DJ Hero Renegade Edition packs Jay-Z/Eminem CDs, fancy case/stand
If you have the urge to spend even more than $120 for DJ Hero, we've got great news. When the game launches, you'll have the option of picking up the "Renegade Edition" of the game, which includes a special turntable, a hardshell case that converts into a stand and a two-disc CD set of Jay-Z and Eminem music that features some previously unreleased tracks. Not that this comes as a complete surprise.
Now, we could take or leave the CDs (Music that you don't pretend to play? What, is it for babies?) but the case/stand actually sounds pretty slick. Here's hoping the price (which we have no clue on, naturally) is right.

You'd think a game like this would try to appeal to a certain crowd and come with limited edition 12" pressings of said albums.
Nap @ Jul 29th 2009 11:05AM
This is gonna be a hard purchase for me as a vivid Jay-Z/Eminem fan I've heard everything Eminem has put his hands on. The only thing that would seal the deal for me is the Eminem track that was cut from The Wash Soundtrack. That's a diamond in the rough right there
sho220 @ Jul 29th 2009 1:40PM
please, the last thing i want is more vinyl. also, you gotta remember a lot of non-dj's are going to be buying this game, it isn't 1970 anymore, turntables are far from standard. so what are they going to do with a LE vinyl, hang it on their wall?
Paul @ Jul 29th 2009 2:22PM
I got a 99 dollars but this shit gets none
hit me!
Duke @ Jul 29th 2009 9:58AM
There it is, the final proof: We gamers will blow cash on anything.
NaeemTHM @ Jul 29th 2009 10:02AM
Dude....the 400 billion units of Wii Fit sold last year proved that point.
Baked Duck @ Jul 29th 2009 10:10AM
lol Wii fit.
baby sea tuna @ Jul 29th 2009 10:44AM
Yeah. Funny thing is, I'd probably play this more than I do my Wii Fit...not that I'm going to buy it or anything.
JoeTheBlow @ Jul 29th 2009 11:37AM
You obviously haven't seen the mountains of GH:Aerosmith packs that every retailer was desperately trying to shift earlier this year.
Similarly, i'll be picking this flop up when its $20 6 months after release.
Shimrra @ Jul 29th 2009 9:59AM
Shouldnt all the DJ Hero's come with some type of stand?
M.Garvey @ Jul 29th 2009 10:11AM
+1
baby sea tuna @ Jul 29th 2009 10:45AM
Stand schmand. It should probably come with some lube and a rape-whistle for as much as they're going to end up charging.
zero2dash @ Jul 29th 2009 10:52AM
Going by the above picture it looks like a DJ table that folds out of the box if you don't already have a DJ table. (Like Kramer's coffee table book)
Then again, that's probably the Redonkulous Edition that will retail for $50 more than this one.
distancerunnerfernando @ Jul 30th 2009 12:07AM
bingo
Snake Robot Podium @ Jul 29th 2009 10:00AM
Now THAT might almost be worth $120, if the game is good.
Purnell @ Jul 29th 2009 10:01AM

