It's one of the defining struggles of our generation: Affable loser Guybrush Threepwood and his lifelong foe, the evil zombie/ghost pirate LeChuck, battling for the love of Elaine Marley. Now, it's been captured for all time in this gorgeous, 10-inch resin statue that you can pre-order right this moment.
Remember how, just the other day, you said you were looking for the perfect International Childbirth Education Awareness Day present to send us? And that you were looking to spend around $90? Hint, hint.
[Thanks, Drake]

I would rather have this quite frankly. Monkey Island is an institution.

These are limited to 1000, and has been up for almost a week now, I very much doubt there's any stock left.
I probably would have got this if it were available in the UK, but shipping that thing from the US would add a ridiculous amount of shipping and tax.

yeah, no. It's still there. The amount of stuff that's limited to 1,000 that stick around for years and years... Heck, just thinking of the Jetfire mini-bust for about $40 that I bought for my friend's birthday is still around, and that was released how many years ago?
Monkey Island has a very niche market and not a lot of people would know about this.
SO I think it'll be around for a while.
And as much as I like Monkey Island, I don't know. There's something about this one that's not screaming a purchase.

I think we are going to start seeing EVERY game come with a pointless collectors edition.

...and this isn't part of any collector's edition of anything

When will you and Engadget learn that you can't put a picture of something white on a white backgroud?

Uh, Joystiq, I think you will see that this, in fact, is not the zombie pirate LeChuck, nor is it the ghost pirate LeChuck, it is in fact the pirate from the events in the Tales of Monkey Island series, which means that he is, in fact, living.

$90 is a lot, but man... what an awesome little statue.

This statue looks awesome. Too expensive, but still very well-made.
And to everyone saying it's not the G.P. LeChuck, this is exactly how LeChuck looks in the updated graphics of the Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition, (which is also very well done), just minus the really nifty special glowy effects they have on him in the game. Which would pretty much be impossible to recreate in a statue unless you have like, voodoo powers or something.

As much as I love Monkey Island, that statue is obviously priced as a "collector's item" and not as a product. The thing has so much money added to it because to the price because it's "limited", and I'm just not going to pay for more than the actual production is worth.

Ninjas > Pirates for me.
And although I love Monkey Island, that statue just doesn't cut it for me. I don't dig too much the artstyle following MI3.
