It's common knowledge that those who pick up Modern Warfare 2's Hardened Edition or Prestige Edition will receive Call of Duty: Classic, the game that started it all. Then there's the option of making your own, but what if you're one of the 14 people who just want Call of Duty: Classic? Well, according to Infinity Ward's Robert Bowling (via IGN), you may have to wait a while.
"Prestige and Hardened Edition buyers will be getting access to Call of Duty: Classic first. It'll eventually be coming out for both Xbox Live Arcade and PSN as a stand-alone arcade game," he said. Bowling also confirmed that this is the full edition of the original game, including multiplayer. Activision has made no mention of what the classic will be priced at, though considering the $80 price of admission for the Hardened Edition, we're assuming the game will run you around $20. Will it be more as a standalone?

Activision's going to make a killing on COD1, simply b/c alot of ppl haven't played it, and for nostalgia value for the ppl who have. It's waaaay to expensive for something this old, even Resident Evil is only $10 on the PSN.

Man, this Call of Duty stuff is such a Medal of Honor ripoff.

I'm guessing you are joking but in case you are not, you should know that Infinity Ward is comprised of most of the team that did the original Medal of Honor. So if they are similar it's because it's basically their game.

It was indeed mockery. Mostly directed at the Treyarch/WWII hatetrain.

Not really a surprise - after all, I don't think I've ever read a headline anywhere that says "Turns Out Activision No Longer Likes Money."

I love how everyone bags on WWII games being the same game over and over when they're getting ready to buy almost the exact same game they played in 2007. Enjoy your $80 COD: Modern Warfare map pack. Also, games with a modern warfare setting probably outnumber WWII games 3 to 1 in this console generation.

"Big Red One was Treyarch's first attempt to run CoD into the ground."
Now I am not sure if it came out before United Offensive expansion on PC or not, but that was made by treyarch and improved on every aspect of the MP. The singleplayer was also very solid as well.
Best,

How many of you in here commenting were also on the "ban Activision" bandwagon for the Brutal Legend lawsuit?

I'm on the bandwagon to stop supporting rhythm games with peripherals.

Honestly, If it gets a graphics overhaul, I'd be interested. But other then that, its a no go, since I got the original pc version sittin right next to me right now(plus, a copy of it is in my dad's computer and is the only thing he ever plays anymore)
CoD1 is my favorite of the series(with 2 being a close second). My favorite mission was riding on the back of the stolen german truck, with Captain Price handing you panzerfausts to launch at the tailing trucks and motorcycles. I must have played through it at least 10 times.

I have never played this and always wanted to. I preordered the Hardened Edition because of this. It would have been nice to see an upgrade to it, but it should be great anyway.

You know, I am actually kind of happy to see COD1 getting some attention here. In my opinion, COD1 with the United Offensive expansion is one of the single greatest multiplayer games of all time. Bomb the Base STILL keeps a bunch of us playing this game online as no game since then has quite managed to capture the magic of team based base bombing.
First you gotta shell their bases with tanks: a task much harder than it may seem. Then you have to actually get into said base and plant a bomb and defend it so the enemy doesn't have a chance to diffuse it. One game could last quite a long time if you had two teams that were working well amongst themselves with 3 bases on each team. EPIC.
It's too bad many people never got to experience the multiplayer in United Offensive. If you are looking for something kickass to play on your PC for cheap, find these and grab them... I almost guarantee they will work on your PC. Hell, I saw the two being sold together at Best Buy just a few weeks ago on clearance for like $10. Then come and join us online. We could use a few good men...

Sorry, you're thinking of Call of Duty 2.
Pacific Assault was still a pretty good shooter, and probably the last good Medal of Honour.

I really hope this includes the UO expansion, but I've seen nothing to indicate that.
