WT was my first music & rhythm game and I made the jump from Easy to Hard really quickly.Expert is taking me a while but I'll get there eventually. Then again I played an instrument growing up so things that would probably give other people trouble (identifying and keeping the beat) came almost naturally to me.

Also, if by challenge you mean note overflow, then yes, Guitar Hero excels in that portion. I mean, a lot of the medium charts better match the songs then the hard or expert parts

Exactly Moptimus. I hate that. It's always a weird feeling when your fingers are going all over the notes yet you're only hearing a string or two being played.

1) You can use the guitar in Rock Band, which isn't exactly a shot to make Guitar Hero any "better"
2) A lot of Guitar Hero songs eventually wind up in Rock Band (just look at the World Tour and GH3 setlists)
3) Challenge? Are you crazy? Have you played Rock Band? There's a ton of HARDER songs in Rock Band (something I wouldn't have thought when RB1 was up against GH3, but its actually very true now)

I'll get it....eventually. Not $60 for a game that I'm only going to use for extra songs, and definitely not when the $60 could go towards The Beatles: Rock Band

I agree. I'll be waiting for this to fall below £20 before I even think about buying it. The tracklist is the worst yet for any GH/RB game.

"Country" Rock Band = Print Money.

Actually, that Country track pack consists of songs you can download off Rock Band. The disc comes with achievements, a code to export the songs to your hard drive and for LESS than what it would cost to download them.

So RB is actually making less print money with the track packs.

Of course it's not terrible. It's legendary; Activision know who the big names are, and they have the money. What's terrible is the fact that this wasn't DLC, and that the DLC on GHWT is absolute shit.

I used to defend this franchise after Activision took it, but never again...I'll buy GH5 in the bargain bin, or wait until these songs are available as DLC on RB2, but no fucking way am I giving in to their tactics and buying this game at launch.

"What's terrible is the fact that this wasn't DLC, and that the DLC on GHWT is absolute shit."

I very strongly disagree with this statement.

-Queen
-Two Jimi Hendrix packs
-The Eagles
-The Raconteurs
-R.E.M.
-Smashing Pumpkins
-Two Nirvana packs
-Silversun Pickups
-Rise Against
-Wings
-The Eagles of Death Metal
-BRUCE FUCKING SPRINGSTEEN

Those were all great DLC packs and I'm happy those will carry over to GH5. I still think anyone bashing the GHWT DLC is just complaining for the sake of complaining. After all that, what would YOU want as DLC?

Yeah, but they picked the worst songs from most of those artists' catalogues, still enticing you to buy the full releases for the good songs. I'm not saying there weren't a handful of good songs--I downloaded a few--but compared to RB2, and looking at this tracklist to see what they COULD have offered as DLC, it's absolute shit.

The whole principle DLC in rhythm games is the ability to expand your library of songs far beyond what's offered on the disc, so that you won't have to keep buying new games. Harmonix/EA is taking it to a new level by allowing artists and even whole label (Sub Pop) to upload their entire catalogue. GH's DLC is mostly rejects from their on-disc tracklist.

I think Guitar Hero is a half-assed franchise of bad games as well, but you can't complain about ALL of the DLC for World Tour. Yeah, there are some bad songs in there (Nickelbacklol) but the point is giving everybody what they want. There are some great music in Guitar Hero's DLC - if you want to bash Guitar Hero, go for the game... not the music.

...But on the other hand, they didn't choose great Hendrix songs for DLC...

Rock Band 2 is by far the best game of its genre. Note charts are much better, interface is better, and the constant flow of DLC is what really makes it stand head and shoulders above any GH in recent memory (and there have been quite a few of those).

I'm not so sure I'm picking up Beatles RB, but I'm positive I'll keep buying DLC for RB2 for quite a while, specially when that new system is up and running, and publishers can upload the tracks themselves to the music store.

These are the GH5 songs already in Rock Band:
1. 3 Doors Down - Kryptonite (In Rock Band: Unplugged)
2. Blink-182 -The Rock Show
3. Social Distortion (Johnny Cash cover) - Ring of Fire
4. TV on the Radio - Wolf Like Me
5. Blur - Song 2 (In Lego Rock Band)
6. Bon Jovi - You Give Love A Bad Name (Lego Rock Band)
7. Duran Duran - Hungry Like The Wolf
8. Iron Maiden - 2 Minutes To Midnight
9. Kings of Leon - Sex on Fire
10. No Doubt - Ex-Girlfriend
11. Scars on Broadway - They Say
12. Thin Lizzy - Jailbreak
13. Vampire Weekend - A-Punk (Lego Rock Band)

Plus almost every artist on the GH5 setlist is in a Rock Band game. It's only a matter of time when all of these songs are on Rock Band.

"Yeah, the majority of the bands I'm interested in on here already have better songs (or the exact same songs) on Rock Band. Blink 182 just released their GH5 song on RB along with 2 other last week in addition to the other 2. Theirs already 3 better Jimmy Eat World Songs and about 10 other Weezer songs that I like more. We have the entire Rush album, the No Doubt Greatest Hits, and about 400 other songs...I just can't justify going back to Guitar Hero. Plus RB releases the same amount of DLC in a week that GH does in a month."

We have an entire Rush album
We??????????? WTF is that!!! do you work for harmonix cause it sure seems like it.
And also DLC is sooooooo expensive

The competitive scene in Guitar Hero will always be better. All the expert guitarists and bassists would agree that GH3 is the best rhythm game out there. It's hard to be competitive in RB since everything is DLC dependant. There are less Full Game FC's in RB since all the songs on the disc are insanely easy, and DLC doesn't count. The only way to be competitive in RB is either to play drums to Visions or the new Metal DLC, or Full Band FC all the songs.

Ok, am I the only one that liked GH2's setlist the best? Most of them were covers, but even they were really good covers at that.

Honestly, this setlist is unbelievably instrumentally boring (save for king crimson, rush, megadeth.) To me it is definitely understandable yet disgraceful that Guitar Hero appeals to the modern - day listener (which includes songs that are mostly under 3 minutes and lacks talent of any instrumentalist. I mean - there is one guitar part i can think of in feel good inc.!)

They should put some challenging music like Dream Theater, Liquid Tension Experiment, Symphony X, Malmsteen, Vai, Satriani, instead of wasting their time putting 3 minute long pieces of crap that lack any talent on guitar, bass or drums.
