Whether that includes the idea of making a halfway decent game based on a Hollywood film has yet to be seen, of course. Opting for director Tim Burton over American McGee (currently working on a separate Alice project), Disney Interactive Studios has announced that a new batch of Alice in Wonderland games will arrive early next year, just in time for the upcoming movie. While Wii and PC versions will "follow the film's epic storyline and introduce new fiction and locations," the DS Wonderland will diverge and introduce a different art style, as well as an extra playable character alongside the imperiled Alice.
The games, which are in development at French studio Étranges Libellules, seem centered on an upgradeable combat system and the use of support characters, like the Cheshire Cat or the Mad Hatter. According to Craig Relyea, senior vice president of global marketing at DIS, "Alice in Wonderland introduces fans to an entirely new style of innovative gameplay designed to challenge the puzzle solving skills of older players while making the adventures accessible and enjoyable for the younger crowd." That quote's probably going to be trimmed a little for the back of the box, but you'll get the idea.
Those averse to boxes of any sort will be pleased to note that Alice in Wonderland is also slated to hit the iPhone, iPod Touch and mobile phones not made by Apple in early 2010.

I don't know, I happen to like most Tim Burton things and Johnny Depp is fuckin' genious. I don't think I've ever seen a movie with him in it that I didn't enjoy.
Even Nightmare On Elmstreet was decent.

9 still looks amazing though, so there's always that. It helps that the short it's based off of was awesome.

I'm still hoping for that speculation that Johnny Depp would be the The Riddler in the next Batman movie. That would be awesome!!!

IGN posted the first trailer for the movie yesterday (I believe), so you can check that out. The Hatter seemed a bit too much like Wonka to me.

archi, the last Doctor Who would >>>>>>> Depp as the riddler. Also i think this new alice movie looks awful, i hate tim burton. It's like he wants his movies to appeal only to hot topic regulars

Are you referring to Eccleston or Tennant? Because Tennant would kick all ass as the Riddler or Mad Hatter.

Wayne, you forget that Burton was making movies like this before Hot Topic was even a Lukewarm Topic.
I get what you're saying though, he does seem to be a bit repetitive with his settings and moods throughout most of his films. The only movie that didn't have a bit of that Gothic-fantasy setting was Planet Of The Apes.

Oh ok. Don't get me wrong though, Eccleston is awesome too. He's the only reason I might go see the new G.I.Joe.

WAIT WAIT WAIT.
Is Tennant rumored to be a possible Riddler?
I would probably die of happiness if that happened. And then regenerate and see the moviea few dozen times.

Sweet. Here's hoping it turns out well. The film looks like it'll be amazing and my girlfriend I are both psyched about it.
She'll be glad to hear a DS game is on the way.

Johnny Depp can't act, and is a moron. But all the metrosexuals will pretend he can right until their own death. Nobody knows why.
But I bet Skeet Ulrich, who looks exactly the same and is just as untalented an actor, is probably wondering why no love swings his way.

Ah yes, when I think of alice in wonderland, combat is what instantly comes to mind. I'm sure this game will be excellent, the rare tie-in game that just "gets" the property it's tied into. Seriously, the FPS chapter in Through the Looking Glass was my favorite bit. I cannot wait for what is sure to be an excellent game.
