Newest Blur video provides insight into game's vision

It's unfortunate that at the end of the half trailer/half developer diary you see above for Blur, the game's publisher, Activision, makes no mention of a release date. We enjoyed the time we spent with the game at E3 earlier this year, no doubt about it. However, the lofty claims various companies associated with the game have been making have us anxious to find out when we'll get to put it through its paces a bit more thoroughly.

More importantly, we'll finally find out what the "Shunt" power-up does. Also, how is that not a swear?

If they're trying to do a Wipeout thing, then I don't care if it's already been done because I am super bored with all the "Fast & Furious" style racers. Truly boring stuff. Burnout Paradise was fun for awhile, but sometimes I honestly just want to have a track and go at it.

Also, I'm all for destruction (remember Destruction Derby?) and Chaos and 20 cars, and 14 locations, but I want to see more about the power-ups. If they're such a big deal, can you do anything really cool with them besides Super Mario action?

Unless there's a giant photo-realistic banana, and that would be awesome.

Meh. Mario kart in a skyline. Power ups don't even look that interesting. How bout something more interesting like one that reverses everyones control layout (up = down, left = right, etc.). Or a drunk Irish theme. Who doesn't love the Irish I ask you? Maybe if Tim Schafer got involved somehow he'd spruce things up a bit....
