It may be just a handheld game, but Sega's Shuntaro Tanaka promises the upcoming PSP-exclusive Valkyria Chronicles 2 will feature more content than the original PS3 game. While the first game was strictly a single-player affair, Tanaka says the PSP's Ad-Hoc mode allowed the team to explore local multiplayer. (Dear Japan, gamers like to use the internet for gaming too!) Without going into specifics, Tanaka says the content of the game will be a "few times" bigger than the first, with battles that are "even deeper" than the original.
The announcement of Valkyria's change in platform surprised many, especially those who expected a PS3 (or 360) sequel. However, PSP Hyper notes that "future games won't be focused on PSP only," leaving the possibility for a third game in the franchise (if it happens) to jump ship to yet another platform. Until then, we'll be happy with the prospect of a portable Valkyria.

Maybe they did it on the PSP because of the market in Japan, and the third will be on the PS3 after the user base has grown more

I hope they don't ruin a great game by adding. . . ack. .. internet. . . ack. . . to it.
Internet sucks and should NEVER be included in any game.
More Valkyria is a good thing tho. As long as it does not go to shooterbox 360 I don't care what platform it's on.

Internet sucks? Yet you used it to write that comment. The internet has been a huge help for videogames saying it shouldn't be included in any game is a bit stupid. Maybe just your internet sucks.

Iphone version is next. That or Wii! I'm sure the sells was a reason not to do another PS3 version. After the bootlegs get out on the psp version I'm sure they'll regret that.

I hope they streamline the book a little and shorten some loading times (specially when loading a game). I liked how they had it set up, but the book and those times were a little slow.
I really wish they would reconsider releasing this on the PSP though, nothing against the system, but I like playing games like this on a TV so I'm not stuck squinting at something to read it. That, and it would also guarantee the graphics don't take a hit.
And nothing wrong with adding some online play to the game. They had DLC already, and it would be nice to play against a friend, or even team up with a person or two to face a greater challenge.

Personally I'm not worried about the sequel being on the PSP. The original was hardly a technical marvel, graphically or logically. As a strategy game VC is absolutely doable on the PSP. Hell, it'd be doable on the DS. Might miss out on the canvas filter and two pre-rendered implementations of PhysX but... oh the fuck well? It'll be fine.

Internet isn't the most common connectivity feature here in Japan, wifi access points are actually really hard to come across in Tokyo (Don't expect to go to a Starbucks and jack yourself in). People often use their cellphones ase their main internet connectivity device.
I could see it working fine with an internet connectivity mode, but I don't mind actually playing with friends, you know...in real life.

Good. These are the types of games I like to hit the sleep switch and continue later.
