"This ability makes Clank the most powerful he's ever been in the franchise"

even more powerful than giant flying clank from size matters? NOT POSSIBLE.

I think he means "normal" small clank (the one who rides on Ratchet's back). Giant clank is his temporary "powered up" form.

Yeah, right, because Braid was the first game ever to use time mechanics. Give us a break.

Actually, Insomniac already said at comic-con that they've been inspired by indie games such as Braid so there is nothing wrong with the statement in the article. They never said it was the first to do it, but you have to admit, once that took off more games seem to be doing it (echo-chrono or whatever it's called now).

some games shouldn't have multiplayer. like ratchet, sly cooper, and bioshock. this is coming from a multiplayer lover.

sly cooper had multiplayer and I enjoyed it. I never played a Ratchet and Clank game so I dont see the justification for this to cost $60 if it doesnt have that much repay value

For the record, I have no problem with Ratchet & Clank. Just thought you'd like to see how much of a tool you are when you constantly do crap like that.

They tried multiplayer with Ratchet, and it blew (as predicted). You have more than enough games to run around and play team deathmatch in.

sly's multiplayer was more like minigames you played with other people. i mean like deathmatch, team deathmatch, capture the flag, etc.

uhm no Sly R&C SHOULD HAVE MULTI PLAYER. Why the fuck do you think people are dying for Insomniac to just say yes or no and if you were one of the original players from UYA and Deadlocked like I am you know just how much fun it was. I played R&C and R&C: GC thinking that those games were perfect on there own. I never once thought about online but UYA changed that. It was fun and it worked. Taking that away for so long hurt some of the players and it seems as though there probably wont be any multi player feature again for ACiT.

Insomniac is really starting to test some of the loyal fans by not saying yes or no already. I played UYA until my eyes bleed online because of how addicting the gameplay was. Online was a major component to the game even though there was only a few thousands of us who even knew how to get online and were on.

I miss the R&C community and being able to play with a tight knit group of people who all loved the greatest Sony PlayStation franchise ever.

R&C co-op would be fantastic, but standard multiplayer? no. even if the multiplayer is decent and fun, it still probably wouldn't be anywhere near the multiplayer in games like modern warfare 2.

R&C is a fantastic single player game, I don't see why it must have MP. Like Uncharted, I don't care if they want to add MP as long as the singple player doesn't suffer as a result, but since I won't be playing the MP I don't care if it's there or not. The game is a day 1 purchase regardless.

the R&C franchise is one of my favorite franchises of all time (right up there with Crash Bandicoot and Spyro The Dragon) and i remember the multiplayer component of the old PS2 games. i gotta say i really didn't enjoy them all that much. granted i wasn't playing online but it always seemed to turn into a cat and mouse game with whoever could get to a plane the fastest having a HUGE advantage. i don't know, maybe multiplayer could work but what i would really like would be online co-op. that feature was super addictive in Resistance 2 and i would love to see something like that R&C as well. otherwise, the game has plenty of replay value as it is considering i usually play them over and over again.

try and get tools of destruction and play through that. you can look up the rest of the games on wikipedia so that you understand the story and references.

To be honest, I've played R&C2 on the PS2 and Tools of Destruction and I don't have the faintest idea what's going on in the story. It's just a very fun game.

My suggestion is to get Tool s of Destruction first so you can get the idea of the story leading up to A crack in Time. After you are done, though, go back and get the PS2 games. You won't be disappointed as they are all extremely fun and right now you can get them for a few bucks. You can skip Deathlocked since it emphasized multiplayer over single player. But you must get Ratchet & Clank, Going Commando, and Up Your Arsenal.

With the original R&C I re- discovered how much fun we have playing games. It was the same fun as I had when I turned on Super Mario Bros 20 years ago. When I played it I had just gotten my PS2 and had yet to get a memory card. It was a weekend and when I eventually looked at my watch I realized I had been playing Ratchet for over 8 hours straight. That's how much fun that game is.

Platformers made from good studios are a lot rarer than the last two generations, no pun intended. The Ratchet games shine in a mess of disney and lego etc...

In all honesty, can you explain to me what makes the series great?

To be honest I've always dismissed it because it looked like a platformer aimed at a younger crowd. Is that all it is (albeit a really well made one I gather) or is there something else to the franchise that attracts older gamers?

Yeah, it's called exclusivity. You don't need to be a good game so long as your only on one platform. Then you automatically achieve AAA status..... at least until you come out.

@McWilly

You bored? this isn't some new IP which has to be hyped by the fanboys, this is a franchise that's been established and has it's followers no matter what platform it is.I would be equally happy(or more) if it also came out on the Dreamcast.

AoE play it, I am not a young gamer, I can tell you now its an absolutely brilliant game.

Its as good for older as it is for younger, theres always adult references within the game, but thats not the point. Once you start playing the game you wont put it down till you have clocked it, its just brilliant.

I highly recommend purchasing Quest for Booty DLC. That's a direct sequel, and it's a 3 hour game if u don't try maxing out all ur weapons and finding all the secrets. If you do, you can stretch the game to another 3 hours i think.

Oh, and it's really fun, and I think there's a slight improvement in graphics from tools of destruction.

Hopefully that'll give you something to do while waiting for Crack in Time.

Hell, I played through Q4B at least 5 times so far. It's one of those games I play over and over because it's short enough that it can be finished in a weekend. It's not such a big time commitment.

Different strokes for different folks, I guess.

You need to turn overscan back on on your TV. If you have it turned off, then you may see garbage that is supposed to be hidden. You can bitch about how lame the developers are to have junk in the overscan area, but in the end the only real fix is to turn overscan back on.

Does anyone else feel that the humor in Tools of Destruction/from what we know of Crack in Time is not the same (i.e. not as good) as the PS2 titles?

Hopefully they still have Dr. Nefarious having the occasional glitch when he gets angry.

I hope, rather, that they have new gags rather than relying on the old ones. The reason ToD wasn't as directly funny was because it was more story driven. This means less NPC's so, unless you want your character to be a complete wise cracking idiot, its better to tone it down a bit. That said, some parts of ToD still make me laugh even after the 7th play through.
