Beneath a Steel Sky remastered for iPhone

The new version, Beneath a Steel Sky Remastered, won't be free and won't run in ScummVM, but it will have the advantage of running on iPhone. The update will include new content like fully-animated cutscenes from Watchmen artist Dave Gibbons. Creator Charles Cecil expects to charge around $2 or $3 for the title.
"Yes, you can jailbreak your phone and play the game for free," he told Eurogamer. "But if you like the game and like the kind of games we make, then pay us a little bit of money and, if it's a big enough success, we can reinvest the funds. We can start to look at a potential BASS sequel."
According to the announcement, the iPhone version will be out this fall. Revolution Pocket has plans for other mobile platforms, including Android, PSP Go, and DSiWare.

$2-$3? I'm sold! I never got to finish this game before and this sounds like a good opportunity.

This is one of my favourite games ever. Not as good as the likes of Sam & Max or Monkey Island, etc, but it was one of the first point and clicks I played.
Pretty disappointed that it's only an iPhone game at the moment though, hopefully that PSP version comes soon.

Oh god oh god oh god.
It shall be mine.
I haven't played this game all the way through in a long time.
As long as the "remastered" version doesn't give Robert stupid hair (*looks sternly at remastered Gybrush*) then I'm sold without a second thought.

Well hell, if I had an iPod or iPhone, I'd get it.
Typing that without my Sour-Skittle-dusted thumb and index finger was somewhat difficult...

Put it on something else, please...

Its becoming clear that with downloaded products, its low price that matters. If only the music and movie industry would take notice. At this price, I would buy 8 movies at a time.

The original is available right now for free on Good Old Games, gog.com. I haven't really gotten much into it yet, but its basically some DRM free games on the site.
Lucky @ Jul 30th 2009 12:30PM
It's available for free in lotsa places since it's freeware.

whylekat @ Jul 30th 2009 11:28AM

Question to readers: I own an iPod Touch and have downloaded Peggle. If I got this and then in a few months bought an iPhone would I be able to download these two games to the iPhone for free via the same account or would I be forced to buy them again for the phone?
whylekat @ Jul 30th 2009 12:55PM
Yes anything linked to YOUR iTunes can be downloaded/installed onto any device registered with that iTunes account.
pocketcup @ Jul 30th 2009 12:17PM
I need to play this! Shame I have no iPhone. I hope to god they release it for PC or 360 arcade.
Everyone who has an iPhone or Touch, PLEASE BUY THIS GAME! I need a sequel, oh so bad.
edweird @ Jul 30th 2009 12:26PM
No iPhone here but I'd buy it in an instant if I had one (even though I've probably played the game through ten times by now) both to support the awesome creative minds behind it, and to support the possibility of a sequel.
Is there any way to buy iPhone apps without actually owning the device? I'll seriously buy this thing if there is.
Fnord @ Jul 30th 2009 12:33PM
If they release this on Android, I'll buy a copy in a heartbeat.
Will @ Jul 30th 2009 3:33PM
OH GOD OH GOD!
AM I DREAMING?!
I hope this starts a resurgence of new adventure games too. I bought Tales of MI and played it one sitting it was so amazing.
Now if they remaster Day of the Tentacle I can die a happy man
AoE @ Jul 30th 2009 3:31PM
Put it on PC or a console, and I will most certainly buy at least one copy. Put it on PC AND consoles, and I'll buy two copies for certain.
Blaze @ Jul 30th 2009 7:26PM
Now how about a remastered Eye of the Beholder or Lands of Lore for iPhone?
