The game is a celebration of the horrifying (and graciously shortlived) age of the FMV game.

All should at least play it, only to learn gratitude for the fact that the industry never really ran with them

I don't know about everybody else, but I'd honestly rather just take your word for it.

Did you ever play "Star Trek: Borg" for PC? It was so hard, mainly because the controls were so unresponsive. It was also nearly impossible to know when you could actually interact with the environment! Good story I guess.

Yes, it's "Ahoy there" when you are a pirate.

This is a video game about cowboys.

But thank YOU for playing.

Jesus Christ.

Why don't you go hang out at a summer school and correct the grammar in student papers or something? That might be a better use of your brilliance. Congratulations on being an example of why some people hate message boards, and on turning my silly response to a funny article into a big waste of your time and mine.

You're (not) saying there's a decent FMV game that also appeared on the CD-i?

Nooooo.

Ugh, the CD-i. My hate for what they did to Zelda runs deeper than the bowels of Hell.

And here I was hoping I could mention it w/o those games following suit.

Now I'm sad...

I suppose you're right.

Still, thinking of those Zeldas makes me sad.

Oh, and now that I get the chance to say it, your blog is awesome.

I had a CD-i... and both Zelda 'games'. They were terrible. But the tennis game was kind of fun!

Justin: Interesting read, but I really would've appreciated a review. I, too, hold a special place in my heart for the Mad Dog series, but I don't want to ruin that by buying a crappy port. How well does this translate from the arcade? Do the quickdraw events work as well? How does saving work? Or is it just emulated, making you add virtual quarters to continue?

I agree that the majority of your audience doesn't care about this game, but I'd definitely like to know if my $20 is better spent at the arcade near me that actually still has this game.

It translates well, they're awful and broken, no saving.

Mad Dog McCree and Time Traveler turned me off of gaming through a good portion of the early 90's.

I'm not being sarcastic when I say that. either.

The FMV games from the early 90's were beyond awful. Most of them didn't even have a camp factor - they were just terrible, just for the sake of being terrible. A few managed to sneak by, but how MDM became to be considered a classic is beyond me.

Thanks so much for writing about this game! I too have a ton of nostalgia, and ordered this pack as soon as I could. It's really a great collection of some great/horrible western lightgun shooters. Long live FMV!!!...aw who am I kidding. :(