ottoman673 @ Jul 29th 2009 10:03AM
as cool as this sounds, i don't see myself spending that much [[let alone the $120]] for this game.
...coming from someone who's buying the prestige edition. :/
slimshady @ Jul 29th 2009 11:16AM
I'm gonna buy the 120 bucks edition just for the Eminem/Jay-Z CD. If there's unreleased music on it, I gotta buy it.
Martin @ Jul 29th 2009 11:21AM
You made the music, Slim. Don't you ever break character again.
Cheezeman3000 @ Jul 29th 2009 12:03PM
I doubt he's the REAL Slim Shady...
ottoman673 @ Jul 29th 2009 1:24PM
The $120 edition is the regular edition, guys.
Not the special edition with the CD's and stand.
Spike @ Jul 29th 2009 10:08AM
the biggest gaming purchase i have spent was GHWT, and i'm starting to regret that
Archon (PSN: Archonik, XBL: DarkARHN) @ Jul 29th 2009 10:10AM
I bought the Full Band Kit for Rock Band 1 (imported from the US to the UK for over 200 pounds), upgraded to real e-drumkit with a custom made MIDI to USB converter and never, ever, ever regretted that purchase.
Spike @ Jul 29th 2009 10:26AM
which is why i'm getting the RB2 full band set
Troy Powers (PSN: TroyPowers) @ Jul 29th 2009 11:00AM
Why would you buy the RB2 full band set instead of just using your GH instruments and only buying the RB2 disk?
Spike @ Jul 29th 2009 11:03AM
i got GHWT back when i used my wii for music games, i got RB2 for 360
GewurztraminerX @ Jul 29th 2009 5:48PM
I did the same thing - my impatience for RB DLC being one of many contributing factors.
Troy Powers (PSN: TroyPowers) @ Jul 29th 2009 10:11AM
I'm looking forward to this game, but $120 is enough. The music I can download, and I can put the turntable on my lap. I don't think I would want to stand to play anyway.
Chris D.(PSN: Aggie_CEO | XBL:The Aggie CEO | Steam: Aggie_CEO @ Jul 29th 2009 10:19AM
Now I would Actually be a Sucker for that....and I've been leaning more towards the other DJ game....
WINterfang @ Jul 29th 2009 10:23AM
I know about Dre but is Eminen suppose to be a DJ?
Nap @ Jul 29th 2009 11:02AM
Yes, Eminem actually produced the song called 'Renegade' for Jay-Z's Blueprint 2 album and is considered a cult classic in hip-hop. He also produced most of Obie Trice's debut album as well as his own Encore album
Troy Powers (PSN: TroyPowers) @ Jul 29th 2009 11:28AM
Actually, he produced the song "Renegade" for Royce 5'9", and THAT version is the underground classic, as it never made it onto an album and hasn't been widely heard/played. Then, somehow the track ended up on Blueprint 2 with Jay-Z replacing Royce. Nas later used the track against Jay-Z on the diss track "Ether" stating that, "Eminem killed you on your own song." Jay-Z hasn't done a song with Eminem since.
I'll take "Little Known Hip-Hop Trivia" for $200, Alex.
Troy Powers (PSN: TroyPowers) @ Jul 29th 2009 11:30AM
Correction: That was The Blueprint, not The Blueprint 2.
Nap @ Jul 30th 2009 10:41AM
Got my balls handed to me..
He's Royce and he's the king of the Detroit, and I'm the sinister.. mister kiss his ass is just a --
Nick Ritch @ Jul 29th 2009 10:32AM
The cds are tempting but I guess I'll just wait to download them after the game comes out.
$120 was too much to begin with.
j.howlett @ Jul 29th 2009 10:36AM
i want to see the controller being used. those hero buttons still confuse me
cknblade @ Jul 29th 2009 10:40AM
In my pre-coffee morning daze, I read this and thought that this edition was $120, and I was mildly considering a purchase. Not a chance of me buying the REGULAR for $120-I already have enough plastic instruments in my house to recreate Lego Rockband by melting down some of my spare guitars...
Jim Halpert DM (XBL) @ Jul 29th 2009 10:54AM
I assume it's the "Renegade Edition" because they did a song called Renegade together.
PedoJokerBear (aka Deeznuts) @ Jul 29th 2009 11:06AM
this would be a renegade edition if it came with hair bleach and camel cigarettes
Access Granted @ Jul 29th 2009 11:42AM
Is there another DJ game to play or only this Activision one?
bak @ Jul 29th 2009 11:58AM
Soooo... is this game getting an M rating or are there going to be more bleeps than there is scratching... ? Anybody know?
Tim @ Jul 29th 2009 12:01PM
I just hope that the M rating would be justified, by having NWA classics like "Fuck tha Police" in DJ Hero.
bak @ Jul 29th 2009 3:12PM
Just wondering what crowd they're trying to get. While it would be great for old kids to rock out to their favorites unblemished by censors - it sure would put a damper on youth group parties at the church ;)
Sorry kids, better stick with Rock Band!
btw - not passing judgment; just curious
Lou @ Aug 1st 2009 5:35PM
I checked on Gamestop its $200
distancerunnerfernando @ Jul 30th 2009 12:11AM

matt holman @ Oct 21st 2009 4:57PM
I can clear afew things up here as I work in a the UK warehouse that is packing the normal version of dj hero and renegade. The case comes with 4 screw in legs underneath it that turn it into a table. The controler has gold peices rather than silver. The CD is a compilation of Jay Z and Eminem tracks. Apart from that its the same as the normal version.
Oh, and the bx it all comes in is a slightly different cardboard.
That hurts and cuts me atleast 3 times a day.
