Xbox 360 "exclusive" Star Ocean: The Last Hope has appeared on GameFly under the PS3 platform with a TBD release date. We followed up with GameFly and a company spokesperson let us know, "We simply post information as it is supplied to us by the publishers."
Apparently, enough time has gone by for the "exclusive" game to do its damage to the competition abroad. We're currently awaiting a response from Square Enix and we'll update as soon as we receive a transmission from the distant star system.
Update: Square Enix has responded to our request for comment, saying that "[The GameFly listing] was an error, but we cannot comment on an official PS3 release [of the game]."

Screw this. I just want FF13.
We *should* have been getting it this Christmas; SE have been able to give all their other games this gen simultaneous worldwide releases - Infinite Undiscovery, The Last Remnant, Star Ocean; fuck, even FF14 is getting a simultaneous release - so why isn't their biggest game of the gen getting one?
*sad face*

Just pray that FF13 turns out a bit better than the other games Square Enix have released this generation

Oh, I'm not worried about that, bluetev. Remember, SE loads of different dev teams working under them, and it's one of their best working on FF13. (Their other really good ones are working on FF Versus 13, and FF14.)
Also, I've seen videos of the demo, and it looks great. Really can't wait for it.

So far everything Square-Enix has done this gen has been sub-par.

did Square do Lost Odyssey or Eternal Sonata? Because those were both great RPGs

Nope. Lost Odyssey was done by Mistwalker (Blue Dragon) and Eternal Sonata was done by Tri-Crescendo (Baten Kaitos).
So far, Square has released Infinite Undiscovery, The Last Remnant and Star Ocean 4. Infinite Undiscovery was ok, The Last Remnant was atrocious and Star Ocean 4 was a good game, despite the bad, BAD voice acting.

I agree with Jampirow. I'm playing Infinite Undiscovery now (endgame), and I would definately classify it as ok. I haven't played either of the other Square 360 games yet, but I did play both Lost Odyssey and Tales of Vesperia. They were both superior, but this gen still is seriously lacking in above average JRPGs compared to the last.

Thats because they are multiplat now. final fantasy 13 is not going to be as good as it had the potential to be. Might be the first FF i rent.

Ugh, please save the PS3 owners the pain of that awful game.

While I've been iffy about Square-Enix's choices with releasing so many mediocre titles onto the 360, this is the one I'm avoiding. The Star Ocean series has gone downhill from SO (SNES) being awesome, SO2 (PSX) being great to SO3 (PS2) being a mess.
Besides that, I just can't agree with SE's business practices in trying to be popular in the West through the 360. Here's a tip... you're popular most places, have multiplatform releases for more moneys.

Well, say what you wanna say, but I'm pretty confident Microsoft is getting it's ass kicked in terms of games exclusivity which, by the way, was the only reason I would ever *think* about getting a 360.

I pre-ordered SO4 and got it when it first came out. I even bought the strategy guide for it since I knew Star Ocean games had atrocious private action shit that you would never know about unless you had a guide.
And you know what? It was probably the worst jRPG I've ever played. Terrible voice acting, terrible character models, terrible lighting (WHY DOES EVERYTHING HAVE TO GLOW), terrible colors (your ship is entirely blue on the inside, and a dungeon inside a ship is entirely red), and frankly, a terrible combat system.
Going from Tales of Vesperia to Star Ocean: The Last Hope was like eating a perfectly cooked steak only to end with some pisswater Bud Light beer. Everyone with a PS3 should skip SO4 and tell SE to go screw themselves with their shitty games and delayed ports.

I can easily see where some people wouldn't like star ocean 4. I wouldn't go as far as to say it's a disaster. The main faults with it are the horrid camera, blotchy backgrounds and choppy animations. All of which is purely aestetic, and no real gamer should let that be a deterrent.
At it's heart, it has an extremly deep and gratifying character building system. The game basically forces you to level grind. I heard there are 200-250 levels, so maybe that's a good thing. You get 8 characters and 100 battle trophies for each to unlock. And you have to fight 100 of every enemy for completion. Except bosses of course.
This game is a major major time suck, but if you like battling and leveling up like me, it's a decent game. It's not nearly as polished as Lost Odyssey, but it serves it's purpose; to get me through until FXIII.
And don't compare jrpgs to western rpgs. They're not the same. You can't praise one without selling the other short. Well some people can't anyway.

You are welcome for the tip. :P
By the way, once this game does come out expect more Japanese gamers to break more discs.

I'm sure no matter what I say, someone will cast me as a troll regaurdless..
But in this case, I'm honestly sorry for you PS3 lovers. Star Ocean, although kinda sorta fun during the repeating battle phases, the story was god awful boring.. Anyone who owns a PS3 and needs help falling alseep, Def pick this up! the Cutscenes are like 45-90 minutes long sometimes and the voice acting is terrible. I love sci-fi but ugh how I struggled to get thru the first 10 hours of this game, afterwhich I got sick and traded it in for Tales of Vesperia.. Such a good decision!

Guys, leave the PS3 gamers alone. They have a great system, and so do we. Enough with your talk.

In wonder how many Japanese kids will break their 360s over this one?
Anyway, I've never gotten into Star Ocean since Til The End of Time bored me to tears, so this "announcement" means nothing to me. Just give me Tales of Vesperia, thank you.

Yes I was talking about consoles.
Honestly though. While TWEWY was a good game. I don't think 1 good game this gen is enough to keep them from being sub-par.
Dissidia is pretty good and so is Crisis Core.
It's just the console stuff they have done is nothing short of below average.
The Last Remnant, Infinite Undiscovery (which I liked for awhile, but got bored with after about 20 hours), Star Ocean 4 and the Silpheed game. (notice how all those are on 360)
Final Fantasy 11 was a port.
And no Square didn't do Eternal Sonata or Lost Odyssey
