Battlefield 1943 weapons will return in Bad Company 2

If you're reading this, the chances are pretty high that you're completely addicted to Battlefield 1943. You're probably beside yourself with worry that when Battlefield Bad Company 2 hits, those fancy-schmancy present-day weapons will be just too complicated for you. You may be in luck, however, if a recent tweet by @OfficialBF1943 is to be believed (and why wouldn't it -- it's official, after all.)

The tweet says that 1943's semi-auto rifle, sniper rifle and sub machine gun will all be usable in Bad Company 2. Whether that's in multiplayer only, an added bonus for 1943 purchasers or part of the game's story mode is yet to be revealed, but we're as anxious as you are to find out closer to the game's release.

What do you mean "last time"? Battlefield Bad Company had a free map pack and game type patched directly into the game AFTER it came out. Not to mention trophies were added on the PS3 version. Dice is awesome about free stuff.

What amuses me are the people that actually pay for the COD4 and W@W map packs when they are free for PC users. Now THAT is getting ripped off.

I'll be getting BC2 day 1, unless I get MAG, but I'm pretty sure I'll get BC2.

Yeah, originally, you needed to pay for them. DICE changed that after the community uprising of ought-eight.

yeah i have to agree... the only reason why it was free was because the community went ape shit after they found out EA was planning on charging them for more guns.

You have to give them some credit for coming to their senses. I was able to get all 5 weapons, it wasn't too hard.

Maybe there is some sort of flashback element to WWII in Bad Company 2. But that's just me thinking crazy.

Maybe you go back to WW2 as Haggard's grandfather. That would be one ornery old man.

I hope they have airplanes and parachutes in Bad Company Duece.

I don't know about airplanes, modern jets are a lot faster than WWII planes, and they would have to make the maps HUGE to be able to have them flying around.

I meant jets when I said airplanes. Flying Ships should be included in this game and parachutes.

very true, a 2000+ model plane would zip thru the air in Mach speeds.

Well, something to think about... look at HAWX... That game has you dogfighting in jets, and it does it pretty well too... You're even machine gunning jets down.

So, it is possible.

Is a helicopter a "flying ship"? So go play BC(1)!

Does BC1 have parachutes?

Blackhawks are in the game which is really good enough for me. Modern jets would be out of place in balance. The maps would have to be huge along with the player count to support those things.

Anyway on the guns, I think your going to be putting yourself at a mighty disadvantge using these guns in B:BC2 since there going with the whole ACOG/RDS thing on there assault rifles (finally) and also the fact that ya know, modern assault rifles are fully automatic and most snipers in the game use semi-automatics.

I do enjoy the semi auto rifle.
I have a feeling there's going to be a lot of weapon unlocks this time around. Trying to get a dot pointed one up on MW2

But then again, they might pull a Bad Company 1 and try to charge for weapons again. (Don't know if they learn or not, only time will tell)

they didnt charge for weapons in BC 1. You could buy the collector's edition and get i think, maybe 6 weapons at start, or you could just play the game and buy them with unlock points. But yeah i bet these weapons will be available either as a preorder bonus, gamestop exclusive, or reward for having 1943 on your hard drive

I've got the game...They tried. Then backed down. I was wondering if they'd try again.

I just hope they fix the problems BC 1 and 1943 had. I cant count how many times ive very clearly gotten a headshot, once scoped with a sniper at a few feet distance, only to have the hit not register at all, or even worse, turn the corner and unload on a guy nearly point blank with an LMG and have him stab me from a distance.

In BF1943 there is a glitch where you can see the black hit detection boxes. They definitely do not cover the whole head or torso.

i dont care for how much it takes to kill people in the first place either. In BC it wasnt as bad because health was point based, so if you clipped a guy with a sniper it would be easier to take him down next time, in 1943 he's full health after hiding a second

no, the sniper rifles in BF1943 are crap. the smgs and rifles are fine though.

that's not true at all ESC, i used the M95 rifle, the most base powerful of all rifles and you still need headshots to one hit kill

I love BF1943. Been having a lot of fun as all of the classes, but I really like the rifle.

The "Springfield" semi-auto rifle is pretty nice, but the Japanese sniper's samurai sword is pretty dope too. If you can just get someone to hold still long enough before they warp behind you and wrench you to death...

Gotta correct you Popfrogs. The Springfield Model 1903, which I'm sure you are referring to, was a bolt action rifle(Not counting the Pedersen device that didnt make it much further then prototype) that saw little use in WW2, besides as a sniper rifle(which If I remember from the demo, thats the scout's rifle).

The semi-auto is the M1 Garand, which was the primary infantry rifle of WW2.

I'm a total gun nut, especially when it comes to WW2 weapons, so I just needed to correct you there.

I gotta agree with Capgun. It pissed me off how you can actually reload the M1 garand. It was famous for being gas operated and impossible to reload. Hell, even when you emptied your clip and put in a new one you had to be careful the shutter didn't chop your thumb off! Brothers In Arms let you reload the M1 too. Pretty Annoying

There were later variations that semi-corrected this. That and the famous PING that let the tojo and nazis know you were out.

That, or his 360 might have red-ringed or E74'd on him.

The thing that keeps me addicted with 1943 that BC 1 lacks is Really good use of Terrain and Cover with the sandbags, bunkers, trenches, etc. I hope BC's multiplayer will have good cover options.

Let's hope the mic issues don't return in Bad Company 2.

On a completely unrelated note (or maybe not), I love how BF:1943 has the phrase "Haggard was here " on the various archipelagos off the main atolls and islands.

Another thing I don't get is why don't we have team chat? I don't like this squad thing. The majority of the time my squad has nothing to do with me and I end up working with someone else (who I can't speak to or hear) on my team.

If it was team chat, we could coordinate eachother a little better and make eachother aware of certain things (take down that plane) and at least I wouldn't have to sit in silence to see if my teammate wants to hop in a tank with me.

I totally agree. Team-wide chat is a must. Most people run off on their own anyways, even if these are people I know. The whole squad thing feels restrictive.

Bring back BF2 game play. 1943 is almost there. The squad thing is meh. The beauty of team chat was the ability for players to sort themselves out and created a team atmosphere, not 3 separatef squad bubbles where a lot of the time you're the only one wearing a mic.

Oh, and about the mic situation, what's with the garbled audio and total mic drop-outs??? I'm on a PS3, are you guys on the 360 side getting the same issues?

those weapons blew, the sub machine gun is weak along with the sow firing sniper rifle and the slow reload of the m4 really turned me off, its all about the vehicles in this game
