Fallout 3's Mothership Zeta is ready to teach the Capital Wasteland a lesson with a new perk and weapons. We'd previously received a communique about new weaponry, but Bethesda's Fallout 3 content guy, Jeff Gardiner, tells MTV that there's even more stuff to wrap an itchy trigger finger around.
Beyond the Alien Atomizer and Drone Cannon, there will be a new rifle, the Alien Disintegrator, and the Cryo Grenade, which will freeze the enemy in its tracks. There's also the new perk, Xenotech Expert, which increases the damage of alien weapons. Hopefully, Zeta will also have plans to teach the wanderer how to make more ammo for these weapons once he's back on terra firma and searching the wastes.
[Thanks, Andrew]

Is that what the Alien Power cells are for? I've found quite a few throught the wasteland and they're classified as ammo, but they don't go with any weapon I've ever found.
Anyway I can't wait for this, but I'm sad to hear it's the last one.

Technically, those go to the Alien Blaster you get at Recon Craft Theta, I think.

Interesting. I found that ship my very first playthrough back in november, but I haven't been able to find it since and I didn't know there was a weapon there. I'll definitely try to find it today now :)

Tmac: Go to the big power plant NE of minefield, go directly north from there. There's more ammo in the outcast hq basement too.

The crash site isn't a random encounter, you're thinking of the firelance, a unique alien blaster that only happens once per player character

I love Fallout 3. But when you get into the level 20s, the game kind of becomes a mindless romp. Sure there's still tons of stuff to explore, but even if you ratchet up the difficulty setting the game is a cake-walk. I don't want to start over with a new character, I just want to be able to hit all the DLC with one character and wish the game would allow things still to be a challenge late in the affair. I have all the other DLC, but don't know if I'll pick up this one.

I was a Lvl 30 playing point Lookout, I had great weapons and armor and it seemed like every enemy I ran into was a tank. Point lookout is one of the best DLC's and one of the more challenging pieces of content. You should at least try that.

Definitely saw an uptick in enemy difficulty, and definitely agree it has been the best DLC thus far. Anchorage has been my least favorite. As someone else pointed out in the GoW2 article, a lot of it was to some extent 'on rails'. By that measure though, basically all of GoW2 is on rails. I enjoyed The Pitt quite a bit.

@Matt -- Point Lookout's enemies were given damage and resistence multipliers, which is why they seem so much freaking harder. You also couldn't bring an ally along, so it made it much more difficult. I liked that... because it gave me reason to use my 200+ stimpacks, and the heavier firepower. Point Lookout was a really good addon, but I'm not that excited for Broken Steel really... I dunno, seems to detached from the story at this point.

Prepare for an onslaught of votedowns buddy. : D
Its not really a fantastic game, especially after playing Fallout 1/2 years back, but I suppose for most today that haven't played those, this is a good RPG, I'll still wasted a lot of hours into it just playing the main game, haven't played any of the DLC. IMO, Bethesda is better off making Elder Scroll games than a Fallout game and I wonder why Bethesda after getting the Fallout license is letting Obsidian make Fallout: New Vegas....

If Bethesda includes an anal probe as a weapon, it will totally make up for a lack of Sarah Palin in Operation: Anchorage.

i stopped playing the game a while back but seeing these screen shots really makes me want to pick up the controller and start playing again. this beats the other expansions by a long shot. i wonder if you will have the option to go back up into the ship. or to blow up the earth

They should've named the perk 'Moonwalker'.
Comes with 'Child At Heart' by default
Gives you a bonus to charisma equivalent to 5 points
Causes your skin to glow in the dark
Weakness to fire
Immunity to Radiation
Instant death on Chem consumption

I'm very confused - do I mark you down, or up?
Either way, too soon and too hilarious.

The best part is it isn't too soon. That was the first time I laughed all day. I loved that weakness to fire reference. I remember when that happened. Loved the musician, but the man himself is a whole other issue.

I really hope that the first alien you meet doesn't end up looking like your dad.

The alien blaster was also in Fallout 1/2, cool of Bethesda to include it again in their own game and further expand upon the aliens which we never got to see in the first two games. How about exploring California again, see how locations in Fallout 1/2 have changed?
Posted: Jul 21st 2009 1:19PM Special Agent Steve said
That would be cool. Fallout 3 setting in California, were you thinking of a whole new game, or just DLC?

I think it would be way too big for DLC. It'd have to be another game.
I'm not happy with how Fallout 3 and Broken Steel ended, I like to have a firm, solid ending, I want to know what happens to the Enclave at the end, the Super Mutants, who the hell are the Talon Company mercs, etc.

Let's say you are already level 30. Don't you get new perks when you level up? So how would you get the new perk?

some perks are given as an reward kind of like the wasteland survivor training

@NBA Kirkland -- Try google ya d-bag. It took me one minute to find the answer: "The perk will be mission-specific, though, since this DLC (along with all forthcoming DLC packs) doesn't increase the level cap."
