These developers have zero confidence in their game if they think they can't release their game in the same season as Halo or Modern Warfare 2. It's just sad. If anything, they should have moved the release date up to get it out sooner.

If they think they're going to set the world on fire by having an infamously over-delayed game, they're wrong. The publicity for Dark Void hitting this holiday was set up and they should have stuck to it.

But call of duty and halo both have a huge amount of name recognition, whereas dark void is a new IP and doesn't already have the following that those games have. So even if it is a great game, it could very well still get overlooked.

Bob Kotick - "We are delaying Modern Warfare 2 to 2010 as well. But don't worry, there is nothing wrong or unfinished with the game. We just want to be bigger assholes."

Then Capcom, EA, Ubisoftand everyone else release a joint statement saying that all their games are moved up into 09 again. Or delay them indefinitely.

It's actually pretty hilarious because they all got the message from us at the same time, so instead of doing research and realizing that they were too late to move Dark Void (which is a good thing, since it would've been pretty lonely during the holiday season) they just did what gamers have bitched about the past 2/3/4/5/6 years. Now we're going to bitch about all the games coming in the Jan/Feb months.

This is ridiculous.

Shoot, this is one of the major games I was looking forward to this fall. I guess I will get around to it next summer with my schedule. :-(

Man, what other game is getting delayed to 2010? This is really getting redundant! 2010 is gonna be a big year!

Damn!!!

Hopefully the games that were originally scheduled for Q1 2010 get "pushed" into Q2 and Q3. Then we could have one year without a summer drought...

And then I woke up.

There hasn't actually been any amazing games for me this year and I'm pretty sure every game I've brought has pretty much been a fighter...

Street Fighter IV, Battle Fantasia, UFC 2009 and BlazBlue

Also pre-orders on King of Fighters XII, Dissidia FF and Tekken 6

Besides these I've only brought Eternal Sonata and Demon's Souls and prolly will get Uncharted 2.

So year 2009 hasn't be the greatest gaming wise for me... the year of the fighter, sure, with the best saved till the end Tekken 6...

At this rate Uncharted 2 , Ratchet and Clank CIT, Demon Souls and Grand Turismo will have almost no competition. Almost every game that was supposed to come out this fall has moved to 2010. In my opinion this was a very bad move by all the companies. Many games will get stomped on without any room to breath. Games wil get overlooked and under appreciated. Some games need time to shine but they won't get to because other games will hog the spot light.

Screw getting games at the end of the year, when can we expect summer blockbuster games? I would much rather play games then go see "Transformers: Michaela washes Bumblebee."

I've still got Ratchet and Clank, Modern Warfare 2, Demon's Souls, Tales of Vesperia SBV (Slightly Better Version), Dragon Age, Brutal Legend, a handful of PSP games, and a couple DS games that I slowly paying off.

This holiday season is great for me since I have lots of systems, and Dark Void wasn't even on my radar. Unfortunately, as far as AAA titles, the first half of 2010 is so full it's almost freaky, so Dark Void is likely going to be crushed no matter what because everyone will be too broke after 4-6 straight months of awesome games.

Oh, and I somehow forgot Uncharted 2 (and probably a couple of others). Seriously, this is a great damn year.

SO many delayed games it's absolutely ridiculous. There are still a lot of great games comin' Holiday '09, like AC2, MW2, Batman: AA, Scribblenauts, DJ Hero, and I would love to get a PS3 and play Uncharted 2. Plus, we have PSP titles like AC: Bloodlines, and LittleBigPlanet for PSP. Now, that sounds like a lot of amazing stuff, and I can't wait, but a couple of months ago, there was supposed to be a lot more, which makes it a little disappointing.

@shadowbender

yeah, the list is shrinking, :/ but at least we'll be held over for a few months until the 2010 season. Oh, and don't forget to add Borderlands to your list! That might hold you for a few years. lolz

lol Well written article and great point, Chris. As others have said - my thoughts exactly.

If its one thing Capcom hasn't been much of this gen, though, its smart... when it comes to release dates, downloadable content and demos, anyway.

I know Modern Warfare is BIG but I also understand that it will have an EXTRA HEFTY PRICE TAG... anyway more than 60 just for the standard edition! I really, REALLY HOPE it will sell bad... if it will sell at that price more and more will sell at higher prices and that it's not good for us!

Personally I only buy my games when are around 15 new with only Motorstorm PR and Little Big Planet for which I payed 25... Yeah I know .. only bargains.. but 3 new games are equal to an entire months pay!

This article is mostly right on, except the fact that no one gives a crap about HALO ODST.
The game every publisher besides Activision is scared of is Modern Warfare 2.
By the way, I've played Dark Void at two E3s now and it is much more than 'a gimmicky piece of garbage. It has pretty cool cover combat enhanced by the ability to use vertical combat and players can use their jetpack to hover or actually fly around like The Rocketeer. You can also pull traditional flying moves such as loops and immelmans.
