Of what they played, only mutliplayer was available and it featured a handful of game types -- coin collection, territories and kill the carrier, in so many words. Players choose a single weapon before each game (from fireballs to portable fans) and employ it liberally to their enemies, all the while avoiding environmental pitfalls (water, radioactive ooze, etc.) and trying to win the game mode. Do yourself a favor and check out the videos embedded after the break for a better idea of what The Behemoth's third game will look like when it's released sometime in 2010.
Comic-Con 2009: New details on The Behemoth's third game
32
We'll give it to you straight: we're still not entirely sure what The Behemoth's next game is. It's sort of a platformer, it's sort of a multiplayer brawler, but what is it really? We're one step closer to understanding today, as GameSpot got a chance to preview the game this week at the San Diego Comic-Con, and says the game "falls beneath the umbrella of the platformer genre."

It wasn't an issue for me when it released, as before I'd moved in with my gal I had a roommate I would play it with all the time. Now awhile later I'm playing it again and have found a friend of mine finally just bought it himself, so not EVERYBODY is over it :P I really don't want to do co-op with random people anyway, just me.
I'm going downtown to meet someone for lunch today, I hope the traffic doesn't suck too much balls.

Randoms, or 'Randys' as my crew has come to affectionately call them, are usually no fun to play with. Especially in a game like that. It's one thing in a shooter or something fast paced and team based.. but Castle Crashers is different. I don't want to trudge around and whack cartoon dudes with some dick head I don't know. I have my dick head friends for that.
Except Castle Crashers was so God damned unplayable for the first half a year it was out, that I'm not sure I'd buy another game by these guys - unless it was receiving the most glowing reviews and accolades upon accolades with regards to its uber-stable online play.

You know, I can deal with disconnects and stuff like that, but when the game reset all my saved data for like the 7th time I just couldn't take it anymore.
Definitely waiting to hear if this one actually works online before plunking down any money....errr....ms points.

I agree. That was amazingly boring footage to show. Castle Crashers was fun but this one is staying in the wait and see box for sure.

Behemoth actually had a booth set up at the 2009 Tokyo Anime Fair back in March, and my friends and I got to play some of the multiplayer. I had no idea I had gotten my hands on it before most people in the States or I would have said something sooner! It seemed pretty polished even back then, and my friends and I had a blast. Of course, we were also just glad to see some Americans at that thing other than ourselves...

It's like bomberman meets mario meets smashbros, and I love the concept but I wish they had some original iconic characters rather than simpleton shape thingies.

Looks like a lot of fun to me, but it also seems like it will get stale quicker than their other games. Still can't wait to play it though.

When I saw the first video way back when, I was hoping it'd be kinda like a 2D Littlebigplanet, or at the least a 4 player co-op platformer.

Ugh, didn't finish either video. Looks very boring. It seems like the video that was shown off when the game was first heard about was more interesting. I guess that's just a gametype, so hopefully there's something better.
