Comic-Con 2009: South Park Let's Go Tower Defense Play! in action

Whatever you've been doing for the past 15 minutes, we promise you it's been more productive than us. See, we've been trying to make heads or tails of UGO's gameplay footage for South Park Let's Go Tower Defense Play! you'll find after the break.

It looks sort of like a typical tower defense game, except the kids seem to be building the towers themselves. Also, they're sort of like mobile towers of their own, and it seems that several people are playing cooperatively. It's all very puzzling, but at least it can't be worse than Chef's Luv Shack.

Yep. Sold. South Park games are pretty awesome.

I liked Chef's Luv Shack... of course it was only 9.99 when I bought it, but me and my brother had a great time playing it.

i really loved chef's love shack too, Stop trying to tell me that my childhood was bad JOYSTIQ! lol

Well, it's not for me. Maybe this is someone's idea of a great South Park game, and I wish that hypothetical person well.

It's a Tower Defense game, what exactly were you expecting? These type of games you either enjoy or don't, seems like you're in the latter.

I expected nothing in particular, but was HOPING it would end up being more of a satire of tower defense or something like that. South Park the TV show is such brilliant satire, I just wish the games reflected the cleverness of the show. I think it can only really shine as a graphic adventure, but that'll probably never happen.

You could always buy the game from 98?

Agreed. Graphic adventure is the only way cartoon licenses work in game form.

Also, what game form 98 are you talking about? There's no south park graphic adventures.

Looks like it works in a similar way to Pixeljunk Monsters, with the coin collecting and co-op play.

Yeah, it's exactly like Monsters. But since I love Monsters and South Park, this can only be a good thing!

Hmm.. they've been working on this for more than a year and all they have come up with is yet another tower defense game???

Umm, Can someone please tell me what a 'tower defense' game is? I coudln't work out what the hell was going on in this video.

Wow, if anything is gonna make me get a 360 it's this and 1 vs 100.

contrary to popular belief 1 vs 100 gets old kinda fast, extended play is kinda weak, but live shows are kinda exciting, esp. now thats theres prizes.

It's pretty much only fun if you play with friends. Then you either feel smart or stupid.

THOSE 2 games are the ones that would make you break down and get a 360?

Lame. Wake me when license holders realize graphic adventure is the only genre that will work for animated comedy IP.

Even though it didn't sell, Beavis & Butthead in Virtual Stupidity was the best example of how a cartoon license should be delivered in game form.

Also, you must have the talent that makes the show work. That means not only the voices, but the WRITING. Shitty writing/voicing is what makes modern graphic adventures more of a chore than a treat.

Hopefully PETA won't get mad about shooting the cows.

There's much better videos of this game floating around... I think Gametrailers has one of the devs explaining the game, etc. That would have been much better to use.

It's a tower defense game, except you can control the main 4 kids in real time... so it also has an action component.

I think calling this game a tower defence was a huge mistake, it seems to have immediatly turned a lot of people off, when it actually seems to be more of an action/beat 'em up.

I'm not the biggest South Park fan in the world, but I still think this looks pretty cool.

Definitely going to get this as I love tower defense games and South Park. What could go wrong unless of course the price is not right and just expensive. xD
