix, van halen, the eagles, nirvana, and michael jackson. all the rest was meh.
Hafkie @ Jul 18th 2009 12:09AM
I have seen the play song menu and multiplayer game rules menu in a few videos.
http://img259.imageshack.us/img259/9158/gh5modes.png
They are blurry, but it already looks a hell of alot better than WT's Song selection menu. Those green bars seem to be difficulty meters (like RB2), but at the same time, it looks the the white area might also show a list of high scores per instrument/difficulty, or even percentages, which is a nice feature. Rock Band 2's menu only fails because of how it shows scores and it doesn't show stars. (Guitar and Bass in single player are all clumped together, and there is no "difficulty" known on where you got the score, or in band play, what instruments were used to get it. Also, I'd like to know if I Gold/5 stared a song, I loved beating RB1's single player career and then striving to Gold Star the game. I played Run to the Hills and Green Grass and High Tides so many times!)
All in all. It looks alot better than World Tour. Now lets just hope they let you use the console's text imput like RB. Everything in my WT, M, and SH games is named A because I don't have the patience to work my way through a up and down letter entry system.
VaultICEE @ Jul 18th 2009 12:18AM
Luckily, the patch for RB2 that includes the stars in the quickplay menu should becoming shortly with this Rock Band Network update.
The Baron @ Jul 18th 2009 8:45AM
Is GH5 confirmed as compatible with GHWT dlc?
Hafkie @ Jul 18th 2009 12:00PM
Yes.
cafecito @ Jul 17th 2009 11:15PM
O RLY? Can't say I´ve heard about them. But then again, I'm not exactly knowledgeable when it comes to music.
Iroquois @ Jul 17th 2009 11:16PM
If you've ever heard of Queens of the Stone Age, their frontman Josh Homme is a member of Eagles of Death Metal. So maybe that will give you an idea of what they're like.
MystileArmor @ Jul 17th 2009 11:20PM
If you like Josh Homme, keep an eye out for the new Arctic Monkeys album that's coming out soon. He produced it.
Sly @ Jul 18th 2009 1:00AM
isn't the guitarist from queens of the stone age playing with the dead weather now?
main2000 @ Jul 17th 2009 11:28PM
Jesus christ, why do i have to pay extra to play an already retarded game, for some few "stupid songs". Its like being asked to suck some pointy stick and swallow for the rest of my life...
MystileArmor @ Jul 17th 2009 11:54PM
You don't HAVE to... who's making you? You idiot.
VaultICEE @ Jul 18th 2009 12:19AM
Haaaaaaaaahahahahaha
Thats like asking "WHY SHOULD I BUY ANOTHER OASIS CD? I ALREADY HAVE THE FIRST ONE!"
MystileArmor @ Jul 18th 2009 1:02AM
Funny you mentioned Oasis. My favourite band of all time.
Ubercharged @ Jul 18th 2009 1:21AM
The fact that Oasis is anybody's favorite band is sort of sad.
MystileArmor @ Jul 18th 2009 1:41AM
Ok, so what's your favourite band then?
Fact is Oasis is still the biggest band in the UK. They still consecutively sell out every single gig they play in their home country. From a pure technical standpoint they're an excellent live band. Not to mention the fact I got tremendous amounts of respect for any band that puts stuff out on their own label and does whatever the fuck they want to do and STILL be succesfull.
Either way, Oasis is my favorite band. That's my opinion, fucktard.
ryanpaulmcgowan @ Jul 18th 2009 2:32AM
And Lady Gaga had a #1 hit in both the U.S. and the U.K. at the same time ~ something very few artists have achieved.
So... whats your point? That you like a band with a track record of mediocrity. Good for you?
MystileArmor @ Jul 18th 2009 10:36AM
My point is that music is subjective, you bunch of fucking asshats.
Zoidberg! @ Jul 18th 2009 4:33PM
And my opinion is that Oasis sucks.
PollockRoc @ Jul 18th 2009 6:08PM
@MystileArmor His favorite band is probably someone totally underground no one knows about because they're so rad and hip...You just wouldn't understand, dude.
Paul @ Jul 17th 2009 11:46PM
they need to stop fussin about and get some kyuss on these games!
clo303 @ Sep 15th 2009 5:30PM
that would be fuckin epic agreed, RIP KYUSS
fantastic dan @ Jul 17th 2009 11:55PM
"the eagles of death metal" is the what josh homme described the death metal band 'vader' as upon hearing them.
also, if there was kyuss in these games i might consider playing them. might.
Richie_Tozier @ Jul 18th 2009 12:00AM
Kyuss is in Guitar Hero Metallica. Demon Cleaner if i'm not mistaken.
CFICARE @ Jul 18th 2009 12:01AM
Kyuss was in GH:Metallica. Demon Cleaner was the track.

best comment ever
Brett from Atlanta @ Jul 18th 2009 6:45PM
ha, wondered if anyone would use that one. Also, just throwing this out there, but Axl Rose is a douche and a half.
Petebot330 @ Jul 18th 2009 3:04PM
EoDM are awesome. Still have yet to get a rhythm game (yeah i know)--will most likely (probably definitely) be getting Rock Band 2. Are those instruments compatible with GH games?
muir666 @ Jul 18th 2009 7:13PM
Joystiq have a instrument compatability chart on there home page so go check :)
Alzheimers @ Jul 18th 2009 10:05PM
I don't think they've released decent DLC for GH since, ever.
How about picking a band somebody's heard of?
False @ Jul 19th 2009 5:42PM
"I don't think they've released decent DLC for GH since, ever.

Considering that the Eagles of Death Metal DO have a following and that GHWT HAS used big-name bands (The Eagles, Paul McCartney and Wings, Smashing Pumpkins) as DLC before, I'm going to assume you're either trolling, a RB fanboy, or a moron.
Kole @ Jul 19th 2009 1:02AM
Eagles of Death Metal are crazy-fun to see live. If I owned GH:WT I'd be all over this. I'll wait until GH5 though, that seems more worth a purchase.
Why isn't "Don't Speak (I Came to Make a Bang)" on here, though? Or "Speaking in Tongues"? There's plenty from the band that would work.
clo303 @ Sep 15th 2009 5:28PM
i agree with paul he knows whats^ rip KYUSS
