PSA: Xbox 360 Dash Preview invites in the mail [Update]

Update: According to the comments in this story, the Xbox 360 Dashboard Preview has begun to roll out now.

If you were quick enough on the draw to sign up, you may notice an email from Microsoft in your inbox today inviting you into the new Xbox 360 Dashboard Preview. The public preview -- which opened up for selected press and MVPs earlier last week -- is not fully live just yet, but Microsoft is notifying users if they were accepted into the program. Unaware of what to expect when the new dashboard hits this August? Joystiq has a lengthy guide with a plethora of videos to show you the ropes for the "New New Xbox Experience." Those guys are swell.

hopefully most of the good unlockables will be difficult to 'boost'.. even if you 'boosted' an achievement it still took some effort to get.

for example, seriously2.0 is impossible to get via regular multiplayer: you basically have to sit on one level for months shooting locusts and reloading that stage.

I've done a bit of boosting already. I'm on True Achievements, put that I'm available to boost for every single MP game I've got.. I'll join in if it gets the job done

I like the Achievement Progress bar on the dash, it's fairly healthy, I'd of liked to look at my 'complete' games, or choose favourites.. tempted to do Hell mode on Bullet Witch to add another (1gs)

im more inclined to finish some games to get 1000gs after seeing the "completed games" tile.. and the more unlockables they add to the system the more likely im gonna play those games to get items i want.

i wonder how theyre gonna show what unlockables i can get for the games i have. i dont want to randomly play games and not know whats out there..

By looks of it, the 'complete games' are when you have all available achievements, not just the original 1000. my 360 tells me 25 games, yet True Achievements say's 27. one example is Tomb Raider: Legend, I have the original 1000, but not the Anniversary DLC achievements, because I bought the retail version instead..

all updated and all of my games rated. I actually was the first to rate about 8 games i own. i felt so special. (granted 3 were the bk games and one was that terrible dbz burst limit game).

Looks as though MS accepted way more people into this than the NXE update, not that I'm complaining or nothing.

Probably because it's less big of an update, and for the NXE, it was more like we were actually testing it.

This is basically just a way of rolling it out slowly, instead of everyone scrambling to download it at once and crashing the servers.

anyone else having problems watching netflix?
any time i go to watch a movie it keeps having me re-enter the activate code.

i've had netflix since NXE and now its acting up?

That happened to me when my card expired with netflix. Make sure you're signed in to xbl. After I applied the first update for the dashboard, it didn't signed me in automatically. I don't know if it means anything, but I had a separate update for netflix. Anime channel, hell yeah.

yea there are meant to be avatar items but i don't know what they are. I've finished the game but it doesn't say anything just gave me a dashboard theme, guess we'll have to wait till the 11th when it goes live for everyone else to find out what it is. BTW i also checked in the avatar creator under the awards section but zip.

I filled out the form dose it take awhile to get the update?

Did anyone notice the new free clothes like a black hoody and so on? I've never noticed them before.

I logged in last night and I got the update. I signed up but didn't think I'd get in, but I did. Honestly, the best thing is the increased speed of moving through the blades and menus. Avatar Marketplace is really really stupid and I hope no one feels the need to waste their money there. Games on demand seems to only have Xbox Originals? Some decent improvements are there though but if you didn't get an invite, don't get all bent out of shape. It's not that special and its out on the 11th anyways..........

all my stuff is up to date for netflix and all. i did the update and everything with it.
i go thru the netflix activate page and everything and once thats done, i choose the movie i wanna watch and bam "error, you device must be register to the console to watch movies" everytime. never fails :( before the update netflix was still working for me.

Anyone else missing the "Documentary" category for browsing in the new update?

I don't think I got my update until twelve midnight. But someone was on my xbox so I am not sure. Loving it so far though. Can't wait to tell my friends.

I didn't received any mail, but i still got the dashboar preview =D
