Don't freak out, guys. We know how worried you were when we told you that interest in Modern Warfare 2 was waning without the warm embrace of that familiar Call of Duty brand name. According to Nielsen's Video Game Tracking service, interest in the shooter has substantially improved following the association of Infinity Ward's work with Activision's recognizable franchise.
Three different consumer interest fields Nielsen tracked -- "Aided Awareness," "Definite Interest in Purchasing," and "Total Positive Interest in Purchasing" -- increased drastically from the week of July 6 (before the title was modified) to the week of July 13 (post-name change). It's just like Bill Shakespeare said: "A rose by any other name may smell as sweet, but a rose that's clearly endorsed by Activision will sell way better." We're pretty sure that's how that goes.

The correct title is Call of Duty 6: Modern Warfare 2.

Still going to call this one Call of Duty (just like 2,3,4, and WaW). Though, for awhile after release I might call it "New Call of Duty".

Why? Nobody called Modern Warfare "Modern Warfare," it was referred to as CoD4.

people are stupid you need to keep the cod label to keep them from being confused.
its just funny cause i remember when all these news outlets were speculating that they were going to just use the "modern warfare 2" labeling i knew it wasnt going to last and that in the end it cod mw2 would be the full name.

"I'm still calling it Modern Warfare 2", waaaaaaa, "I'm still calling it not part of Activision" whimpers in his lonely corner. Activision still calls both of your dollars theirs.

I'm still laughing at the Activision hate. Just a few months ago, EA was the evil SOB company, and Activision was this glorious beacon of light in a sea of muck. How quickly people forget.

Gonna have to agree with you there. EA is in a sense what Activision is now, in that they both are super big and have ruined their fair share of franchises.
But I think I can safely say most EA games are enjoyable, maybe a bit disappointing. Activision just sucks.
Plus, EA is paying the price for their long rape of ignorant consumers. The bad economy is crushing their profits (not that they are struggling by any means). Naturally we would somewhat sympathize with EA if they aren't raking in the dough. However, activision is raking in boat loads, so yes naturally there would be a bit of animosity with them.

Really? For a while there, EA was putting out more than a few original IPs. For every Madden 0X, we were getting a "Dead Space", "Skate", or "Mirror's Edge".
\Now, we will see these franchises run into the ground eventually, but at least, for a little bit, they were new and original; Some of their smaller dev studios were allowed to take a chance, and in some cases, the result was an engaging experience I would gladly pay money for...
Hopefully this trend will continue, because it's actually improved my perception of EA considerably.

On certain days I try to have faith in our people, really I do. But then I see a story like this, or I play 1 vs 100 and 5000/10000 don't know who the main star of "50 Cent Blood Bulletproof" is and I just hang my head and sigh.

It hurts even more when 2 of the choices were 50-something and the third was something like dolla dolla bill :\

and that's supposed to just have Bulletproof. Guess I was thinking of both games while trying to type 1 in....and that's my cue to get some sleep!

I would think it would mean good things for society as a whole if half the people had no idea who 50 Cent was.
Granted, it has his freaking name in the title, but if you didn't know someone actually went by that moniker people could easily think it was a trick.
Sort of like if they asked "who was the main star of Halo 3", and one of the choices was "Bob Halo".

God, what's with the game-to-movie adaptations these days? Now I'm fully certain that Hollywood's a pile of trash with no originality.
