There's a long writeup of the game over at the PlayStation Blog. One of the cooler things implemented in the title is the use of a guitar controller to control the ship. The fret buttons will allow the player to move, while the strum bar is used as the "shoot" button. You can get an idea of what it'll look like in the video after the break.
Retro/Grade reverses time and shmup expectations on PSN

Retro/Grade, an Independent Games Festival nominee for best game design, is making its way off of PSN ... we mean, onto PSN. See, the thing that makes this shmup different is that all the action happens backwards -- like a classic space shooter meets Memento. Comparison can also be made between this game and WiiWare's Bit.Trip.

If you read the blog post one of the responses (In red) have a link to a demo to the PC version. It's very worth checking out.

The term 'shmup' has been around since the 80's when the C64 magazine Zzap! came up with the term.

I just bought the $20 Raiden three pack for xbox 360 from amazon. It is awesome! And then I had to break out the old PS1 version of Raiden and play it on my Ps3, It is also still awesome!

It's not really a shooter apart from the graphics... It's essentially Guitar Hero with a new twist (Rewind the time).
It's not bad (I've tried the demo) but I'm not very impressed for now. I also had trouble recognizing the music, for sure they were played in reverse, but when I can't hear the Rick Astley song even a little on the rick roll level... :/
For one I wish they would add reactiveness to the music, kind of like in Audiosurf where the game accelerates when the music gets faster.

Ill pass, backwards, please. Sounds different and exciting but after watching this video, ill pass. Still waiting for a top notch shooter, there has to be someone out there that is tapping the cell power of the ps3 to give us a next gen retro style shooter.

Technically it's just Guitar Hero, packaged as a shooter.
Then again, a lot of games are basic repackages of a basic formula.
This still looks mighty sweet though.
