Put your rivalry to the side for a moment and join hands. Acknowledge that together, we, as XBLA and PSN users, have reached a tremendous milestone: 600,000. That number represents the to-date total of $15 transactions between us and our respective online services to purchase Battlefield 1943; and we did so, overwhelmingly -- and in record-setting fashion -- on the first day and week of the game's download-only release.
In just fifteen short days, we have sent a message to Microsoft, Sony and third-party publishers. We're willing to pay a bit more and spend it on a slice of good old-fashioned stuff we still get on our retail discs (even if it's a little rough during takeoff). Sorry, indies -- go put it on the App Store.

Time to have publishers take a good hard look to determine if their normally shitty games warrant the 60 they're looking for

I haven't played it yet, but this game seems like Warhawk set in WWII. Would that be about accurate?

If you've never seen Battlefield before, that would be a good description. But Battlefield came first so most people see Warhawk as like Battlefield instead of vice-versa.

Yeah, one of my partners said it's less frantic than Warhawk, but I kinda like the frantic play.
Is this game online only also, or is there an offline/single-player component?

Yeah it's online only, the only SP part of it is the tutorial, but you're all on your own so I gets boring fast.

The next word is "said." Pronounced "sed." Past tense of "say." That means he was speaking, using words to let me know what he was thinking.
Just let me know if you have a problem with any of those other words. I've got a 5 year old daughter, so I'm experienced in breaking things down for simpler minds.

Mr. T wants to throw this out there.... Warhawk CAME BEFORE the Battlefield franchise.
"Codename Eagle," released in Nov.1999, was the spiritual predecessor to BF1942, which came out in Sept. 2002.
Warhawk on the other hand.... a game under the same name was released on the Commodore 64, Atari 8-bit family, Amstrad CPC and Atari ST, in 1986.
It had flying ships in space, which also used a vertical scrolling screen.
WH will then see a release on the original Playstation in Nov. 1995. Then another re-vamp that came out in its 2007 PS3 Debut.

I tried the demo, but i didn't feel the adrenaline pumping as i usually feel when i play Warhawk.
The demo was a 30 minute time trial, which was 10 minutes too long for me. $15 is a pretty good price though.

It's kind of neat, since BF1943 is a good game. But I'm afraid this'll lead every other developer that thinks they have a good game to be like "ALLRIGHT 15 IS THE NEW 5".
They probably already thought that anyways.. oh well.

A little rough? And the problem isn't just number of servers.
Listen to Rebel.FM. Since the matchmaking of groups is all screwed up, they decided to start a private game. But to start a private game requires you have 8 people a side. Why a group of people can't get together and play if they are smaller than 16 people is beyond me. Anyway, they finally all get 16 friends in the room (takes about 25 minutes to do so), and they start the game and it only takes half of them into the game anyway, and those that aren't taken in cannot join in after the fact either.
And all of this is taking place on Xbox Live, where the whole point of paying is so you can play against your friends.
This is completely screwed up, it's more than a little rough, and it's inexcusable.

It sounds like you haven't even played the game.
You can't blame XBL for all the faults of Battlefield. XBL is only the platform that BF1943 runs on, it doesn't have anything to do with starting a game with less than 16 people; that's a mistake on Dice's end.
Outside of a handful of issues at release, every game I've played has been great. Sure, sometimes my squad is split up, but a new squad or game invite quickly remedy's the issue.

If I am paying to play with my friends and I cannot play with my friends, you bet I'm going to blame XBL first. There's an implicit guarantee that if you pay to play with your friends that you have a good chance of doing so.
Yes, I know the 16 people thing is Dice's fault. It's also very stupid, and it's again more than a minor issue (as joystiq portrays the online as only slightly broken).
XBL is not the only platform Battlefield 1943 runs on, it also runs on PC and on PS3. And the networking doesn't seem to be as bad on those platforms (although of course the 16 player thing is the same).

Playing with friends works on PS3 and on PC!
Again, if I am paying MS to play against my friends and I cannot play against my friends, I will be contacting MS to see what they are doing about it and why I am paying them money for something that doesn't work right and apparently they aren't responsible for even when it does work by your arguments!
If MS wants to be hands off about me being able to play against my friends on 360 games, they can be hands off the money too.

It's basically a stripped down version of Battlefield 1942. You only get the pacific maps and less options.

great game, I really wish there was a kill cam or something, because there's sometimes I don't know what killed me and there's been some bs moments where I'm running for cover and end up getting killed while in cover.

I have to admit, not always knowing what kills you in Battlefield has always frustrated me. But then again, I started with Call of Duty, so I got used to having the kill cam. There are some player, myself included, who can simply camp out and hide in a good spot (high ground... behind buildings) and take out a number of players before you're discovered. It's awfully fun when you're the sniper, but it sucks when you're the target.

Well the thing about sniping is that you should always relocate and not stay in the same spot the whole time, I've always tried to move after picking off a couple ppl, unless I'm in that tower on Iwo Jima, thats a great spot to pick ppl off, or to get picked off at.

All that just for another game that lets you do deathmatch. I swear I just don't get it. How many different games do you need to play deathmatch and capture the flag in?

There's no deathmatch and no capture the flag. The only option is territories.

Ok fine you're still killing people just to hold territories, which is another common FPS mode and BF mode. Why are people excited to do that again?

Michael to be fair you are dead wrong.

It just so happens when you capture a territory in this game a little flag moves up and down, but the game Capture the Flag involves you getting your enemy's flag and bringing it back to your base, while they try to get your flag.

Actually Battlefield is more like Domination from CoD. You capture a base, which then determines your spawn, you get points for capping the base, and also you try and capture the other bases enemies might have taken from you. Also its different from other major WWII shooters like CoD W@W because it has pretty colors! Haha. Also the class system is a lot less complex and its more just run and gun where as W@W takes a little more strategy. Its kinda like a simplified W@W but still an awesome game. Next time you are inclined to troll just stop take a deep breath and slowly count backwards from 10.....

This game is awesome. I bought it for the 360, but after a few days it red ringed. It only took one day without BF1943 for me to pay another $15 for the PS3 version of the game. I can't play with my friend now, but it will tide me over for now.

If you like it now, you'll have an even better time playing with friends. Since most people tend to "Rambo" a well coordinated squad rules the field; something you can't always get with strangers.
