I don't understand, nor like COD5. it's nowhere near as good as, well, any other COD game. And the fact the this game mode even exists within the game makes no sense what-so-ever. It's like they're saying 'We know Left4Dead is a much better multiplayer experience than what our game offers so from now on, all DLC will be zombie-infested."
To the downvoters: I love you all and I just want to share it like they asked on the Podcast.

Despite the fact that the similarities between the two games pretty much stop at 4-player co-op mode with zombies? Yes, this is logical. And it's a bonus mode, so quite frankly it doesn't need to make sense. I'd love to see proper campaign expansions delivered for this series, but you and I both know that won't happen. As for it being "nowhere near as good as other COD games", that is a completely subjective matter. Just pointing this stuff out.

It's all relative, Mechanical. But it's opinion only, and I'm just stating it. I've played every, and I do mean every, Call of Duty game. And when I think back to the experiences I've had with each, they were significantly more enjoyable than any of the time I've spent with WaW. I can't keep that game in my tray for more than 10 mins. And to be perfectly honest, I only bought it because a lot of my other friends were playing it at the time and nothing else out there interested me. Guess what? They quickly moved back to 4 also.

Manly, the only reason this game has so much add-on support is because Treyarch has nothing else better to do. They ride on the coat-tails of IW and piggy-back off of whatever they do. The last game they did was QoS and they built that around the CoD4 engine. Before that, (big surprise here) was Spider-Man: WoS. How many times has that game engine been reused? So, as per routine, they have to wait until Modern Warfare 2 comes out so before they can stop supporting WaW and make...I dunno...the next Bond game I guess based on MW2's engine.

Well, its got a single-player that you would want to playunlike L4D. And competitive multiplayer. And better graphics. Maybe you would have preferred that they added a few more zombie maps, priced it at a full $60 and and called it Call of Duty 6

I'm not complaining, I'm criticizing them. There's a difference. It'd be a complaint if I had actually paid for the content and hated what I got. I did win a code for the first zombie pack, and I did hate it. But I can't complain because it was free.
I just think that when you call your game Call of Duty World at War, it should center around soldiers with a sense of duty to their country and themselves fighting a real enemy. Not a group of guys stuck in a bad horror movie.

They're already working on their next one, if memory serves. I'm glad to have both dev studios working on the series, they each bring great games to the table. So it uses the same engine, big deal. Lots of stuff uses the U3 engine, lots of games used id's engines, you guys act like it's theft. I just don't get it, really.

And Storm, it's a bonus mode, for crying out loud. The main campaign is quite zombie-free. Please stop over-exaggerating.

All I did was state my open, honest opinion about a game I've spent a respectable amount of time with and the flood gates just opened and this whole thing gets blown way out of whack. Treyarch is a great developer. But when you haven't made an original game since Minority Report in 2002 (which was horrible) and every game since has been a rehashed version of the last, your image tends to become a bit tarnished.
Now I understand that the strings manipulating Treyarch art exactly the most forgiving and I'm sure they've been getting the sure end of the stick on a lot of deals. But they haven't shown me any sign that they can put out an awesome, stand on it's own game since Ultimate Spider-Man.

The mode was in there as an experiment. Some of their developers made the zombie mode on their free time and then showed it off. The other guys liked it so they added into the game.
To their surprise, it became hugely popular. So they continue to support it.
As for using the same engine that IE uses, I'm sure Activsion ordered them to use the same engine for cost reasons. I'm sure Activsion has IW doing all the engine work for their "realistic" 1st person shooters.
The single player game, I agree, is not as good as COD 4 but not many games rise to that level. My biggest complaints are the up and down difficultly level and not really getting an emotional connection with the main characters. The multiplayer is very good although I do detest the tanks.

@storm
Stop being so dumb. W@Ws zombie mode is just an extra. I did not hear you complaining about the cheats that IW added into CoD4 for ragtime.
@ESC
My problem is just as much with treyarch as it is Activision. Im not so naive to believe that Treyarch gets to make what ever they want and that Activision just wants as much money as they can so they push out a new game every year. They problem with Treyarch is that they failed to innovate in the same way that IW does. They cloned CoD4 and added some small details. Back in the day, this would have been called an expantion. look at what gery matter did with CoD1. they added some shit but they didnt make it a full blown game and charge full price. valve does that too(usually). they add shit in but they dont charge full price

zombie mode in COD5 is great with friends. playing it single does suck... and the campaign had some memorable moments and people (like Sgt. Reznov). and the multiplayer is really fun because it's chock full of noobs. going 40-0 on seelow in war? that's great.

Invest in better speakers/headphones? It sounds fine to me...the only weapons that have less bang to them are the subguns, and that makes sense.

Hey, remember how we put that joke level in our game? Well, it turns out it was the only memorable part of our title because it wasn’t the same boring WWII crap. So, we’re going to take the zombie thing and run with it until everyone’s just as tired of zombies as they are fed up with WWII.
Score!

Yep. They've run it into the ground. It was kind of cheesy and fun when it was just a couple of the multiplayer maps broken up into segments, fighting off zombies.
Now they've developed all these lame ass characters, and these over-the-top huge maps and useless traps, it's just stupid now.

Activision has successfully ruined Nazi zombies now. The characters are just fucking lame, I cringe every time I'm forced to hear one of the American's awful one liners or the Russian's completely unfunny vodka references.
Couple that with the awful music they've put into the last 2 trailers, and the fact that it just seems like they are trying WAY too hard with this, I'm starting to not care any more.

ruined? You're making it sound like it was something incredibly sophisticated to begin with. These are ZOMBIES, come on already. There is a certain level of camp that should be expected from things associated with walking dead.
Personally, I like how each player has a personality.. it's a step up from Verruckt where everyone had the same voice and minimal personality.
I do agree about the music, but thankfully aside from it being in an easter egg, it's never really present in the game itself and can easily be avoided.
I have to wonder if you've actually played these new zombie maps, however, or are just simply basing your opinions on the videos. The traps are frankly anything but useless.
