Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet should be called OMG WANT
Guys, there's a sweet trailer for Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet making the rounds and if you haven't seen it, consider this post an invaluable service. You have to watch it, and we've made sure to tuck it past the break for that purpose. What? No more reading. Go watch it. Now!
...
Okay, now that you've witnessed its glory, it's only natural to feel a need to fork over some cash. As it turns out, that's exactly what Shadow Planet Productions needs right now, but before you go grabbing that hammer and giving your piggy bank the evil eye, Shadow Planet Productions probably needs more than the $15 you have in there. Good thing Joystiq's biggest demographic is CEOs for investment companies!
We've put in some questions to the minds behind this game, and will be sure to post them up as soon as we hear back. While you wait, may we suggest you watch the trailer again?
[Thanks, Tiago!]

DO WANT
Matthew @ Jul 17th 2009 8:44PM
AGREE.
We need more 2d side scrollers. I've been playing a lot of Mega Man II and Earthworm Jim these days, so this trailer definitely struck a chord.
By the by, anyone else notice that the game creator's name, Michel Gagné, loosely translates to 'Michael WIN'?
pearl @ Jul 18th 2009 2:57AM
if Patapon were Spore's tribal phase this game would be its space phase
Jrinswand @ Jul 17th 2009 6:26PM
Eww, I enjoyed a Dimmu Borgir song.
sicsided @ Jul 17th 2009 6:28PM
no, it enjoyed you.
Eduardo Hoeller @ Jul 17th 2009 7:54PM
This song's name, please?
majorfalcon @ Jul 17th 2009 8:02PM
“Blood Hunger Doctrine” from the album Death Cult Armageddon by Dimmu Borgir

UFO simulators promote abductions and anal probes.
Damian @ Jul 17th 2009 6:28PM
Im not seeing the problem here.
Damian @ Jul 17th 2009 6:27PM

