Does anyone like the pad? I was thinking of getting one for MVC2.

Does anyone like anything MadCatz? I'm being sincere here, since any time I've had anything to do with them, they broke in half faster then a Gizmondo executive in an Enzo.

I know, I hate 3rd party controllers, but Microsoft refuses to fix their d-pad, I need options.

Can't say I've bought a lot of their gear, but the dance pad I have for DDR is superior to the pack-in one. If you get a 3rd party regular controller, for the most part you know you're buying something that just isn't as good. Although the older Logitech wireless PS2 controllers were pretty great.

I have both the SF4 joystick and fightpad by madcatz.
The stick is good but having never used a square-gate setup I find it kinda weird;
but still better the the 360's own d-pad.

As for answering what you asked, the fightpad is excellent.
It uses a floating d-pad (like the 360's) which alarmed me at first, but its SO so SO much more responsive and accurate. The buttons are nice & big (which some people find a minus, but I find it a plus) well spaced, and well sprung.

It's money well-spent IMHO (if your serious about fighting games) and I'm thinking of getting another one for storage just incase the worst happens to my current one. They are hard to get hold of in the where I live and online prices have shot up recently. You can forget about seeing them in stores as well.

My only gripe is that it's not a thick as you (I) would have expected. And the shoulder buttons are hinged on the outside so you have to press the buttons right in the middle of the pad instead of the outer edge, which would be easier.

Otherwise, go buy it. now!

Personally, Im planning to use the arcade stick for MVC2 and pad for SF4.

If anyone wants to battle hit me up.

Man if that ain't the truth. I think I've bought 1 MadCatz product, and that was the first and last time.

Capcom would've been better off going with Hori branded products, but then again MadCatz probably asked for a smaller revenue % off these than Hori would have done.

The Madcatz hate schtick is out of date, their SF4 controllers are very good.

I like the pad a lot, the only complaints I have are minor ones, as follows:

1. Whomever designed the button layout should be shot. There are 6 face buttons and 2 shoulder buttons, seems like it should be easy to lay it out, right? Wrong, whatever moron designed this decided to put LB and LT on the triggers and RB and RT on the face. So pressing the right trigger button actually presses...the left bumper button? WTF?

2. There is a switch on the back to let you switch to whether your pad controls the d-pad, left analog stick, or right analog stick. It's too easy to move, I'll sometimes bump it during a match and all the sudden I can't move my character on screen until I flip it back. And of course the d-pad selection (the one you'll pretty much always want to use) is in the middle of a 3-way switch so it's the easiest to get knocked out of and the hardest to get back into.

In general though, it's pretty spiffy, especially as a solid but much cheaper alternative to the tournament stick.

Uhh, I've heard a lot of complaints about the standard MadCatz SF sticks.

The Tournament Edition ones are supposedly a lot better since they use Sanwa parts, but the standard ones are the generic 100% MadCatz parts. Buy a generic one, swap out the parts with Sanwa stuff and you pay almost the same as the TE stick.

That's why I built my own stick; I wasn't going to bother with a product that may or may not hold up. =) If I hadn't have done that, I would have bought a HRAP.

Umm, I don't really see any major difference between the Fight Sticks that they're offering at Comic-Con vs the one that's already been released and widely available on Play-Asia. More like, those Fight Sticks are 50 dollars cheaper on Play-Asia than what's being listed for Comic-Con.

It's limited edition artwork, that's the only difference.

For an extra $50 you get something that you can probably re-sell for an extra $300 if you want to. People go crazy over limited edition artwork, especially this limited (500).

@Vcize:
I know. I'd probably appreciate the Limited Edition artwork more IF it had much more artwork on it than what's already available. I mean, I look at the one available on Play-Asia and I see a range of characters that essentially covers over half of the Fight Stick's non-button space, and then I look at the Limited Edition Fight Stick with its "scar", and it just feels like people are getting ripped off.

More importantly, when the hell are the BlazBlue fight sticks going to be released? The ones I saw at Anime Expo were gorgeous, even though they were supposedly "prototype" fight sticks.

I got to play on these at evo 2k9. Very good stick but it is not worth the extra dough.

... someone could just scan the art to the stick and stick it on the original LE...

I doubt its gonna be shooting to the prices it was when it first came out on ebay this isn't a limited item anymore just the colour of the casing is.

Can't you just flip over their heads and shoot them until they give it to you or something?

I mean seriously, since when the fuck does deadpool resolve his problems by posting them on the internet?

Oh yeah, Vcize, forgot about that. The RT RB buttons on the face is the most retarded bit of logic ive come across in a while. just be thankfull SF lets you fully customise your buttons.

otherwise, the pad is worth it.

(ive never had any issues knocking the "ls dp rs" switch out of place though)

Who would pay more money for something that looks worse than the others? The current fight pads and arcade sticks have a much nicer graphic on it. These things just show the logo.... how corny is that...
