With so many games being delayed until 2010, it's good to see that at least some high-profile titles not involving modern warfare or "teh haloz" still expect to release this year. 2K Games has released several new screenshots for Borderlands, which is still planned for an October 20 release.
So, we agree, it's really pretty ... now can we play it a little?

This is one of my most anticipated titles this year, along side Uncharted II and Brutal Legend. Still playing the hell outta Battlefield 1943 and 'Splosion Man. Mmmm and we got Shadow Complex in October as well. It's all so Yummy!

Borderlands is borderline 2010. Don't keep your hopes too high up. It looks good, but look what happened to The Batman and other high profile games. It could still be pushed. Let's hope not....

Eh, I like the game better before the whole art change. It looked really gritty and authentic sci fi. Now, it just looks downright cartoony.

This game's looking more like a 4-player Fallout 3 lately, which is *interesting* in concept, but the combat clips always leave me feeling kind of cold. Floaty movement and guns without impact combined with unloading half a clip into a single mutant dog before it goes down seems kind of... meh-inducing? Worth a rental I reckon.

umm.. are you talking about fallout 3 or borderlands? sure that's how fallout 3 plays and it's still fantastic. what clips are you watching that give you a floaty sense? i seriously doubt you've played or seen enough borderlands to give it a judgment call / comparison such as this.

@Joe
I was actually talking about Borderlands, although you're right, Fallout 3's combat could also be accurately described as such. Not that Fallout 3 wasn't worth playing, but the combat wasn't anything to fondly reminisce about.
As for Borderland's combat, you can see footage packaged with the executive producer PR-blathering released yesterday (http://www.gametrailers.com/video/executive-producer-borderlands/53472) that shows the floaty movement and bullet-spam. Mutant dog shooting around 0:31, I like how he had to use about a clip and a half *plus* a haymaker to kill a single mutt, around 1:58 you get to enjoy the sight of the player reloading what appears to be a sort of electric tommy gun, emptying the entire clip into an enemy and removing roughly 1/6th of his health in the process.
Since this is legitimate hype media being released by the publisher posted yesterday, I can safely form an observational opinion on the game's movement and combat. Considering that the producer thought such exciting features as "looting corpses", "selling loot in stores", and "using that currency to buy other gear" were exciting, noteworthy game features, I can also *very* safely label this game as only being worth a rental.

hey, thanks for that video. i had not seen that one. i see what you mean about the movement and unleashing of ammo. however, it looks like whoever was playing in that video sucks at fps. i am not great at fps but this game is reeling me in with the rpg elements. i guess i am anxious to try it out but may need to rent it first.

Forget about Halo:ODST and MW2, I am really excited about this game, and will def buy this game before those two other titles. The RPS is finally born and I can't wait to play it.

This was one of my top games for the year but after seeing the combat / gameplay I'm meh....
I thought the icons and UI elements were really poor looking and not really in keeping with the overall design. The combat looked bad. I'm hoping it's just one bad video and I'm wrong.
