It's common knowledge that those who pick up Modern Warfare 2's Hardened Edition or Prestige Edition will receive Call of Duty: Classic, the game that started it all. Then there's the option of making your own, but what if you're one of the 14 people who just want Call of Duty: Classic? Well, according to Infinity Ward's Robert Bowling (via IGN), you may have to wait a while.
"Prestige and Hardened Edition buyers will be getting access to Call of Duty: Classic first. It'll eventually be coming out for both Xbox Live Arcade and PSN as a stand-alone arcade game," he said. Bowling also confirmed that this is the full edition of the original game, including multiplayer. Activision has made no mention of what the classic will be priced at, though considering the $80 price of admission for the Hardened Edition, we're assuming the game will run you around $20. Will it be more as a standalone?

COD1 was before Treyarch or any of that shit. It was a pure Infinity Ward title. The 2nd best COD, in my opinion. The best was COD2

And most of these developers did Medal of Honor Allied Assault beforehand.

The original Call of Duty is REALLY good, as well as the United Offensive expansion. Ahh, the good old days of TeamSpeak and clannin' around with my buds ...

Call of Duty 1 was great. There is no reason to play it now though since Call of Duty 2 is basically the same game with better graphics.
I'll bet the plans to release Call of Duty 1 got pushed forward when Activision saw the sales of Battlefield 1943.

Call of Duty 1 was bad ass it felt like playing Band of Brothers the game kind of. In multiplayer since the guns muzzle flashes were blinding and sound effects were loud as hell, it was chaos. I loved it. I would get surprised every time I got killed from behind or from the side, since it went from eerie quiet to sharp loud weapon discharge. They toned down on muzzle flashes and weapon sfx though sadly after the first CoD which I was disappointed with.

I hope they leave it as it was. Regenerating Health ruined the shooter (Or at least the immersion it was supposed to have).

Not to mention that you can buy the Xbox version (which is compatible on the 360) for even less.

Finest Hour was a terrible game, and Big Red One was Treyarch's first attempt to run CoD into the ground.
I played the first CoD in 2003, when I was in the seventh grade. I now have a reason to get the Hardened Edition. even though I wasn't even planning on buying MW2 in the first place.

@ Spartan_458: Those were spin-offs made by non-Infinity Ward and were total crap.

Found my old copy. Man, now that I see it, they were hooked on the SAS since the first game: there's the SAS logo on the discs.

The first Russian mission was EPIC: exact replica of the Enemy at the Gates scene where the soldiers cross a river on boats and then you end up in a huge Nazi machine guns barrage.

WW2 was the best war.
The whole opera was just an early stage, pre-production event for Activision's eventual digital copy writing of the global conflict.

What part was the best for you? Was it the 420,000 American soldiers who died, the 10 million+ Chinese women and children or was it the 6 million Jews who died?
Mine would definitely be the 420,000 Americans who gave their lives so you can sit here and play WW2 games based on their horrible experiences.

Will there be any differences from the original PC version to the PS3/360 version?
Interesting how all these PC-only developers are moving towards consoles, but the bad thing is, now even snubbing the PC platform, such as the PC not getting the collector's edition of Modern Warfare 2, not getting Call of Duty 3 at all, etc.

The largest impact will be the console markets.

Call of Duty 1 is worth $20, it's a fantastic game and the multiplayer, while not as deep or customizable as Modern Warfare, is ridiculously fun. I already have the PC version but I'd be willing to try out a console port of it. The single player campaign is intense and fun as hell.

I think COD 1 will be 1200 because hardened comes with the token and art book! 20 dollars would be alot since people can get it cheaper else where. Yeah I think I'll just get hardened edition... I don't need NVGs...

I'm definitely getting the Prestige Edition and it'll be interesting to see how COD1 performs on the 360. The achievements should be intriguing as well. I just hope they keep them simple. It's an older game after all and they shouldn't be nearly impossible to get.

Considering that any PC released in the past 5 years will be able to run this perfectly, I don't understand why you'd wait to play it on PS3 or 360.
Heck, according to WineHQ, it runs perfectly in Wine, so it's not like you even need Windows!

Ha ha, I was still in middle school when this came out. This and Medal of Honor: AA both got me into videogaming, so I might buy it purely out of a sense of nostalgia. And also because I don't hold on to money for very long.

$20 seems a bit steep for such an old game. I know i wouldn't pay it. can't see it being more than $15, but I prolly wouldnt get it for more than $10. never played it, so im interested to see...
i may wait and see if the hardened/prestige editions come down in price (a la halo 3 "kitty hat" version) though...
