During the Gearsiverse panel at Comic-Con, Epic's Cliff Bleszinski and Ron Fergusson revealed that there will be Gears of War-themed armor of both the COG and Locust variety coming to XBL Avatars soon. One rule that Microsoft imposes on Avatar clothing and models is that they "can't look inhuman," according to Bleszinski. So they pieced together a workaround set of Locust armor that you can check out beyond the break.
Look for these new Avatar upgrades to be available when the next Xbox Live dashboard update becomes available soon. Meanwhile, we're going to scurry out to our preview builds to see if they're already available. Be sure and peep the Locust image, just around the corner.

Gotta go with Regault on this one. My wife sighs every time my guy does that thing where he closes his eyes, points up and jumps (after editing avatar). It's not very manly looking.

Maybe it is because the only way there is any junk in those pants is if they are doing the Silence Of The Lambs tuck.

I'm surprised they didn't put assless chaps on the locust avatar. Microsoft is taking these avatars too far, at least try to make them more manly.

lol Carmine is the Kenny of GOW. i've been wondering how they're going to kill of the other two in the last game, unless they rip Saving Private Ryan or something.

God that Carmine avatar looks awesome.
Please let this be an awardable instead of something you have to buy.

The XNA rules also say you have to use the entire avatar, can't just have floating heads or Rayman-limbed avatars running around. I think MadBalls did just that, making a character out of your Avatar's head. Definitely only applies to indie games.

To add... I'd still guess the No Guns rule applies. Maybe if the gun were strapped to the avatar rather than them holding it in their hands (put it on their back or their thigh). The RC Warthog has a gun on it after all.

That is what i fear.
If it's priced reasonably & sold as a set, then i'll buy them - if its all separate; boots = 80MSP, trousers = 80MSP, body armour = 80MSP, gloves = 50MSP, helmet = 120MSP - then i will not be buying this.
(unless its so incredibly awesome i must have it).
Oh sh*t, there goes my point i was trying to make

Just looked at the hi-res version,
& the armour looks, for the lack of better words,..... far too gay.

Killer,
Yeah, I agree. The armor communicates more "I'm a twinkle toes at a cosplay party" than "I'm a hard core gaming badass." But I think that's due to the artistic design of the avatars themselves than anything. My guess is MS has limits as to how much "bulk" costumes can add to the thin avatars.

@ Cj
The armour itself isn't, but it makes the avatar look it.
