Bleh. I don't know why people enjoy this genre so much. There's nothing adventurous to me about point and clicking on objects in a room like its some magic school bus for cd-rom game from 1993.

Kids like you are the reason we haven't had any good adventure games in so long. You lack the attentionspan to sit there for more then 5 minutes to figure out one puzzle. Have you ever played Secret of Monkey Island or Day Of The Tentacle? My guess is that if you've ever touched them at all, you gave up in 5 minutes cause you didn't know what the fuck to do.

I know for me personally, Adventure games were fun somewhat. I was probably too young to enjoy them fully, but I had my share of the police quests and kings quests. (My favorite one being the Police Quest where it was mixed with live actors IV i think).

But the tech of the time doesn't seem to hold up. I played the first couple of new Sam & Max games. And although it brought back that fun for a while, I hated it because all you can do is run back and forth trying to click every little thing that you might have missed. The controls are just too counter intuitive to hold up to the control schemes today.

P.S. There are just my opionions and in no way factual or intelligent

Ok, well I can respect that. I loved the new Sam & Max episodes. It just felt "right", atleast to me.

The Secret of Monkey Island took me a little bit to get used to, as far as the new control scheme went. But after 5 minutes of pressing the wrong buttons when I wanted to open my inventory, I got passed that.

I hope Sierra follows LucasArts example and releases some remakes of their great games. Police Quest was one of my favourites as well.

I would cry tears of happyness if they made a modern day Police Quest. I think that is the game that I fell in love with the idea of the little details. Like having to drive to work go to the locker room and change, get your keys and go to the meeting room. Then you get to drive around town and pull people over. Get to go to crime scenes and do all the proper things.

Damn it the nostalgia hit.

See what I did there? It's all about STORIES, and most shooters are really bad at them. Still - people buy them. Why?

noone of this is quenching my thirst for some ShadowGate action.

wth happened with that IP? i even enjoyed the four towers on n64 as the FIRST fpa adventure on a n system. (sorry samus, you weren't first...sloppy seconds FTW!)

and to further hijack.....shadowgate would work really really well on wii. come on, you know it's TRUE!!!!

well, i'm outta gas to really take this anywhere else.

No. Shadowgate 64 was not the first first-person adventure game on a Nintendo console. The infinitely superior Shadowgate came out for the NES in 1989.

The NES also saw the release of the similarly awesome Déjà Vu.

To my knowledge, there weren't any FPA games on the SNES.

true, true - but being on the original you didn't move your character around and instead used your command options to navigate puts it out of FPA in the manner I am referring to it as, FPS...now I'm getting lost, but you know what I mean, eh?

I'd love to play either one again, would really love a new one or a remake.

I for one am doing my part, buying up the quality adventure games that have come out. All the Telltale games, the new SE of Monkey Island. Time, Gentleman Please. This is great - I hope Brutal Legend does well enough for Schafer to do a new old-school style adventure game.

I like the idea and all, but the graphics... just look terrible. I don't like the style, and the way it's shaded is horrible.

Of course, it doesn't really matter since, judging by the trailer, it looks more like a Freddi Fish than a Monkey Island. Nothing wrong with that in and of itself, but it's far out of my range of interest, and I'm far out of its demographic.
