Horde is still feels 5 players or not at all.. it should tailor it self to number of active players, and let people join between rounds... Far too many quitters on Horde

As I don't really play Gears 2 online and the extra mission is only 20 minutes long, I think I will save my points for better DLC.

(Yes, I am the OP, Joystiq seems to revert to an old nickname and address field that I have corrected a second time today)

My point is not about paying extra for something that is new, but rather the unpredictability and secretiveness of Microsoft's pricing structure. If they were more forthright and upfront with what they were going to do then I would have no problem. DLC does NOT follow economics because not everything gets cheaper based on demand. In fact many prices change arbitrarily.

I don't pay full retail for cars, video games, electronics, or ANYTHING else. I never have. I've always shopped around. Of course people who do pay $60 for a game that they could buy a month later for $30 may be mad at others that try to be frugal and plan their purchases. The economics of those things is very easy to handle and I save a ton of money. DLC is not the same thing.

For those that disagreed respectfully: Thank you for taking the time to talk about it. It was helpful. There were a couple of usefule things there.

Remarks like calling me kid, implying I don't know economics, and other bull is uncalled for. Did I come in here disrespecting anyone here?

I don't understand the problem you're having with it. Maybe DLC doesn't decrease in price with time as quickly or often as retail stuff does, but it still does. They have a deal of the week often knocking off 50% or more of some DLC every week, and it's never brand new content.

They also run promotions on XBLA games, often throwing them up there for 400pts when their original price was 800pts or more.

DLC follows the same economic mold of all the retail stuff. While it may not decrease in price as quickly or often, it's certainly not going to get more expensive and at some point is probably going to be cheaper.

Keeping you in the dark? Again, no different from anything else, if they told everyone about some awesome deal they were going to have for it 4 months down the line people would be reluctant to buy it before then. It's the same way Capcom didn't announce that in 4 months they were going to be selling the game for $19.99 at Gamestop on the day they released the game.

Damn my account is screwed up. I keep trying to reply to a thread and it keeps going nowhere, then I try again and it shows up on the main thread.

I sincerely apologize for the double post. I won't try again. I really hate this comment system.

If you reply twice in the same thread joystiq gets all screwy unless you remove everything after the page number from the URL manually and reload.

So if I bought the game new and I got the flashback maps, then I bought the snowblind maps, what's best for me? buying all fronts to get the new maps + combustible for $20, or buy only dark corners ($15) and combustible ($10) for $25? Obviously for the price alone, I should get the all fronts collection, but is there a problem if I buy that and practically re-download 2 map packs I already have? or will it know I have them and will just download the rest?

Although host advantage is annoying, I still have a ton of fun with Gears 2 MP. And like everyone's been saying, you pay more to play it first. It's only fair.

I don't care for multiplayer maps, and I've heard that the new chapter is 20 minutes long, so it's a definite "no" from me.

Thanks for the tip on Joystiq. I will try to watch out for that.

DLC doesn't decrease in price at all as a rule of thumb that is rarely wrong.

Deal of the Weak is a temporary sale price. That is not a permanent price drop. If you miss it, you are SOL.

In General content that is years old still costs the same it did when it first came out. There are exceptions, but they are just that... exceptions. I have to disagree with you: DLC does not follow the same economic mold that all of retail follows. I can't sell my DLC. I can't buy someone else's used DLC. There is stuff I have downloaded that I no longer need and would be glad to sell to someone else or even just be glad to GIVE it to a friend but I can't do any of that. DLC does NOT follow economics. Demand and Price are not linked at all at this point.

There is a monopoly on DLC unlike cars, tvs, game discs, and anything else that has been quoted in that other thread. DLC is not the same. I've never bought 3/4 of the addons for a car and then had the final 1/4 of the addons be offered at the same price that I bought the first 3/4 of the car for. I've never bought the two movies in a trillogy at 2 or 3x the price of the 3rd movie in a trillogy.

You can't compare DLC to these other things. Why try and defend what Microsoft is trying to do? At least with game prices, there is a trend that you can follow and predict. There is no such trend with DLC. Some gets put on sale and some doesn't and the sale only lasts a week. The prices don't drop, in general. It's an artificial market with artificial prices and artificial inflation (average price of content over time has gone up).
