Halo Wars stats wiped, may not come back
Hey guys, we've got some great news: Convincing girls in bars with bizarre priorities that you're the world's top Halo Wars player just got a heck of a lot easier. Shacknews reports that all of the game's leaderboards were wiped out by a glitch in Xbox Live and developer Robot Entertainment says that they may not ever be recovered.
To that one poor soul who actually was at the top, we can offer only this pat on the back, along with the assurance that even though it seems like this tragedy has made his hours of Halo Wars sacrifice meaningless, it's simply not so. ... No, they were meaningless way before that.

Seeing as how you have to usually maintain a high score; the people on top should still be active enough to make it up there again. I personally wouldn't care. Maybe I would be a little upset but I would get over it in the next minute.
Roofie @ Jul 29th 2009 7:34PM
Seriously, guys, I was number 1 on the Halo Wars leaderboards.
Danzaiver @ Jul 29th 2009 7:38PM
In that case ... I was number 2!!!
Mr.Chrome @ Jul 29th 2009 7:38PM

III Bourne III @ Jul 29th 2009 7:54PM

Mr.Chrome @ Jul 29th 2009 7:34PM

geekthug01 @ Jul 29th 2009 7:37PM
Oh no! Now the person who is number one won't be recieving hate mail for being good!*Looks both ways in an evil way*
Moridin @ Jul 29th 2009 7:44PM
Unpossible, there was nowhere near 234,563 people even playing Halo Wars.
tenor77 @ Jul 29th 2009 7:37PM
Now I'll never prove I was 234,563 on the leaderboards.
Jack_Jackington @ Jul 29th 2009 8:09PM
Unpossible, there was nowhere near 234,563 people even playing Halo Wars.
Vcize @ Jul 29th 2009 7:41PM
I didn't really play Halo Wars online at all, but I'd imagine if I had this would be pretty freaking irritating to me. What is their reasoning for doing this anyway?
Btw, awesome picture.
Sly @ Jul 29th 2009 8:10PM
"were wiped out by a glitch in Xbox Live"
in the article.
Trickob @ Jul 29th 2009 7:42PM
shitty...
Stevetrop @ Jul 29th 2009 7:43PM
This is a crushing blow for stat whores in the game I reckon.
BIGGEN (LIVE-PSN: BIGGEN1103) @ Jul 29th 2009 7:43PM
i wish this would happen with every game. maybe the cheaters at the top would give us real players a chance lol
Ballistic H @ Jul 29th 2009 7:47PM
So, you say they cheated?
BIGGEN (LIVE-PSN: BIGGEN1103) @ Jul 29th 2009 7:58PM

DeoWulf @ Jul 29th 2009 10:15PM
How WOULD you know, hmmmmmmm?
Manly Mcbeefington (Mr. ESC) @ Jul 29th 2009 7:50PM
Wow all those hundreds of people playing Halo wars must be pissed.
ArchiGamer [thephilosophyofgames.wordpress.com] @ Jul 29th 2009 7:51PM
By hundreds, you mean two.
j/k
Longhorn @ Jul 29th 2009 7:55PM
that right Archi, we all know everyone returned this game when they found out it was an RTS,
they probably did this on purpose so those two people go back to playing the game to get back their score
Snowblind @ Jul 29th 2009 8:13PM
Still two more people than what MGS Online has though, huh?
ArchiGamer [thephilosophyofgames.wordpress.com] @ Jul 29th 2009 8:15PM
I hope people realize I'm joking and not being serious like -some- people.....
Akuma FTW @ Jul 29th 2009 9:09PM
You guys are so right! When Little Big Planet came out all the HaloWars kids traded theirs in so they could play with each others sacks!! Shoryuken FTW
BlackDove @ Jul 29th 2009 7:51PM
Yep, they were meaningless to everyone but the guy in the #1 spot.
Mouthsmasher @ Jul 29th 2009 8:06PM
Kind of makes yout think about how meaningless these kinds of stats are. I can imagine that there's a few people out there (none of them seem to be here on this site) who are enraged about losing their ranks, probably screaming inside their tiny heads, "Do you have any idea how much time I spent getting there!? All that time now wasted!" I imagine that we'd be hearing a lot of angry people if a more popular game's stats, like Halo 3, gor erased.
As a whole, I think much of the gaming community focuses too much on their scores, achievements and ranks rather than on actually enjoying their video games. I pity the person who spends hours and hours trying to build their online scores and reputation, which ultimatly amount to nothing in real life.
Tiptup300 @ Jul 30th 2009 12:33AM
Halo 2's ranking system was wiped. I loved the game at the time, but my stat washing killed the fun for me. So I started modding. I've since cleaned up and keep a midrange skillrange in Halo 3 that I wouldn't really mind loosing.
DangerMouse @ Jul 29th 2009 8:10PM
Well, it's not like they shut down the game servers....yet.
Havok @ Jul 29th 2009 8:21PM
I believe the number one went by "Spartacus."
notworksafe @ Jul 30th 2009 2:24AM
That deserved an upvote
fourdee3 @ Jul 29th 2009 8:23PM
This is wonderful news.
msmith9292_8 @ Jul 29th 2009 10:11PM
Someone got pissed off at MS because he couldnt pass number 1 so he reseted it :)
Nick @ Jul 29th 2009 8:42PM
If I had my rank wiped in GOW2 I'd quit. So much hard work down the drain. Wouldn't be able to convince myself to do it all over. I despise Halo, but I certainly feel for the guys that put hours into the game only to see their hard work lost.
CyberKnight @ Jul 29th 2009 9:40PM
Oh, please tell me it didn't reset the total experience points earned. That would set my quest for the General rank achievement back another couple years...
RedSonRising @ Jul 30th 2009 1:22AM
@Cyberknight
yea, thats what im thinkin. i was 50k away from my third star playing standard 1v1 almost exclusively. if this reset my stats towards general i quit, ill never get it now..
ChuckJ @ Jul 29th 2009 9:44PM
Imagine all the losers who would be crying, literally, if this had been Halo 3 stats. I swear kids would be killing themselves over that.
Or Is It Alton Brown? (Loyal MW2 Sweatshop Employee) @ Jul 29th 2009 10:08PM
Or shoving remotes in their assholes.

I know it's not Halo, but the principle remains the same.
Scooter @ Jul 29th 2009 9:59PM
I wish this would happen to the RB2 leaderboards. Those are all kinds of broken.
Avoli @ Jul 29th 2009 10:21PM
Want to know what the person who was number one did? I bet it went something like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gn9wDHOXw-A
Avoli @ Jul 29th 2009 10:36PM
LoL, damnit, someone posted it above.
Reader @ Jul 29th 2009 11:32PM
Lawl... Microsoft doesn't even try with backups, much less an off site backup, yet they try to blame their users for getting viruses.
(just to clarify, I side with Microsoft on that issue for the most part, but it seems hypocritical of them to claim it)
Ch0ppa @ Jul 30th 2009 12:23AM
how the fuck you get a virus on an Xbox dumbass
Mychas @ Jul 30th 2009 9:55AM
I'm sure if someone wanted to make a 360 virus they could do so easily. I'd imagine actually infecting the console would be the hard part.
