I think EA and Ubi are trying to be nice here. They're clearly trying to send Blue Bubble a message: Your game sucks.

I mean why on earth would EA, Activision, and Ubisoft pass on putting out a game for the DS? It has the highest console sales this generation.

Yeah I don't see why they would all deny a game just for being DS exclusive, its more likely they just don't think the game would sell good.

Or, more likely, it didn't fit into their idea of what was a DS game. It's owned by a lot of people, yes. But that audience, by sales charts data, is mostly made up of a casual gaming demographic. This isn't a tirade against the system, it's simple reality. Your "Petz" and "Imagine" games on that platform are simply far lower risk and fit better into their business plans for the DS than a title for "hardcore gamers", unless it was a popular enough franchise like Call of Duty.

I really have trouble believing that the big publishers would balk at a quality title for the DS, especially with its ownership levels.

But we can still be friends.

Keep in touch"

I don't know about Activision, but doesn't EA release DS games pretty regularly? >_>

Sure they do (both, actually). But they usually only release games for the DS that are not also available on every other platform you can think of. DS exclusives? Unheard of.

maybe it was too violent and mature and the publishers didn't want violent games on the ds.

'Big guys' not interested in [M-rated] DS-exclusive games.

They learned their lesson over and over again with the DS and Wii: the market simply is not there to justify developing Teen or Mature titles on either system. Most of them sought refuge with the PSP, PS3, or Xbox 360 years ago.

That's because no-one has tried to put a full-scale, AAA mature title there for a very long time

The fault here is the chicken, not the egg.

@Khan - oh come on - GTA:CW. Full-scale, AAA, M-rated, huge amount of development effort and the best game bar none on any current handheld system... and (even though it may have sold sort of okay by some standards) it wasn't a big success.

Sure, that's only one game, but at least one publisher did try, and you can't blame others for being wary. I agree that most of the other M-rated or otherwise mature-ish games have kind of sucked, often by trying to do something that would frankly just be better on a 'real' console. But that one didn't, and it still didn't sell.

I'm glad someone picked it up, although I've never read the books I'm very interested in this game. It looks pretty awesome!

That screen actually looks pretty cool.

More and more incentives are popping up for me to drop my hard-earned cash in the lil' system that could (and killed the others).

Henry Hatsworth had the backing of being a puzzler hybrid same goes for Might and Magic.
But this game is just another Dungeon Crawl and one that will not sell a whole lot but is going to me much appreciated.

If only my mum hadn't given away my fighting fantasy collection to a charity shop i could make a small fortune on ebay! I think i had all of them from #1 to beyond 50 and all the spin off stuff like "Out Of The Pit" and the novels. That was my thing before i got a Megadrive.

that's what i was going to say... talk to Eidos (or is that Square now? )
Either way, Square don't seem to have a problem with DS only RPGs...

PS/ Warlock of Firetop Mountain = huge amounts of awesome!!!!

Have you even heard of Retro Game Challenge? That's my most recent obsession, but there are literally scores of great games for the system.
