I bought horse armor, too. It made my drab, naked horse into an AWESOME horse. *nods*

Some of this seems a bit much, but if I can look like Dwight Schrute, I'm sold.

If my avatar is able to hit my friend's avatar with it on the Friends channel, this could be so worth it.

The only virtual clothing for my avatar that I would be interested in buying are team jerseys and hats.

well i was thinking it would unlock awards based on your achievements, so that way the system knows what you have done instead of having to patch any game that would support them.

but yes, they need to explain it, and the list of dashboard updates said awards would be in it.

Im all for unlockable stuff, but there is no way in hell i am paying a dime for any of any avatar add on. I work too hard for my money to throw one cent at some computer generated clothing. Ill keep my honest opinion of those who do buy this garbage to myself.
This isnt even about how much it costs, this is just about its worth (zero) and its usefulness. I dont care if its 50 cents, its ridiculous to buy something ill hardly ever see in the fist place and adds no pleasure of function to my life what so ever. It isnt even entertainment value. So good on you if you are one of those that would buy electronic clothes or whatever, but as far as I go, No thanks!

If I get accepted for the 'pre-release' version of this thing on Monday, will I be able to buy something, wear it, and have other people see it on their xbox? Or will they have to have the update too to see it?

It's kind of amusing how there's so many options and outfits and crap for the avatars, yet they -all look the same- with that retard look on their face. If you're gonna copy Mii's, at least do it right!

The Avatar marketplace is a cool idea....but of course Microsoft is just using it as another way to make money. These items should be unlockable with games, rather than something we pay for. Charging people money for items that make a virtual character (look different is a dick move.

I really dont understand the avatar hate; if you dont want to spend a whole dollar on an avatar tee take yer cheap ass to Wendy's and get a Frosty.

Im enjoying the avatar program and i doubt theyll end it because a few so called hardcore geeks dont like it. its not for you, get over yourself.

I like the avatars but the only thing I don't like is avatar gamerpictures. They all look the same and they are so dumb looking. They have all have a surprised face or a angry face or a serious close up face. They don't look good people. Quit using them!!

Personally though, the prices are a bit too much, considering that there is NOT that much use for the Avatars. I love the idea though, and wouldn't mind paying for designer clothing labels and such provided that the price is right. But for the asking price, it is a little too much.

If it was $5 for an entire set, I wouldn't be inclined to write about the price.

On another front. I would not mind paying for say Samus Aran's Chozo Power suit though... however, what are the chances of that happening? =) Link's and cohorts costumes or even Mario's... I mean make it a cosplay of sort, heh.

The child in me is hoping that MS will do something like this in the future... How much would they have to pay for rival company's intellectual properties? :D

Ah well, it is my birthday, I want to have my cake and eat it too. ;)

I dont get why so many people hate this idea. It's completely optional. You dont want it? dont buy it. I expect most good items will be unlockables as opposed to purchases. I personally am waiting for an Ezio costume for finishing AC 2. I have a slightly bad feeling some games will exploit this and have half a costume won, half bought. One other thing is pre order/special edition bonuses sounds great to me instead of character/weapon skins.

i doubt theyll split up outfits half/half like that but i wouldnt be surprised to see them split them between achievements. beat Mass Effect on normal and get an RC Mako, beat insanity (hard) and get an armor jumpsuit.

And the answer would be the same. Get the hell outta my house.

Big difference between a fully interactive game that has cost millions to produce, and $2 ring or necklace, dude.

Then again, a fool and his money are soon parted. Anyone who buys in to this kind of crass commerce deserves everything they get.

Microsoft has been doing the same with themes for ages, i can't say i wasn't expecting this.

Microsoft will charge for anything, period.

RedSon, what about the overpriced HDs? The proprietary crappy memory units, the overpriced and crappy wi-fi dongle that can only be used on the 360?

We both know Microsoft is more money hungry than the average company, just don't pretend you dont know it.
