Nintendo really went all out with the new Wii Sports. It definitely seems worth the $50 price tag.

Now, if we can get some Wave Race and Mario Golf action, I might actually get a Wii.

If Wave Race came out for Wii, and it was actually good, I just might be willing to spend more than $20 for a Wii game.

I am pretty happy that this game has been getting glowing reviews. So I'll probably be getting this eventually. The only thing that is slightly bumming me out is that it has no online mode.

"Wii Sports Resort deserves to be in every Wii owner's library, whether you're a hardcore gamer or someone who only occasionally picks up the Wiimote and Nunchuk."

Aren't those one in the same?

"The old expression “they are one and the same” is now often mangled into the roughly phonetic equivalent “one in the same.” The use of “one” here to mean “identical with each other” is familiar from phrases like “Jane and John act as one.” They are one; they are the same."

You asshole.

No it isn't you dipshit, just say sorry I meant one and the same and move on with your life perhaps off a Nintendo blog and out of your bedroom. Go talk to a girl or something, but for the love of god don't try and impress her with your wits.

The funny thing is, due to my seemingly obsessive necessesity to grab everything with "Wii-" in the title, I would've bought this game regardless of reviews (yes, I bought Wii Music, and I LIKED IT). So the fact that it's being reviewed well just makes me all the more happier. :)

Wii Music lasted me ten minutes. It lasted my little brother many hours.

Metroid Prime 3 lasted me many hours. It lasted my little brother the amount of time it took to eject the disc and put Boom Blox back in.

And that is why you buy multiple games for a console. Because you won't like some games, but other people in your family will. The Wii is a family console, but that doesn't make it a crappy one.

Sorry for sounding preachy, it's just that this issue has bugged me - and others here, obviously - for a while.

i feel like if i buy this i will pull my wii out of the closet.....and then put it back after my friends make fun of me for throwing frisbees to dogs. The swordplay looks awesome and i really want to play with my friends but i kind of feel embarassed to spend money and dust my wii off just for this game. I understand that it's much easier to make a kiddy looking game and have it appeal to adults to win over both crowds but frisbee's and dogs? is there a lot more mini-games that i would enjoy to merritt this purchase? I'm asking real questions so please somebody know and reply. Thanks in advance

Apologies for not being able to answer your question, as I have not played the game. However, I have a piece of advice. If your friends are making fun of you or berating you for doing stuff you like to do that isn't harming anyone, you need new friends. But that's just one mans opinion.

Oh, on a more serious reply:

The frisbee & dog is actually there MOSTLY because of showing off WiiMotion+ accuracy.
And out of technicality, the style of "Wii ____" games aren't 'kiddy', they're 'family friendly' with a hint of artmetro-new. Kiddy games would make it have aliens and romobots that go 'powpow' and 'fwoosh'. And have extremely lame jokes. ...well, at least, that's one end of the 'kiddy' spectrum.
BACK TO the original part of this: The accuracy of movement of frisbee and actual hand makes the frisbee games quite fascinating. Like people said, there's also frisbee golf if you want to ignore the dog. But trust me, the dog game can get quite challenging. It's a lot faster and arguably more competitive than the golf version.

As for more minigames?
Basketball - 3point shots & -halfcourt play.
Golf -it's golf, just more accurate.
Bowling -just more accurate.
PingPong/Table Tennis -competitive -return challenge.
Archery -just archery (psst, there are hidden items in this game that you can hit).
Cycling -just cycling.
Swordplay -sword vs -slicechallenge -survival.
Watertype games -jetski race -wakeboarding -canoe race -canoe challenge.
Airtype games -skydive challenge -plane challenge -plane vs.

So yeah, it's a good amount of choices (if I left anything out, feel free to correct me).

No way I'm buying this. Not because I think it's bad, but because I don't want my whole family using the Wii when I want to play Tatsunoko vs Capcom. I actually think I prefered when they thought video-games were tools of the devil prone to corrupt young minds into mindless violance. At least I didn't had to share it...

Seems like this will another nasty tech demo tease to me. I played Wii Sports and thought "holy shit, this totally revolutionizes console gaming! I can't wait to see the games that utilize this!" And then.... No games EVER did. There still isn't a boxing game that even holds a candle to the controls of Wii Sports over 2 years later! WHY?!!! I feel like this game will do the same. I'll play the sword fighting game and think, " OMG!! I can't wait to see a developer use this in a real, full on game." Oh wait, the hands on reviews on Red Steel 2 already say it's a fail and still a false promise of intuitive sword fighting. AGH! The most promosing game on the Wii right now is a hand illustrated 2D side scrolling button masher.... Huh?

joystiq seems to stand alone in their opinion about Red Steel 2. Other places rave about it. Not calling bias or anything, just saying that the broad consensus goes against joystiq's

Also, game that can hold a candle to WiiSports Boxing: Punch-Out!!. I was pretty dodgy about it (I never played the original or the SNES one (automatic downvoting for being relatively young!)), but I tried it today and bought it instantly.

That's great to hear WiiSports Resort being as fun as it is. I wouldn't mind if it wound up being one of the best-selling games this generation.

The only criticism to this review that I could think of is it's not making the wait for the game go by any faster. I reserved my copy about a week-and-a-half ago. Only 4 more agonizingly slow days to go!

but no i have not played the game.... hence my question. why is it so hard to ask a question on this site? and have some d-bag try and attack a question. this kids a joke and by the way my friend and i are 20 and mature and if we want to throw frisbees to dogs we can do it in real life.. but not sword-fighting.... again.... hence my question. i wish i could meet you in real life and make ur face look like a pair of meat-curtains.

Yes, between the threats of bodily harm and the complete failure to use proper punctuation and spelling, I can tell that you're very mature indeed.

you're acting like you wouldn't be embarassed to try and explain to your friends why you spent 50 dollars for this game when all they're gonna do is point out the flaws... like the throwing a frisbee to a dog. i'm not bashing the game just inquiring as to the other things available with more attractive gameplay.
