Whether you pronounce it Mothership Zeta or Mothership Zed-eta, the fact remains that the aliens are coming to cause some trouble in Fallout 3's Capital Wasteland very soon. Beyond a trailer of what to expect when Mars (Jupiter, Uranus?) attacks, there is also a developer's diary on the little details of the DLC's creation. Mothership Zeta will be ready to abduct our wanderer and our wallets on August 3 for 800 ($10) on PC and Xbox. The PlayStation 3 version will be available at a later date, and we'll let you know when the little grayish-green men inform us of that abduction date.
The aliens in Fallout 1 & 2 (and I guess 3?) were just sight gags. the games were full of them. now they're canon? looks like bethesda is running out of ideas.
Fair enough. I haven't played Fallout 1 or 2 and I never noticed my friend finding a space ship when I watched him play it sometimes during his week long obsession with playing it non stop.
Well according to the article, it will be released on August 3rd which means you still have a few days. That's more than enough time to finish every DLC that's been released thus far even if you haven't started any of them. Bethesda is not at fault for your procrastination.
hey look, they've managed to turn an original IP theme into just another alien invasion FPS with probably lots of repetitive spaceship corridors and power nodes and probably a mission were you have to activate or disable a self-destruct device.
As opposed to the extremely repetitive rocky landscapes, corroded plumbing and grunge of Fallout 3?
Come on, you're really deriding the DLC because of a repetitiveness or missions when you haven't seen it, yet these problems are already abundant in the game? That's not very fair.
Besides, it's not like you have to buy it or anything. This is a big win for saucer fans. You Know Who You Are, comrades.
no, as opposed to the hundreds of games that have mined this scenario to death, brought it back to life and then killed it again. Bethesda have an entire world of possible scenarios to play with, not the least of which could be visiting one of the classic Fallout towns in the Fallout 3 engine. So what do they do? Go back to the generic drawing board/waste basket for content that doesn't even fit with the universe except in sight gags.
If you are tired of classic Fallout post-apocalyptic 1950's alternate Earth then you haven't played many other games in the last 10 years. The ratio of walking through alien corridors vs nuclear wastelands is about 50,000:1 and climbing.
Raid the bargain bin and you'll probably find full games like Prey or Quake IV for half the price of this DLC which go through the same scenario.
but how many other companies have ever put out such a large, thought out, in depth game, with so much to cover if you really wanted to, and 2 different ways to play the game, more detail in their RPG system than most any game ever, etc, etc... yeah the repetitive voice acting was getting old, but there was a heck of a lot of dialog choices to take in the game. most of the VA was done well IMO, something not usually accomplished by most RPG's....
what more has ever fit onto 1 9gb DVD disc for gaming this gen?
Wow finally a trailer and its looks awesome! Judging from the video I can say this is gonna be more action oriented like Operation Anchorage, well Bethesda you got my monies again!
It's not at all 360 DLC exclusive and it will come to PS3, it's just takes a little longer to produce most games for the most neddlessly complicated console platform. :-)
Dont really understand why people are complaining so much about the "delayed" exlusiveness... When i had an Xbox i REALLY wanted to play GTA3, but i didnt have a ps2.. so.. i went to my friends house and played it.. people still have friends right?
