Good for them, I thought it was quite enjoyable. Sure it had some flaws and aggravating mechanics but I had fun through the whole thing for the most part. Too bad the performances by the actors weren't a bit more spirited though...

I thought the only really bad one was from Bill Murray. Sounded like he recorded his lines from a Golf course, and probably did.

That's funny because although I've heard that in reviews I thought the dialogue and performances were quite good. The main issue w/that kind of multiple character format is that oftentimes the actors aren't even together when dialogue is recorded so it loses the tempo and tone that a face-to-face session would have.

Ever hear a bad radio ad where two people are talking to each other but it's clear they recorded the dialogue seperately?

Ghostbuster's dialogue recording wasn't like a radio ad by any stretch by the disconnect was certainly there at times but I attribute that to the format rather than the actors. The writing was very strong and the story ties into the first film very well.

Biggest flaw was the unbalanced AI, both enemy and partner, but scaling it back to 'casual' solved that issue (I wasn't playing GB for a intense challenge) and the multiplayer is great fun. Good game, glad I own it.

The trailers were horribly voiced and/or out of context. Bill Murray and everyone else in the game though were spot on and made me laugh the whole way through.

@Mazrael

Pac-Man was Midway not Atari. They developed one for the 2600 which was a horrible example of anything.

That was my first thought too. They really are the new EA. I'm glad EA has gotten better and even Madden this year has impressed me. I'm not a Madden guy at all and playing the demo reminded me of playing the demo for NHL '08. Everything just feels right.

Can't wait for Brutal Legend to do well and Activision can suck on that as well - as long as EA can release it that is....

It wasn't that they thought it wouldn't be a successful game, they just didn't see the possibility of whoring it out every year and turning it into a yearly million selling franchise.

vgchartz isn't the most up-to-date sales tracking out there.

They are usually behind. I remember it took them around 2 or 3 weeks to update the 360's 30 million unit sales.

Yeah, VGChartz is a poor source of info. I think they guess at the amount of jelly beans in a jar sometimes and use that for their data.

NPD is pretty good, just a longer wait.

Well the blogger didn't provide a source so he could be pulling this out of thin air as well... But if the number is from Atari it might be copies sold to retailers, not customers.. etc etc.

I have really enjoyed this glut of Ghostbusters in the past month. It's one of my favorite movies of all time.

Now if they can do the same with a month of nothing but Caddyshack - a game, a Blu Ray release, and Carl Spackler (with Snickers bar) and Al Czervik sackboys! Cannonball!!!

Most third party games that do well enough to pay for them self but aren't a grand slam, drop in price.

My thought is will this be elligible for a best sellers re-release so I can pick it up for $30. It's probably a very good game, but I have a list too long of good games I picked up and never finished. At a $30 price point, its cheap enough to buy for that rainy day or whenever the unemployment bug catches up to me.

Actually, it only takes 500,000 (and ten months of sales) to make a Greatest Hit, but that seems to be region-dependent (and also, of course, platform-dependent).

Anybody know how much of the retail price a publisher will see? Have they made back their money on the NA sales alone? That would be nice. Ghostbusters is only out on the PS3 in the UK, the 360 and Wii versions are due soon so hopefully they can shift another 150K or so on the back of that.

generally software gets a 20% mark up at retail (the store pays $50 and you pay $60)

Not sure what the split is though with manufacturing the discs and advertisement.

Really glad this game did well though. Activision can eat a dick. I can't wait for Brutal Legend to come out swinging in October.
