I intend to get Bionic Commando eventually, just not for $60. I found out too late that Game Stop had it for $20 a few weeks ago. Ah, missed opportunities...

Both games are alright. Personally I think both games just got over hyped. Just cause Monster Hunter is an uber seller in Japan doesnt mean that it will repeat here in the US.

As for Bionic Commando I think its a solid average action game. But its nothing like this A+ title they were hyping it to be when it was being promoted.

I think if both games are sold at discounted price they will be worth the price but they both are not worth the full price they are asking for.

Monster Hunter, as it can be argued, is a niche game. I personally play and love it, yet I admit its best when played with others.

Bionic Commando on the other hand? Horrid experience.
Its "challenges" reset the second you die and have to reload a checkpoint, which is directly connected to multiple achievements, which is bad programming on its own.
Then the fact of having a "replay" option, but disabling any achievement you might of gained.
Radioactive zones were horrendously placed. Hell. When you fight those two mechs the first time and can get the "hit one with a drop attack" challenge, if you go anywhere near the church on the other side of the area, you are hit with radiation damage. Which left me trying to use either the bits of highway/road, or the light post on it, to try and get minimum distance to use said drop-attack.

The game reeks of mediocrity. Yeah its alright in each category, but in the end that "eh" around each part just drags the game down.

It's too bad. I would buy MHFU, but I don't own a PSP, and won't own one til the PSP Go comes out in Oct...

You never know, maybe if they're lucky they'll get a new surge playing when the Go comes out. (Either from people who buy a Go, or from people who are waiting for a price drop on the 3000 in the fall)

Meh, I enjoyed Bionic Commando. It had its fair share of flaws, but overall, I found it to be a rather fun and somewhat unique experience. I don't get why so many say it's "crap". It's truly not. It's just not that great, that's all. Still very enjoyable.

What a surprise. A lot of US gamers would rather have Resident Evil on PSP, not Pokemon Hunter Freedom. And it looks like they've finally listened (after four years).

My problem with Monster Hunter is it's total lack of user friendlyness. The game is very complicated, does as little as possible to help you understand what you should be doing, and the combat is very stiff, slow and boring.

I haven't actually played this newer version so perhaps some of my problems have been improved, but generally speaking, I can understand why the game has never been particularly popular outside of Japan.

If they were to make some huge next-gen version on the PS3/360 with faster paced/more interesting combat then I might be interested.. But I couldn't get into the PSP one at all, and the Wii version looks like little more than a port.

ryan you're trying to make this overly complex. Lets just agree it was a bad game that had swinging in it where a movie title that had swinging was uncharacteristically better.

I guess I'm one of the few that found Bionic Commando to be surprisingly fun. The grappling system is definitely more skill-based than Spider-Man, so I think that's what makes it so fun to play. The multiplayer can be fun as well if you play it in short bursts.

The story did blow hard, but I don't really mind, BC has always been one of those kinds of games you can disregard the story in (shame it took itself so seriously though, unlike Rearmed). For all the faults though, the one other thing that saved this game from being junk is Steven Blum. GREATEST VOICE ACTOR EVER.

monster hunter is soo freaking hard. It takes months to finally get where you have to and patience is a virtue And every time you fail a quest you have to restock(takes forever!!!!!!!!!!) unless you predict you'll get your ass kicked and exit the game before you die. Anyway, Capcom never gave a damn about pushing that game in the states.I went to Game Stop and EB games and they had no strategy guide(WTF). Also, the learning curve is too high and the game takes months and months to master. And without someone else to play with, it can over a year,I'm not lying, just trying to rank up.I was playing the game for over two years straight before I finally beat the dreaded 4 horns so I can get to rank 2.
The game is designed to have you playing a very long time and we are not use to that crap in America.
But my main gripe about the game is when a monster sees you you will run faster but your stamina decreases faster and you cover less distance than if you're running normal(no monster see you). This is so you can't escape a monster. makes since.

However, if you run towards a monster when it sees you, you loose that heightened speed and resort to the slower sprint. But if you turn left, ,right or in any direction away from the monster you regain the juiced up speed. WTF. They do that so you won't be able to get at the monster fast to inflict damage. BS!
Anyway, it has to be one of the all time best programmed games in history. And at the rate my butt is playing I won't make it to MHF Unite for at least 10 years.LOL.
I haven't even taken the MHF 2 out the box yet and I bought it the day it came out two years ago. Ok,make that 20 years.
