We use our iPhones for a wide variety of purposes: Keeping our enthralled Twitter audience informed, playing Home Run Derby MMOs, dueling with virtual lightsabers -- those sorts of things. We've never used it to play mobile murder simulators -- but by the look of the above trailer for Icarus Studios' Dexter, we'll be doing just that when the first episode of the game hits the App Store later this summer.
Though it still seems to contain the scattershot gameplay that we saw earlier this year at GDC, it looks amazing for an iPhone game. If you're a fan of the show (and by all means, you should be), it might just be worth checking out.

Looks okay, I'm still not a fan of the iPhone control scheme. I need something more tactile like a joystick when controlling a game. But I might pick this up, it will be my second app purchased for my phone, first one was Vanity for the iPhone and that was worth it. The show is interesting so I'll give this game a try if it's not too expensive.

I'd like a dexter game on a better system, say the PSP or DS, but considering I originally though this was like a mini game type thing where you just kill people and do some other things, rather than a full game as it is, I'm impressed. I'll buy it as I love the show.

either way, just another reason gaming shouldn't be on devices like iphones and blackberrys.

Games shouldn't belong on the iPhone? Why?
I love my iPod touch for the games.

The iphone isn't a gaming device. It's a mobile phone. If you want to play games on the go buy a DS or a PSP.
Another reason why the http://iphonessucks.com iphone sucks.

Most of the time, I don't have room to carry a PSP or NDS with me everywhere I go. The only electronic device I keep on my person at all times is my mobile. On the rare occasion I get the impulse to play a game on the go, there are plenty of good iPhone games I can play. It's also a lot easier having all the games you desire to play right on the hardware itself instead of juggling cartridges in your purse/pocket. Still, who has time to play games all the time?
If you are under the age of 18 or are still in elementary school, go with a DS or PSP. If you are over the age of 18 and in higher education or are in charge of managing your own life, go with the mobile. I love my DS, but it stays on my dresser 99% of the time where I might fire it up if I can't sleep... I'd wager a few quid that's the mindset most adults have towards handheld game consoles.

The mindless iPhone hate really gets old. How the hell does it hurt you for people to have the ability to play games on their phone? Who are you to decide what devices they must carry to play a game? It's just dumb logic at play.
If I'm sitting on the train and I decide i want to play a game I think I should be able to play one on my phone if I so choose. It doesn't damage your ability to use a DS or PSP for me to also be able to pass some time. Hell, I have a DSi and a PSP and the fact is that I don't always feel like carrying another device around with me. I have to have my phone, so now I can conveniently still play something when the need arises without having to have to plan ahead for it.
You guys and your hate towards a device look like total tools to me. Get over it.

@Aivskar
If you're already saying it phonetically, why not just spell it the more common way?
iFuck.
And for those rappers out there with low self-esteem issues we present...
iFuckingRich
Which we will also market to the Asian crowd.

Looks like it's based on the first season. There is definitely an ice truck headed toward Dex in the final seconds of the trailer. If the story of the game is a retelling of the first season it's going to get pretty boring pretty quickly because we already know the ending.
