Greenberg forgets that these sales only reflect America, the land of the sheep, and 360 replacements

Didn't you know?

Microsoft thinks North America = The World
So this doesn't surprise me.

This is why people in other regions (i'm in the UK), get screwed over time & time again when it comes to Live content.
America always gets tonnes of free stuff & exclusive content.
We get charged more for less content :?

It's good news & all, but it may not be as good as it sounds once you take the other territories into consideration.

But they're doing pretty well in Europe too, aren't they Hornet?

AFAIK they're only really struggling in Japan, which is like 1/10th the market size anyway.

They're doing quite well in most of Europe - pretty much neck & neck with the PS3 overall.
But the 360 is more favored here in the UK.
Everyone i know has one. I'm the only one with a both 360 & PS3 (+GamingPC) - but i rekon that's coz i'm a 'core' gamer : )

yeah but that 1 country is also known for contributing over 50% of the worlds total gaming sales revenues year after year.

lets compare japan console sales to the US:
about 4.4 million ps3 and 360 consoles have been sold in japan
while over 26 million ps3 and 360 consoles have been sold in the US.
and in all other parts of the world including the EU & UK, there have been about 22 million ps3 and 360 console sales...

there you have it 26 million ps3 and 360 consoles sold in the US
about 26 million sold in the rest of the world.

the guys at MS know what they are doing and talking about. its the dingbats at sony that say things i never understand, make no sense, and have little market viability.

@ Hornet

MS would be happy to give you all the content that LIVE offers. It's sad you think they wouldn't. It's the copyright holders, duh! You know what a copyright holder is? The people that control the content.

Just like you can't watch Hulu outside the US is the same reason why a lot of LIVE content doesn't make over to the EU.

Honestly... who can even keep up anymore. I think a lot of people who have a console already are content in owning just one. I know I would like to own a Wii and PS3. But I can't even find the time to play all the cool games I bought on the 360. Man I wish I were a kid again and didn't have to work or have other responsibilities. Why was it easier for me to own multiple consoles back in the PS1/N64 era? There are WAAAAY too many games to keep up with. I have about 5 I plan on buying this fall. Ugggh!

What console war? it has been over for a while, new peripherals might fuel it again but we know who has the better one (if it works)

the first half of 2008 wasnt exactly the Xbox 360's shining moment, and the first half of 2009 was.

logic.