Ashitaka @ Jul 17th 2009 6:47PM
PSN Release Please!
This so looks like Extraterrestrial Patapon!
Sly @ Jul 17th 2009 7:06PM
agreed with ashitaka.
ChuckBartowski @ Jul 17th 2009 7:31PM
WiiWare Too!!!!!!
Damian @ Jul 17th 2009 7:36PM
JUST RELEASE IT ON EVERYTHING!,my Dreamcast is gathering dust.
Maverick Saturn (Igor) @ Jul 17th 2009 8:02PM
In that case, wait here, I'll be back with my commodore!
chispito @ Jul 18th 2009 12:55AM
My reaction was it was a cross between Patapon and Lunar Lander. I happen to like the look of Patapon and the gameplay of Lander, so that's good news to me.
Huon @ Jul 19th 2009 9:38PM
Do you honestly think an analog stick would be sufficient in a game like this?
If it's not controlled by a mouse it better be controlled by my mind.
tcc3 @ Jul 17th 2009 6:27PM
We need more 2-d side scrollers with modern graphical capabilites. Why does everything have to be 3d?
Well done. Looks hard and fun.
Marty @ Jul 17th 2009 6:32PM
I kind of enjoyed the fact that your avatar is in complete contradiction to your message.
james @ Jul 17th 2009 6:35PM
i agree. The graphics in this wow'd me more than most games these days.
Ashitaka @ Jul 17th 2009 6:50PM
@ Marty
I fail to see that 'complete contradiction'. He has a 3d avatar, so? What's that got to do with the fact that he wants 2d side scrollers?
majorfalcon @ Jul 17th 2009 8:00PM
he said "why does everything have to be 3d"
and his avatar is 3d.
its called irony.
U U D D L R L R B A SELECT START @ Jul 17th 2009 8:15PM
Because he is stating not everything needs to be in 3-D while his avatar is a 3-D representation of a 2-D character.......
Wait for it I'm sure it will dawn on you.
I can make a power point presentation further illustrating this concept for you if neccessary.
azuravian @ Jul 17th 2009 8:31PM
It's even more ironic, because he has a 3d avatar of an animated character from a show that is 2d.
Ashitaka @ Jul 17th 2009 9:16PM
He was *obviously* talking about videogames when he said 'everything'
... smartasses.
EGOvoruhk @ Jul 17th 2009 10:21PM
Futurama doesn't take place on a 2D plane...
Z (uburi) @ Jul 18th 2009 12:20AM
I HAVE HAD IT WITH THESE MOTHERFUCKIN' FUTURAMAS ON THIS MOTHERFUCKIN' 2D PLANE!
Levi @ Jul 17th 2009 6:28PM
Solar Jetman 2009!
This is the second post that I saw first on TigSource earlier :)
Macabre @ Jul 17th 2009 8:19PM
omgwtfbbq that's exactly what I thought as I was watching the video!
Props to all who remember how badass Solar Jetman was, waaaay ahead of it's time. Physics calculations on friggin' 8-bit NES? Getdafuggouttahere!
This game looks to be just as sweet, I'm freakin' sold already!
Levi @ Jul 17th 2009 8:25PM
I loved Solar Jetman. Such an awesome game. Admittedly it hasn't aged well, but I have very fond memories of it. Specifically, the bonus levels. Also, throwing the NES controller on a game over. Ahh, the good old days...
Marty @ Jul 17th 2009 6:32PM
Looks pretty good - if it turns out to be more than trying to keep your spaceship from hitting the edges all the time, I might just have to pick this up.
Aaron @ Jul 17th 2009 6:35PM
This looks really promising. Wow, it's like if Patapon hijacked a space saucer and found a planet of 2-D shadow monsters and had a zap-everything fest. Now if only it will get to market and not lose any of it's charm in the interim then I'll be very happy.
And for the record, I have never enjoyed Dimmu Borgir until now. It would be perfectly alright with me if they did the soundtrack because, so far, it fits the game nicely. Just no singing, ever.
Sly @ Jul 17th 2009 6:35PM
it looks AMAZING! i love the art style. and was it just me, or did anyone else get a patapon vibe during some parts?
Damian @ Jul 17th 2009 6:39PM
It definitely looks very Patapony, that is not a bad thing, fucking love patapon.
Sly @ Jul 17th 2009 6:48PM
agreed. patapon 1 & 2 are my favorite handheld games of all time.
Pachter the Haiku Artist @ Jul 17th 2009 6:35PM
I really dig the art design here. Do want.
Stacky @ Jul 17th 2009 6:36PM
Love the artwork. Reminds me of world of goo.
ChuckBartowski @ Jul 17th 2009 7:29PM
Exactly what i was thinking...
Ashkental @ Jul 17th 2009 6:38PM
Cool, but in order for me to get it it must head to PSN, a XBLA release would be really good to but i don't own an Xbox
Enosoma @ Jul 17th 2009 6:50PM
Sure, with that badass music the game looks like a killer.
But put the same trailer to the "Benny Hill" theme and...
Rob @ Jul 17th 2009 7:02PM
It becomes awesome beyond words!
Kevin @ Jul 17th 2009 6:56PM
Metroid meets PixelJunk meets Patapon?
Nomi @ Jul 17th 2009 7:03PM
Patapon + Pixel Junk Shooter
Rob @ Jul 17th 2009 7:06PM
I want this, I want this more than anything... well maybe not as much as food and shelter, BUT IT'S A CLOSE SECOND!
Rob @ Jul 17th 2009 7:10PM
Also, If this is what Patatpon feels like, I think Sony just sold another PSP.
Sly @ Jul 17th 2009 8:28PM
it's what patapon feels like. trust me.
capt_carl @ Jul 17th 2009 7:08PM
OMG WANT is the understatement of the century.
Jose @ Jul 17th 2009 7:20PM
Looks like Patapixeljunk Shooter?
Phil @ Jul 17th 2009 7:21PM
This looks good. I hope it sees an actual release.
