Blow confirms a few details about next project

A few weeks ago, he began "working on the game in earnest," and is now hiring 3D artists to help realize his vision. He assumes it will be another downloadable title, but isn't sure -- it's not set to drop for two years if his team stays on schedule, and who knows what platforms will be around then? Blow said we should hear more concrete details about the title as his team begins to produce some concept art and in-game visuals. We'd suggest keeping an eye on his blog 'til then.

It looks like that guy is holding a festive penis pump.
WINterfang @ Jul 18th 2009 1:25PM
Does a Penis pump makes your penis larger or just help you get an erection.
not that I need neither of those two things..>_>.
Sly @ Jul 18th 2009 1:45PM
neither. it "pleasures" you.
LaughingTarget @ Jul 18th 2009 2:02PM
Neither. When you're low on penis, you turn it on and it pumps more from the penis well.
Leroy_Octopus @ Jul 18th 2009 2:08PM
I think Laughing Target wins!
WINterfang @ Jul 18th 2009 3:58PM

Put a scarf and thick frame glasses on that guy and I might believe it.
bongoes @ Jul 18th 2009 1:15PM
That Braid picture is what it would look like if Epic made it. Except the guy would be bald.
The Dark Wayne @ Jul 18th 2009 1:18PM
"It's time to kick ass and chew contemporary game trends, and im all outta trends"
WINterfang @ Jul 18th 2009 1:26PM
Dark Wayne you enhance the internet with your presence.
FAnchax @ Jul 18th 2009 10:26PM
Epic would also put a new multiplayer support with constant lag/host issues
Vcize @ Jul 18th 2009 1:16PM
I just stopped by to say that picture is awesome. Well done.
The Dark Wayne @ Jul 18th 2009 1:18PM
i believe it's from this year's April "Game Infarcer" the April fools thing Game Informer does every year for a couple pages

Your beliefs are true, although this one was from 2 years ago. If you like this, wait till you see last year's "Assassin's Creek".

I'm so stupid. I said Braid was two years ago when it was this year's. Gawd, I feel like a bimbo.
WINterfang @ Jul 18th 2009 1:17PM
I'll probably like a game about the picture better.
Sly @ Jul 18th 2009 1:46PM
that's what i was gonna say.
Vcize @ Jul 18th 2009 1:18PM
Well, I meant the picture with the caption.
WINterfang @ Jul 18th 2009 1:27PM
Is there other picture?
Bubbameister33 @ Jul 18th 2009 2:04PM
lol
Exploding Barrel @ Jul 18th 2009 2:51PM
I'm sure this new game will forever change the face of interactive entertainment, as opposed to being an overhyped, yawn-inducing platformer with a questionable art style and floaty, sluggish controls. (Yes, I know I'm going to be downvoted in a matter of seconds.)
Saria the Cat @ Jul 18th 2009 3:03PM
I'm sorry, but Jonathan Blow is an ass and anything that comes out of his mouth is full of douchebaggery. Braid WAS good, but he is/was full of himself all over. I'll buy his new game if it's just as good, but every time I hear something he has to say, I just feel more put off. I just need to ignore it so I can enjoy the game. It's great that he's so open about his development process, but it'd be a lot better if he dialed down his complaints about how expensive everything is yet how he also needs to live comfortably, his exalts about his own creativity, and his criticism of the people who may play his games.
Saria the Cat @ Jul 18th 2009 3:06PM
"Work with a small team on a puzzle-exploration game that is philosophical, and quiet, and is being made for reasons other than crass profit motive."
I mean, come on! If he really didn't care about making profits, he wouldn't have complained every single step of the way when Braid wasn't making as much as he wanted. If he was a starving artist, he'd be a starving artist. I'm not saying anyone should be, but people shouldn't market themselves that way if they're not going to live up to it.
why not the LS2LS7? @ Jul 18th 2009 3:09PM
No, you see, this guy's different. Other people do it for the money. But he does it from the bottom of his heart.
The Dark Wayne @ Jul 18th 2009 3:11PM
yeah he's like your typical english pompous asshole, only instead of being a king, he makes games
WINterfang @ Jul 18th 2009 4:01PM
I like the Fable guy better, he has this cute thing about him, like a grandfather or a teddy bear.
The Grand Hero @ Jul 18th 2009 5:28PM
"If he really didn't care about making profits, he wouldn't have complained every single step of the way when Braid wasn't making as much as he wanted."
I think you're confusing Jonathon Blow with Clover creator Daniel Jones. Blow didn't initially expect Braid to make back its own budget.
Saria the Cat @ Jul 18th 2009 4:55PM
@The Grand Hero: Even if he didn't expect Braid to cut a profit, he still complained that it wasn't paying the bills. If you didn't expect your product to make back its own budget, why complain when it doesn't?
WINterfang @ Jul 18th 2009 5:02PM
I agree wit Saria, not because she is smoking hot but because she speaks the true, the guy is full of bullshit.
The Grand Hero @ Jul 18th 2009 5:33PM
"Even if he didn't expect Braid to cut a profit, he still complained that it wasn't paying the bills. If you didn't expect your product to make back its own budget, why complain when it doesn't?"
I don't recall him ever complaining about it; he simply pointed out that such was the case.
WINterfang @ Jul 18th 2009 6:03PM
If he is pointing this out, it's because it obviously bother him and if money wasn't an issue why is Braid on of the most expensive Arcade titles?
why not the LS2LS7? @ Jul 18th 2009 7:29PM
No, I'm not getting Blow confused with the Clover guy. Here's Blow explaining that Braid had to cost so much so he wouldn't be bankrupt or in debt.
http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3169222
But remember, Blow doesn't care about the money.
The Grand Hero @ Jul 18th 2009 9:38PM
"Doing it for the money" and trying to make enough off your work that you don't have the bank foreclose on your house is hardly the same thing. I've yet to see him preaching the starving artist model.
why not the LS2LS7? @ Jul 18th 2009 3:08PM
I for one can't wait for Jonathan Blow's next overrated title.
Nadril @ Jul 18th 2009 3:17PM
I beat braid a few days ago (I know, I know -- late to the party) and I can't imagine why someone would think that it is overrated. As far as story telling goes no other game has really done it as well as Braid has. I thought the puzzle elements were innovative ways of using time even if a few puzzles were mind numbingly difficult.
And hell, I loved the art and the music behind it as well. I can understand if it isn't your kind of game but I find it hard to believe that it would be an overrated game, I think it deserves all the praise it has gotten.
Ashitaka @ Jul 18th 2009 5:13PM
"As far as story telling goes no other game has really done it as well as Braid has."
Thank gawd.
Nadril @ Jul 18th 2009 5:33PM
Not sure I understand Ashitaka. You don't want stories in video games being more than just an excuse to blow shit up or move the game along? =/
It's not like it was just the story anyways, but I liked that braid actually used gameplay mechanics as an integral part of the story. (which isn't a linear story but something different).
ignfan69 @ Jul 18th 2009 7:43PM
I'm sure the new braid will spearhead the fad of 2000 pt arcade games much like braid laid brick for the 1200 price point.
Thanks a bunch Senor Blow.
